I'm always careful with how much I add to my cup... like some others, they charge by weight and you don't seem to get a lot if you're looking to spend $5-8. Not my favorite fro yo place in the city, but I keep coming back because it's convenient and also because of trusty Jackfruit- the Amazon locker; ever since COVID, it seems most Amazon deliveries are 2-3 days, but if the item js small enough, I can get it next day if I choose pick up at a locker. A bit pricey -- I think it clocks out at around $0.87/oz (or $0.95/oz after tax). Staff typically is polite and professional. They keep counters clean and address customer concerns/questions about any froyo machines having problems. I like the displays of full nutrition information for each flavor. They have a good rotation of flavors (tart, vanilla, chocolate, some fun flavors), variety of soft serve types (2 oatmilk froyos, 1-2 sorbets, 1-2 ice creams, 4-5 regular froyos), and selection of toppings (fruit, cookies, chocolate, brownies, cookie dough, etc.). The froyo itself seems more watery than fluffy. While Tasti D Lite next door tastes a lot more like soft serve and have stronger flavors, the flavors of froyo here taste milder, lighter, and less sweet. There are a lot of ice cream options near me, but we stopped in at 16 Handles to try something new (and also because it was open late..)! The interior is pretty standard design and layout, with bright lighting and some seating both indoors and outdoors. Late at night there weren't many other customers, so we could try flavors and mull over toppings to our hearts content. A few other reviews note that the employees are happy to let you sample independently - this was our experience as well. The cashier handed us a stack of sampling cups and let us do our own thing. I absolutely loved the customer service - the less hovering the better, especially for a self serve froyo place. There were a few dairy free options (oatly and some sorbet flavors). I'm not sure how often they switch it up, but it seemed like a good assortment to me. We ended up getting a combo of the only 2 oatly flavors (iced latte and vanilla). The vanilla was my favorite and the taste almost reminded me of soy milk. Texture and flavor were good, and the froyo didn't melt too fast. I came here on a Saturday around 1pm. This is not the most convenient location for me, but I came here because they had some good flavors available that other more convenient locations don't have. Their website does seem to have the accurate flavors listed. So I check on each location's website link to see which flavors are available at which locations. That's how I decide where to go. I love Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel, and liked Cerealiously Loopy Made With Fruit Loops Cereal. They also still have Oh My Pumpkin Pie, which is a great seasonal flavor. Price recently went up from $0.69 per ounce, to $0.72 per ounce. This location is clean and not usually crowded. Always ask for sample cups to try a few flavors before you get a cup. Out of all of the fro-yo places I've been, this one was the most well-kept and friendly. There are tons of options as far as yogurt but three or more of those options were out of order. They had your standard options like vanilla, chocolate and coffee plus other unique items like salted caramel. They have over 50 topping options between candies and cookies and sauces as well as fruit and whipped cream. Everything is labeled and also tells whether it is gluten free or not. At some frozen yogurt places, you get looks of disgust from the staff when you accidentally drop a crumb of topping outside it's container but not here. The girl behind the counter was super sweet and friendly. She even gave out sample cups for those that asked meanwhile some other fro-yo places can be stingy and don't allow customers to sample. At this location, there was blueberry tease, birthday cake, chocolate love affair, cookies and cream, pumpkin, salted caramel, pecan praline, mango, euro tart (original) as well as a few that I probably left out, (don't worry I didn't taste ALL of the flavors haha). After all the tasting, I ended up opting for original only because I realized I wasn't in the mood for anything too sweet at the time. While I liked their original the best out of their flavors that day, I think I like the original flavor at other froyo places better. This could be because it was my first time here and I wasn't used to it or maybe I really am just partial to my other plain froyo. I will definitely have to come back to confirm whether I think that's the case! After making sure that the froyo placement was all good (yep, I'm one of those people), I moved onto the toppings area. When I told them not to touch her and to just go back inside and leave her they started yelling at me to "mind my own fucking business". They brought it outside onto the sidewalk. It is everyone's business at that point. Walked over here after having dinner in K-Town and had some mango sherbet and strawberry froyo topped with strawberries and kiwi slices. The strawberry froyo was sweet, so it was a good thing the mango was there to cut the sweetness. I have always heard the fame of 16 Handles but never had the chance to try until last night. As newbies, took us 2-3 minutes to figure out. You take the cup you like, fill as much as you want, add the toppings and sauces, weigh it at the register and time to eat! :) I got the waffle cup (+$1), with acai berry,nutella, peanut butter and mint chocolate chip flavors. I hope frozen yogurts have less calories than ice cream :) topped them with graham crackers, some mini m&m's, crushed chocolate cookies i guess? Whatever :) Acai and peanut were so delicious, mint good but nutella did not taste like nutella at all. It was something else. Toppings seemed fresh and well organized. 2 cups with waffles cost like $15. They have nice interior and many seats but tables were a bit dirty. I will stop by once in a week i guess. Brand new 16 Handles location that just recently opened close to where I work. Now I won't have to travel too far for my occasional fro-yo fix. Well, considering Tasti D-Lite, Berrywiild, and Pinkberry are also within a few blocks radius of this place I am basically surrounded. Pretty much the same layout and design as others I have been in. Tables, booths, and assorted seating up front, register counter and an absurd amount of delish toppings in the middle, and then the room full of self-serve machines dispensing 16 flavors of icy cold goodness. Yesterday after lunch it was a combo of fat-free graham cracker and Irish mint with a generous serving of chopped fruits such as blueberry, mango, strawberry, and pineapple as toppings. Cost can always vary as it is sold by the ounce, or depending on your level of gluttony, sold by the pound! You have to ask for sample cups from the counter people and they were pretty good about giving me a bunch to try out a few flavors. At the time of day I was in here around 3pm it was overrun with kids. Little annoying monsters that were all over the place spilling ice cream on the floor, hogging the machines and topping bar, yelling, screaming, and generally making me want to clothesline a few of them. You could see their moms and babysitters were beaten down at this point. I grabbed my cup and ran out the door to eat it on the way back to work. Another reason they are better is they have lots of different flavors. My favorite flavors are birthday cale, cookie dough and cookies and cream. Move over Red Mango, Pinkberry, and all other froyo places that once held a place in my heart, 16 Handles is now my one and only true froyo love. The Murray Hill location is definitely the best with lots of flavors, endless toppings, tons of seating, nice music, long hours, and even someone who passes out water late on Friday and Saturday nights. It can actually be quite amusing to see how many people want froyo before/after going to the bars...I have been guilty of being one of those people. I used to be a fruity/tart froyo type of person, but after trying so many of the dessert flavors here, I've converted! I love the mint and cookies and cream flavors!
