2 Phat Vegans - One of the booths looking at the drink cooler. - Vegan Near Me - New Orleans, Louisiana

The mushroom poboy was soggy! The cook kept going outside to smoke cigarettes. I believe that this poboy had been sitting in the heater for a very long time because the batter had separated from the mushrooms. There were burn marks on the bread and the paper. What you see in the video is what the sandwich looked like when I opened it. Shame! What I've discovered is that if the owner isn't preparing the food then I won't eat there anymore because this was a crash and burn. This location is now on Decatur street. read more

The staff was very friendly and helpful! I had the hot sausage po' boy, which was so good and very flavorful. The sausage has a nice kick to it. I also ordered the vegan gumbo, OMG, I loved it! The food is made to order and well seasoned. New Orleans style!! Happy I went! Will be back to try the fried mushrooms. read more

Ummm...wow! I ordered the Vegan Hot Sausage PoBoy and I knew I was in love after the first bite! I can't remember the last time I had a sandwich this good. It's got a kick to it but it won't burn your face off. Did I mention how big this sandwich was?! I think it's a foot long. You will be full when you're done. It goes so well with sweet tea. The service here is great and the owner is super friendly. They have an outdoor seating area that's really nice and an inside dining room as well. read more

This food was so good for a sausage pony and oh boy was it banging. Also huge size I ate half and half of my fried okra. Thought I was gonna save it for the next day. A few hours later I ate the rest to good to share read more

Tasty vegan sandwiches and wraps, I had the crabby patty served as a wrap. My husband had the Vegan Hot Sausage PoBoy and we shared the huge serving of fries he ordered. We got the chocolate chip cookies to go! Nice inside dining and the owner was friendly. Good food, we left stuffed! read more

I've only been vegan for a few days, but this is the first time I've been full since I started. I could not stop eating even though the plan going in was to save half of it for lunch tomorrow. We got the Bass Burger which features an impossible patty and we got one of the bean burgers. I'm not a bean burger fan, but it tasted good. We cut it in half to reveal whole beans which leads me to believe that they are made in-house. I finished the Bass Burger. Both were on different kinds of buns. This attention to detail I really appreciated. The fries and fried mushrooms were delightful. Perfect seasoning on both. The mushrooms came with an herbaceous mayo-ketchup house made sauce. Their portions were GENEROUS. I couldn't stop popping either into my mouth even after I said I was done. My favorite parts of the meal were the gumbo and the pecan chocolate chip cookies. Can we say 'umami?' Because baybeeee, that gumbo had the sixth sense. The 2 "meat" varieties in it had the texture and taste of real meat. I felt like I was eating a "normal" gumbo. The cookie was hands down one of my favorites. As someone who loves sweets, but not sugar (if that makes sense), I loved how unsweet it was. The service was divine. Corey the owner was so welcoming. He offered to serve us our gumbo and cookies as we waited for our takeout. This we happily accepted. He's also a community leader in his own right, hosting events like yoga on Saturdays in their nice patio and having performances and talks in the cozy dining area. And the inside is adorable. The ambience really made me want to sit and stay for a while. read more

I ordered online. When I got there to pick up my food. I was asked what I ordered. They could not find my order at first and jut wanted me to place another. When I mentioned that I had already paid for my order online they were like just cancel it we can't find it. Oh and by the way we don't even have what you ordered. Finally, someone came in and showed the person at the counter what to do to see my order. They did not have the jackfruit for the dish nor the limes for the drink. The music was loud and it just did not seem like they even cared that they did not have what I ordered. I try to support small businesses, but I cannot go back here. read more

Visiting from SF and wanted to get a taste of my first poboy. The service is amazing and the food speaks for itself. Just get over here and make your tummy happy. read more

Food was amazing! The jerk chicken wrap was BOMB! I couldn't believe it wasn't actually chicken. The hot sausage po boy was great too. Great fried okra and portion size was huge! There was a wait for the food but it was prepared fresh so I really couldn't be upset. The younger guy should be a bit more friendly and engaging when taking orders, I would hate for them to lose customers. Also enjoyed the games they had while we waiting on our food! read more

Food was so delicious, restaurant is on the smaller side but is decorated nicely (eclectic). Wouldn't have known items were vegan given the taste and flavor. Smoothie wasn't super sweet but that's okay. read more

Visiting New Orleans for the holidays.,..,Wow everything we had was great... po-boy was the bomb, super service!!

Five stars all the way. The food is absolutely amazing; I've been wanting a poboy since we arrived here in Nola, but until we visited 2 Phat Vegans I haven't found anything I could eat. The sausage poboy at 2 Phat is so good I'd be willing to cross the river again to have another one. My wife got the jerk chick'n wrap and, believe it or not, hers was even better than my sandwich was. They fed us so much that we couldn't even finish the side of fried okra we split. The owner was super friendly and easy going, and the ambiance was simply and homey -- like visiting a friend's house. This one is absolutely worth going out of your way for. read more

First time - Called in a takeout - food was ready on time hot and oh so delicious! Highly recommend Bass burger and fabulous hot sausage poboy. The fries and fried okra were cooked correctly. NOT greasy. Well done 2 Phat Vegans. Can wait to try more on the menu. This review is for the new 1303 Decatur St location read more

