Things began great with Chris. He showed up when he said he would. Diagnosed the issue, and prescribed the solution. He told me the shop would have to order the permanent replacement part, but he could install a temporary one. I paid him in full for everything, including his coming back in a week with the permanent replacement part. The problem is that last part never happened. He responded the first time I contacted him, telling me the shop never ordered the part, that he'd reordered it and would have it done that week. That was 6 weeks ago. He hasn't called or texted me back. Let me repeat, I've already paid him for the part and the installation. He's stopped responding to me. This seems out of the ordinary for him given his other reviews but this is unacceptable. read more

If i could give less I would...STAY AWAY...WASTE OF TIME Truly disappointed. With a busted a/c unit in the nyc heat, one does not want to deal with an unprofessional and unreliable business. I am so disgusted with 1NewYorkHVAC that I am posting my first ever yelp review. This business in NO way should have 4 stars. After speaking with Chris on Wednesday, he told me to email him my address and model of my unit which I promptly did. He never responded to the email to confirm. I called him Friday afternoon to confirm our appointment for the next day. He told me he would call me that evening to confirm time. Not only did he never call, but never responded to any of my calls the following day. Not worth another moment of your time. read more

Chris was AWESOOOOOOME!... He is about his business.... I had an issue... He did the following: 1. Assessed the situation 2. Provided all solutions... expensive solution vs. Non expensive solution 3. Advised on what was the best solution for the moment. 4. He was very knowledgeable on his expertise with explanation that the consumer can understand. What I loved the most about Chris is that he went right to work to resolve the sitiation.... He did not BS around... guess what... at the end of the job I was satisfied... read more

Chris has done air conditioner and furnace repair, installed a hot water heater and built a duct for me, all faster than I expected and at a fair price. He's not into selling you things you don't need, and nobody's ever had to touch his work after it's done. Yes, one-star reviewers, it's a shame he's just one guy. But if you're smart he should be the first guy you call. read more

Our heating broke down on a bitterly cold Friday. I called a HVAC repair shop (not Chris), who said someone would come fix it at 9am the next day. I even called the next morning at 830am to confirm the appointment, and they said somebody would come between 9-10am. Nobody showed up. By 3pm, I had given up on these guys, and I called another shop. They said a technician would get back to me. Nobody called back. Now it's 8am on Sunday morning. I decided to call Chris. He was quick to pick up the phone, said he could get to my place in 60-90 minutes, and was upfront and clear about the pricing. So, I made the appointment with Chris... and somehow, 30 minutes later, our heating decided to start working again. I called Chris to explain and to apologize for canceling, half expecting him to get angry. But he was really good natured about it. So, I never had to chance to evaluate Chris as a technician, but I just wanted to give him a shout-out for being so responsive. I had expected the worst after my previous two experiences, so working with Chris was a breath of fresh air. read more

After finding our AC unit frozen on Memorial Day, I went to yelp to find a reliable HVAC service. What a great pick!! Chris was on time ( actually called to say he could be earlier if it was convenient ) professional, and informative. Thanks to his prompt service we will be sleeping in air conditioned comfort. Maybe a little expensive, but highly recommended... read more

I never met Chris - all Dealt over the phone - was able to diagnose the problem and fix it the next day after he was done working a long shift - as a single mom with two kids l really appreciate him stepping up and getting me out of this bind- he just need constant reminder - he will get the job done. read more

We moved into our new house a month ago and on the first hot day, we realize our central air wasn't working right (fan on, air hot). I called several places, but Chris was the first to respond and he talked me through the issue trying to help me fix it myself and save me the cost of a visit. When we realize there was some wiring issue that I wasn't capable of fixing, he came in the very same night at 9pm (I work very late most days) and we troubleshot the issues together, him teaching me how the system works and how I can save myself some money in the future by knowing where issues may come up. It's currently super cool in here, everything was fixed quickly and on top of it all, Chris was an incredibly friendly and sincere person. I cannot recommend him highly enough to everyone who is clueless around HVAC issues. Prompt, friendly, and a great value. I'll be using him for all of my cooling and heating needs in the future. read more

This business is ran pretty weirdly. The phone number listed is the cell phone number of the owner and is always turned off until late evening. How can you run a business trying to save your phone minutes? Then if you by chance get in contact with the owner he will make an appointment with you and never show up, then call the next day to reschedule and never show up then either. As a customer you literally have to beg this guy to work for you to take your money. You are better off finding a professional actually interested in work than wasting your time with this guy. read more

He said he would be able to come over in the next 48 hours, then didn't return calls or ever confirm an appointment. Very disappointing.

