If you're looking for something to completely change how you view fitness and your health, this is…read morethe place to go. My wife and I have been attending for about a year now. While neither of us is what you would call an athlete, we both have noted significant changes in our day to day quality of life as a direct result of being regularly attending members. When I first set out to try CrossFit, I tried a couple different gyms in the area. The sample classes seemed intent on pushing me as hard as I could go without much regard for my current status of health. Easily the most important part of Leverage for me, has been the quality of coaching. Dave and Sarah run a tight ship. They're not looking to break you. If you're having trouble with a movement, they're going to positively encourage you to work within your ability level so that you can make improvements without breaking you. The community Dave and Sarah started is great, too. The people at the gym are always friendly, welcoming, and encouraging. Most people know your name if you've been more that once. There are a variety of class times that should easily fit the needs of most people's schedules. The rates are competitive. Leverage offers discounts for veterans, first responders, teachers, and students. The facilities are always clean and well put together. The bathrooms are always clean (supposedly that's a thing? I never realized...). There's a nice kids area that a lot of the members take advantage of. I will too, once my kids get a little older and more independent. I've been a runner, I've tried spin classes, martial arts, and plain old working out at globo-gyms. While I'm not the greatest athlete, this is something that has worked for me. I can't imagine working out any other way. The constant change of pace, the variety of movements, the tempo of the classes, Dave and Sarah do a great job motivating you to be better, without crushing you. Check it out. You won't regret it.

I've been to many boxes (gym), but CrossFit Leverage is absolutely my favorite. Can't find better…read morepeople or better coaches than Dave and Sarah! The gym is amazing, the community is great, wish I could visit more often!

Once I arrived they had a nice little sign sitting outside that had the writing "Welcome Jade" on a whiteboard. That was the first time a company has personally welcomed me in that manner, I was pleasantly surprised. Once I entered the facility one of the first things I noticed was how clean it was and how good it smelt! The front desk lady welcomed me with a smile and gave me a tour of the facility. They have self-locking personal lockers, a bathroom with 2 showers (for the ladies, I'm assuming the men's bathroom is the same), they also provide earplugs, gum, and hair ties at the front desk. The studio itself is very impressive. It's split into 3 sections- cycling, strength, and yoga. Depending on the class you take will determine how much time you spend in a certain area. They have ride classes which is solely for cycling, Ride/Rep classes which is a mixture of cycling and strength, revive classes which is solely focused on yoga, and finally the traditional Spenga class which is the class I took and this class incorporates all 3 (Cycle, Strength, and Yoga). The Spenga class is a 60 minute class that is divided into 3 intervals of 20 mins. You get 20 minutes on the bike, 20 minutes doing strength training, and 20 minutes of Yoga. I found the class to be that perfect balance of challenging yet doable. Definitely expect to break a sweat! My instructor Lindy was great, full of energy, and motivating throughout the whole class! I sincerely enjoyed my experience here and can't wait to book another class!!

She is not amused. "Get over yourself" she says, and "If you look at yourself in the mirror one more time, I'm kicking you in the crotch" Nearly 100 sessions in the books, I have shoulders I've never had before. My stamina is through the roof. I can set the kitchen table using my glutes, including desert forks. Waking at 4:30 in the morning for the 5AM sessions with the rest of my SPENGA early AM weirdos takes a lot of adjustment, but me and the 24+ ladies "earn our sunrise", taking an hour to make ourselves a bit better than we were the day before. Give it a shot.

I had been using the machines at the local park district for years but they did nothing for the soreness and stiffness that has become an ever present companion as I age. Crossfit has been just the right solution for me. The workouts are done as a group and scaled to the ability of the individual. So my intervals and times are less demanding than some of the buff young guys (and even girls!). The trainer is very knowledgeable about physiology and has been able to identify my areas of weakness and show me how to address them. The workouts are always different so you never get bored. I enjoy the community as much as I do the workout. People encourage one another to do their best. It's not a competition. I tried the group workouts at the park district but they are all older women and I felt very out of place. Crossfit includes people of all ages and even some with disabilities (one of our members is legally blind). It is the next best thing to having a personal trainer since there are open gyms when you can get one-on-one time with the coach. I even hope to film some of my techniques so he can show me how to improve. I would recommend crossfit to anyone for general fitness, cardio-vascular, strength, and flexibility. The coaches at Glen Ellyn Crossfit are some of the most knowledgable I have ever had, and I was an athlete all the way through high school and college.