I live in the neighborhood. We went to the one in the French Quarter. I'm not a vegetarian but the food interests me. We had a Mushroom PoBoy and Eggplant Fries. We grabbed take out and took our lunch home. The food was so good. We will be regulars there. The only criticism I have is that 90% of the menu does not have any type of description. The sauce with eggplant was great but my friend has food allergies so he could not try it. I had so many questions about the menu that I could tell I was annoying the girl at the counter and the customers behind me on line. I would love to try other dishes but it seems like so much work having to google each item on their gigantic menu. A little write up of ingredients and preparation would be so helpful. I wish they had some of the deserts and items in a display case to help customers choose. read more

Let me start by saying I'm not a vegan and it's been a long time since I've had a hot sausage sandwich. Today that wait is over!!! My son recommended this place and it did not disappoint. We were greeted by a nice friendly guy and the place had a good vibe. Let's talk about the hot sausage po' boy!! It tasted like old times and brought me on a trip down memory lane. The pattie was good, spicy and full of flavor. The french bread was toasted, just how I like it. Of course I got it fully dressed... iykyk. The only thing missing was a pineapple Big Shot. I will be back to try some other items off the menu. Sorry no pictures because it didn't make it home. read more

This place is absolutely awesome. it changed names, but thank goodness it didn't change your recipes. I love the soups the awesome hot sausage sandwich and eggplant. This place does not disappoint. I travel miles to get to this place. It is wonderful. I didn't give it a five star because one time I did get a hostage sandwich that was a little too salty. Consistency is key. read more

Review is for the new Decatur location. Delicious food and nice staff. I had the hot sausage po boy on their recommendation and it was delicious. I also had a sort of annoying request and they accommodated happily. So glad I found the new location and that they close no earlier than 1:00 AM read more

I've eaten here twice and they've knocked it out of the park both times. It's small inside, so no large parties but I believe they have an outdoor patio - I haven't eaten there out there yet but it's cute! Regarding "That Guy's" remarks about slow service, whenever I order they tell me exactly how long it will be until my food is ready. They make it to order and it hasn't disappointed yet, so it's worth the wait. Go to a random fast food restaurant if you want that, don't put down a local business because you were in a hurry. Btw, I have ordered the mushroom po'boy both times (recommend!!) and am looking forward to trying something different on my next visit (the hot sausage po'boy maybe!). read more

Was in NOLA for a few days and ended up eating here 3 times. Po boys are insanely good, been vegan for a while now and these were some of the best sandwiches I've had since. Staff were super friendly , and the vibe is good. I will be back! read more

Holy crap slow. I don't know how they can remain in business. There was nobody in the place and I was floored how long I waited for a sandwich. I think the only way you can patron this place is by ordering delivery. I can't explain.enough how long it took. It was insane. read more

Fantastic vegan food at a cool spot. Friendly staff. The salad was huge and super fresh! Love this place!

Super, super slow service and super slow to make the food. Waited 45 minutes for just a burger, and no other customers were in the restaurant. No appetizers (fries, mushrooms, okra, etc.) were available. Could not pay in cash because they had no way to make change. All the tables were dirty, and I had to clean my own to sit and eat. The floor looked like it hadn't been swept or mopped in days. The two young guys behind the counter had zero sense of urgency and didn't seem to want to be there. The burger itself was dry, had no seasoning, very little sauce, and was cooked in a convection oven. Too slow, bland, and dirty to even think about visiting again. read more

3/10, jerk chicken wrap was very wet and sloppy. The flavor of the crispy pieces that didn't fall apart has a decent flavor though. Thin fried zucchini tasted horrible because it was cooked in old grease so it was not crispy at all. read more

The food here is so good! We had the jerk chik'n and the meatball sub - both 100% vegan - and you'd never know you weren't eating meat. We could tell that they take a lot of care in the preparation of the meal. The restaurant is really cute, there are board games to play, and everybody was really nice. DELICIOUS!! If you're a tourist, this place is worth the Uber ride!! A small local place with delicious locally inspired VEGAN FOOD!!

We got there and the feeling was off, but we decided to order appetizers anyway, just because we were there. I got the fried mushrooms and fries. After I ordered another guy came in and ordered the fries and asked they be made well done. I knew then they were serving half done potatoes. Boy was I right. The fries were so soppy and wet with grease, so were the mushrooms. They were all hot and fresh, but it took 40 minutes to get them and we were the first order there. read more

Worst service I have ever gotten ever! Went Saturday around 5 pm. Guy working behind the desk only whispered when talking, and you couldn't understand him, yet inappropriate music was blasting loud. Nothing like listening to loud music about sex and cursing with 3 kids! Everything we tried to order, we were told they were out of. He only had veggie burgers and chicken. My daughter ordered a meatball poboy and was given a burger instead cause he was "out". He never even asked. But being polite, we said that was fine. She also ordered a cheese pizza, and we had 3 orders of okra and 3 orders of fries. All we got were 4 sandwiches, in which we waited over 30 mins for. After we were done, we waited and waited for the rest of our order. I went up to ask him, and he just forgot. He said they didn't have enough okra all of a sudden and no cheese for the pizza. So he never made it and never bothered to tell us. We had a school even at 7 pm and we got there a little before 5:30. He told me the fries would take 4 mins. After finally getting exhausted, I asked him when they would be done, and he said a while. I asked him why did he tell me 4 mins then, and he just shrugged. I ended up losing my money and walking out. I would also like to add that only one couple and one man came in the whole time we were there. He was not busy at all and just played on his phone. He told me it was just him there and he was doing his best. He did NOT care to be there at all! I don't understand why this place has a high rating because it is not even 1 star worthy. Will never be back and warn others never to try. It's not worth it at all. read more
