Appetizer came out after the entrees. Had to grab my own condiment and napkin basket. Only took a drink and food order once, never checked on again, then the manager watched me as I signed the check and left zero tip, then berated me as I signed for leaving zero tip. Lunch time during the Crazy Days Sales. We've been there a couple of times the past few months. Today may be our last. The drinks and food used to be really good. Today the drinks were sub-par. The diet cola has absolutely no carbonation and tasted like syrup on ice. The Bloody Marys were merely tomato water with no spice, no flavor, and little vegetables. When we first asked about having Bloody Mary's, the bartender wasn't sure she could make them. She had to see if there was any mix? It's 11:15 on a Saturday morning during college football season. And they were promoting an All You can Eat Crab Boil starting at noon - so no Bloody Mary drinks available? The only plus is the outside patio area with a nice view of Sand Creek. read more

So let first say it was Tuesday evening pretty empty, I wasn't expecting much. Melissa was our server and did a great job. Three of us ordered burgers and another the Asian salads . We were absolutely blown away by the blue burger w waffle sweet potato fries. The blue cheese dressing is the best I've had anywhere! All we did was keep taking a bite and going "Oh Wow!" My husband and I ate at the 1908 Saloon yesterday and werevery impressed. They used to be the A & P Grill and I liked them then, but they have really spruced up the place, made it bright and cheerful, clean, and the good was very good. I was ESPECIALLY impressed at the friendliness of the staff, particularly Melissa, who greeted us as soon as we stepped in with a friendly, welcoming smile. I love rustic-type places, unpretentious, with a nice staff. It even has a good view out the back deck overlooking the marina. read more

Came in for pool league on a Wednesday evening, we were ignored by the bartender so we went up and ordered our drinks after we had been there for 20 minutes or so. I came hungry and ready to try the food here. The only time I was approached by the staff was when we were ordered to move to another table cause they had a large party coming in. We played for about 4 hours and not once did a member of staff say another word to us. Even when he had to move around us as we were watching our teammates games he couldn't be bothered to even say excuse me as he bumped into one of us. Considering how the night went I will not come back for anything other than the remaining match our team has at the establishment. I certainly will not ever spend a dime there again. Apparently the manager was there while all of the interactions with the bartender occurred and he did nothing just sat at the bar with his people ignoring his job as the manager. read more

I went here today after many months of not, and was looking forward to a PJ's burger, which is what I've usually been served here. (For those in the know, PJ's in Sandpoint was almost as good as Hudson's in Coeur d'Alene - in my humble opinion)... in other words, they are worth looking forward to! Today wasn't the day. I was there shortly after opening, the gals working there were friendly and all, but I sure didn't get a "PJ's" burger. It appeared to be pre-made (not a fresh-made patty), although it was still slightly pink in the middle (da kine) - BUT THE BUN WAS COLD. I don't mean just not grilled, IT WAS COLD. Really bummed me out. I hope they read this because I want to go back for a PJ's burger. read more