Called him on Monday to discuss repairing my heater. He asked me to text him some photos, which I did. No response. I called on Wednesday to see what happened, which reminded him to look at the photos. After some more discussion he scheduled a site visit for Friday. I took the day off work and stayed home all day. HE DID NOT SHOW UP. I called several times on Friday and Saturday and he does not pick up. Very disappointed. read more

I was surprised at my experience after seeing the other reviews. Our condenser broke on our HVAC AC unit (mid-August, we just moved in), and we needed someone ASAP to help fix it. I was pleasantly surprised initially when he said he would come over on a Friday night at 8pm to do the evaluation that day. Paid for the initial consultation fee plus a small deposit for parts. Called him a few times to schedule a follow-up and a few days later he had the parts in order to test and confirm what was broken (condenser). The initial quote to replace came in $2-3K higher than 2 other HVAC specialists I spoke to for 2nd and 3rd opinions (in context - that is 2X the cost of doing the work with the person I am using now). Then he went radio silent, and I never heard from him to follow up on more detailed estimates or the work. I did confirm with a other specialists that his assessment of the condenser being broken was correct. However some other information we were given about our fan being the wrong one did not seem to be correct. At this point, I'm considering the fee and deposit (the entirety of which should have been applied to future work) as sunk cost, and as I have gotten quotes for far less, have not called to follow-up with him on it. He may be an OK option for quick fixes where he can come in, fix it then and there, take the deposit, and get out. But I didn't have a great experience nor was my problem fixed with him, and I needed to keep calling him to get any follow-up information. Overall, I felt his quotes were high (even the initial assessment fee was over double the other companies I had to pay for opinions), and as we were moving in and dealing with a host of other issues, so having to keep following-up with someone you have paid in good faith of work being done was not for me. read more

This guy cancelled on me twice and both times I had to reach out to him not the other way around. I can't speak on what his repair/installation services are like because he never was able to follow through on his own scheduling. My business was in an emergency situation at the time so it was very frustrating. read more

I recently found Chris though Yelp when I was searching for someone new to service my residential cooling units, one traditional and another split-system. He was knowledgable and professional and clearly answered all of my questions during our initial phone call. I called him to book an appointment and he insisted on coming as soon as possible, even choosing to work on a holiday. He called to verify our appt. and was on time. He took me up onto my roof and taught me a bit about the equipment I had up there and suggested some ways I could better maintain it. Though no repair was required (, he measured my system's pressure, checked the coolant levels and insured that all connections were proper. He also suggested a better filter that I could use on the inside. All in all I was quite pleased with his professional attitude, knowledge, demeanor and service. Give him a try- he runs a small business, he works hard and he seems to care about building trust with the customer. And his prices are very fair. Plus, he charged me exactly what he said he would on the phone. In addition to cooling, he does heating, plumbing and chimney work (at least...). read more

I was working on a job painting and my customers asked me about their chimney and the problems they are having with it. I recommended Chris with NewYork HVAC. He contacted my customers quickly and was on the site a couple of days later investigating what was needed. The following day he came back and finished all the work. My customers were very happy with the service he provided. They told me he was really nice and courteous. I will recommend them any some one asks me for a good chimney/HVAC company. read more

We just had Chris clean out our chimney and we would completely recommend his services. He was professional and friendly and was willing to accommodate a tight schedule request so that we could have a fire for holidays. He was quick to get in touch and taught us a few things to make our chimney work more efficiently. He was also super sweet to our pup who was very interested in the whole process. Thanks to him we are able to light a fire again! read more

Chris is the best -- honestly. Trusty worth, fair and very knowledgeable. He's really good. Pleasure to talk to and deal with too. I called him with an HVAC issue, he talked me through potential problems over the phone and logically came to determine what the issue was. He picked up a part and was at my apartment within an hour. Fixed it right away. Best part is, he literally saved me hundreds of bucks that another company quoted me to fix the problem after they basically made up some BS about what was wrong. I highly recommend Chris. read more

Our heat failed at around 10 tonight. Thermostat (Nest) reported it wasn't getting any power. Unit (York) was cold and silent. Called 1NewYorkHVAC at around 11 PM. Chris (I presume) answered and said that he couldn't come by because he was out of town. But he talked me into resetting the thing and getting it working again. He spent 15 patient minutes with me on the phone - for free. Extremely nice, knowledgeable guy. Next time I have a problem I'm calling him. What a pleasant surprise. read more

I can't express how please my fiancé and I with Chris and the level of professionalism given to us. Not only is Chris extremely knowledgeable in his field but he had our best interest at heart. He also has a great sense of humor. Being a first time home owner, Chris made sure to give us all the information we needed before the closing date. He saved us a headache down the road $$$$$ and guided us in what to do in resolving the issue with the sellers. Thanks Chris! You're awesome!!!! I look forward to always going to you first! read more

Chris came to help us out when our heat wasn't working in October. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and polite. He diagnosed the problem quickly, while explaining what he was doing in simple language. His rates were very reasonable, and he stuck to the original quote he gave us. We would highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a heating expert who is also a really nice guy. read more

