We called them from Austin (where we live) because while visiting earlier in the week we felt the system didn't seem to be blowing cold/keeping up as it should. Even though we said it wasn't an emergency Lone Star sent a tech over the same day. Mom said he spent quite a bit of time running tests and could find nothing wrong. She said he was very polite, explained everything to her and that even though it was past the one year labor warranty he did not charge for the call. It turns out that while there we must have remedied any problem when we replaced her return air filter with a clean one, but couldn't really tell because her ceilings are so high and we did it at the end of our visit. Anyway, when we had gone outside the air blowing out from the condenser was not very hot so we thought the freon was low hence the service call for Mom...but come to find out, the newer larger units don't put off as hot of air, only 15-20 degrees hotter than the ambient air. So Lone Star's install was good and this review is a thank you as well as a recommendation. (My brother selected Lone Star for Mom and he researches...so a double recommendation if you count that :-) ).

Alarm Link moved their customers over to Alert 360, and when that partnership apparently soured, they severed ties and completely abandoned their long-term clients without a single word of notice. This transition left me stranded with a company (Alert 360) that now claims they cannot service my area and has unilaterally canceled my service. It is deeply disappointing to see a local company you've trusted for a decade drop their responsibilities and leave their customers to fend for themselves. I can no longer recommend Alarm Link to anyone.

They were able to remove my old unit and install the new one in a day. The new unit has been EXCELLENT this long, hot, summer---quiet, efficient and economical to operate. The technicians they sent out were friendly and knowledgeable and kept me informed all during the process. I really can't say enough good about this local, small business. As a proud Texan who has served and worn my uniform proudly, I value honesty and fairness above all else. When I booked their services, I had no idea that they were over an hour away. When we did a google search for Hereford this company showed up as if they were local. We had a overpowering sewer stench in the building only that added to our sense of urgency. In my desperation to take care of my employees, I unknowingly booked Scottco while my wife had already booked another company. As a small company with only two employees, the $420 trip charge was quite devastating for us. I believe in compensating others for their time and would never want to take advantage of anyone. I understand that mistakes happen, and I am willing to pay a fair amount for the services rendered. However, I was taken aback when I was told that the original charge was almost $600 as if I needed to be happy with the current. I believe in dealing with companies that operate with integrity and put their heart into their operations. I own up to my mistake and am willing to pay what is fair.