I never came here when it was the A and P like so many other of the reviewers had. I am guessing the reviews are high for the 1908 because those other reviews are still mixed in. I have been here 4 times with my family. I like the look of the inside, although I wish the bar stools were taller because I feel like I am a little kid at the table. The food is very good--the 1/2 pound burger is juicy and delicious and was great all four times. The reason for the 3 star review is that the service is just not good. It is not that it is just slow--I could really deal with that as we are not usually in a hurry--but it is the total lack of attention to us when we are there. The waitress seems put out by having to take care of us and would rather talk to the people sitting at the bar top. Same waitress last 2 times--the previous visits the service was slow but at least friendly and the server didn't seem irritated to take care of us. But our last 2 visits we had the same gal. We have to keep asking for water--the one bottle she dropped off at the table 1/2 filled our 4 glasses. We were never brought soda refills, had to ask for sides for the fries which really irritated her (even though we asked for them when we ordered so she wouldn't have to make a 2nd trip.) The only time she was nice was when she dropped the check--not sure if it was in hopes of a better tip or just glad we were leaving. Honestly, if we walk in again and she is there, we will go to one of the many other restaurants in Sandpoint. Both times she was so unfriendly that it dampened the mood of my whole family. As a native to northern Idaho, I have always defended my great region when others claim it is plagued with racism. As a longtime rider at Schweitzer mountain resort, I was disheartened to witness the racist events that took place here the weekend of the fourth of July. I was DD'ing for a large group that the establishment should have been thrilled to have as it could easily be expected to spend at least $300. It began upon entry, when the bouncer (a very large person, almost filled the entire door frame, didn't catch his name but would be very hard not to know from the description) said he didn't catch half of our IDs but it didn't matter because half of you were black anyway. Not sure what that meant other than maybe he didn't anticipate us being served? It isn't relevant, but not one of us was African American. There were a few people of Mexican and Simoan decent. When someone asked another worker if he was going to do something about the comment, he responded well he ain't wrong. Things were fine for a while after that. My friend sat down at the bar and was seated for approximately 20 minutes without being served at which point he asked if he could have a drink. A patron along the curved edge of the bar threw out a comment along the lines of he doesn't need to be served because he's Mexican. The bartender on that end, Logan, didn't rebuke him, but instead smiled. When asked why he wasn't serving him he didn't outright say race. He did make a remark about how "his group of people were the type to cause problems." When asked what that meant Logan just gave a smirk. At this point I want to make clear that it was Logan and the bouncer who were encouraging/provoking/spouting the racist comments and not the other bartender Dave, who apologized and provided my friend a free drink for the trouble. Thank you for being the one positive experience at this bar. My friend, rightfully upset but never physical, continued to ask Logan why he wasn't served from the other end of the bar and I'm assuming the bouncer heard. We rounded everyone up, ready to leave and would have been out of the bar without issue except for the big man guarding the door. This is the most mind boggling part to me as I believe a bouncer's job is to keep the peace, but he seemed to want to encourage a fight. To begin, I didn't know he had been involved until he flinched at me as I was walking out the door. Once outside he said, "Hey, white is right." A young woman happened to hear and asked him to say it again as he smirked inside the doorway. He stood over her intimidatingly and then asked her to come hit him after a short while. Another individual, I was told it was the cook but I don't know whether that's true or if it was another patron, called one of the other individuals outside a fat, ugly, B**** as well. I am horrified at the experience and ashamed to have defended the area so vehemently to friends from other places. Sandpoint was a place I hoped to live in the next few years but I have serious doubts now (Although I'm sure I can find people like this anywhere and shouldn't judge the city for it). I would be more than willing to give this bar another chance in the future and edit my review based upon that experience, but will certainly not do so unless Logan and the bouncer are no longer employed there. It's 2019. People are entitled to their beliefs, but voicing them in a place of business and altering service because of those beliefs is not okay. Please share this anywhere you can and let management know. The individuals, bouncer, and Logan, should be held accountable for their racist behavior. read more

Was harassed by bartender about our ids and asked for our debit card too even though i had a perfect id. We werent even ordering drinks

Just walking into this dive spot (even by local standards), an odor hit us...and it wasn't alcohol. A sour odor of filth pervaded this establishment, and it was obvious. The bar area was filthy, dirty, and only a couple of locals sat drinking at the bar. The beer was cold, but drink and shot glasses were dirty...and the bartender couldn't seem to understand why we didn't finish or want the shots. Wow, never judge a book by its cover. We are so happy we found the A & P! First thing I do is check out the bathrooms, clean and well maintained. The service was first class and the cook even came out to see how we liked our lunch. Many TV's to watch the game, pool table and darts. The prices are great! Wow! I cannot say better things about this place. First of all, the 7 bouncers in this make you feel as safe as you can be. I saw them take down a potential fighter to the ground in seconds flat. The music is great! I can't get enough of 75 year olds dancing to Little Wayne. Speaking of the dance floor, there is nothing better than dancing your way through the dance floor to the bathroom.