We called our standby HVAC guy to come out when our AC stopped working. He gave me a quote to fix the compressor and said he'd be here in a few days to install. So I started calling around to get some quotes and see if he was being honest. Thank goodness. I spoke to Peter at NY HVAC who quickly directed me to the source (the fuse on the roof of all things) and he walked me through the resetting process and now my once sweltering home is now cool and he SAVED US NEARLY THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. Peter is a real stand-up guy and I'll never call another company for our HVAC needs. He didn't make any money off my call and yet he took the time to generously guide me through the simple process to get my equipment up and running again. Peter-if you're reading this please know you've made a client for life. Thank you so much! (I actually JOINED Yelp just to write this review!) read more

Chris is great, he is a standup guy, who really knows the business. We called him around 11:30 p.m. for our business a/c and he showed up around 12 a.m. Yes, 12 a.m.! He worked until one a.m. and did his best to make sure our a/c was functioning as it should. You can't find anyone in new york willing to come out that late and not tackle you for cash. Highly recommend! read more

Chris was prompt, professional, knowledgable and communicative. I hired him to take a look at our penthouse AC units and he did great work. He did so well, we're hoping to hire him on a service contract. I've been through 2 or 3 other HVAC services and so far he's been the best. I deal with a lot of vendors and techs here in NY and he's top notch. Thanks Chris! read more

Chris was fantastic. He answered my email immediately and did research on my units all day. When he came the following day he quickly assessed the problem and fixed it. On top of it all he's a super nice guy and I felt that I could trust him. Very knowledgeable and he will certainly be my first call should I ever need more HVAC help. read more

Called NY HVAC on a Sunday, for a boiler that wasnt firing up. The technician arrived promptly, and proceeded to give me a great lesson on the operation of my boiler. will certainly use them again! read more

CHRIS ROCKS! Our bedroom HVAC stopped cooling and I went to Yelp for Help. Chris exceeded every expection! He has the knowledge, the experience, the professionalism and a great personality to boot. He explained everything along the way, and not only did he fix the problem (and fixed another unit I hadn't noticed was running on empty), but did it in amazingly little time, despite the magnitude of the problem. #silverbullet read more

I've been meaning to write this review since Chris first came out during a particularly cold bit of weather this past winter and hadn't gotten around to it. He showed up super last minute and saved us! He got our old furnace working again and we will definitely be calling on him to replace it before next winter hits. I was reminded to leave this review today when I noticed that something- most likely a mouse - had decided to crawl into our heating ducts and die. He doesn't do this type of work but was so helpful with recommending some companies that could potentially help me out. Great customer service! Thanks Chris! read more

Chris is thorough, professional, friendly, and educational. He told me after a few minutes of looking that I needed less than what I'd originally asked for, saving me money. He's clearly both knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Highly recommended. read more

I haven't written a review in years but got back on Yelp to write one for this. I called 1NewYorkHVAC and spoke to Chris about potentially fixing a window air conditioner. He was up front and honest with me from the start that him coming to fix my a/c would likely not be worth my money as it would cost almost as much as the unit itself. Still, he took the time to answer my questions, help me try to diagnose the issue, and offer his advice. Very much appreciated! read more

Chris was great -- very professional and a really nice guy. I I found him through yelp and I have to say all of the previous reviews are spot on. He charged us a good price, and gave us some tips to keep our heat running smoothly. He even cleaned up the spills. Highly recommended! read more

Had Chris with NewYork HVAC assess some chimney work. He was extremely responsive, able to lay out a few options, and aggressively sought the best material prices. In the end he did quality work, all while accommodating our tight budget. I strongly recommend checking with him regarding any HVAC needs/situations. read more

I was on Long Island and needed to find a repair person for an apartment my mom has in Brooklyn. It was the day after Christmas and a pretty nasty storm out. Went onto yelp and found 1NYHVAC. I left a message, and got a call back from Chris within 5 minutes. Asked if he could reach out to the tenant and schedule a time later that same day. He showed up, did his troubleshooting and gave me a call to explain the problem. He was able to find a replacement part after hours, and had the heating back up without a hitch. Was very detailed in his explanations and extremely professional. Highly recommend him to anyone ! read more

Chris was as good I had hoped. We lost heat at our brownstone in Cobble Hill and he came at 10:00 at night and returned until the job was completely done. Then he called a day later to ensure all was well. Highly recommended. read more

We had no heat and Chris was the only one who could come on a moment's notice. He showed up as promised, fixed as promised despite some problems that were not his fault, and charged a reasonable amount. This is a nice guy who is in business for himself and I liked him personally. read more

I second the others who say that the 5-star reviews here are fake. When I called Chris, he asked how if I had found him on Yelp. Seems like a tip-off. Anyway, very nice guy but doesn't know a lot about what he's doing. Had to visit our apartment 6-7 times and never managed to fix a simple problem with our boiler. In the end, we hired another company and they concluded in about 5 seconds that he had installed the wrong part. Avoid. read more
