The interior was spacious but because we went later in the evening, most of the seats were put up, so we had to eat our froyo standing. They have a variety of flavors and you can sample as many as you want. I ended up getting their original tart with fruit and some other toppings. The price was pretty reasonable. I wanted to try 16 handles due to a stellar review from a friend. I got the small cup and got cookie dough, peanut butter, strawberry, Graham, and yogurt classic. The cookie dough tasted okay but honestly having the physical form of cookie dough in vanilla ice cream tastes better. The peanut butter didn't taste like peanut butter; more like chocolate. The yogurt tasted like Greek yogurt, which I was not that excited about but I just didn't know. The strawberry and graham cracker ice cream was good. I don't think the ice cream or frozen yogurt was that great. I wish it was more creamy or thick. It melted pretty quickly and it was very expensive too. This is a great location. There aren't really any other good choices for yogurt even close to walking distance, which makes this place even more valuable. I guess hipsters don't really like yogurt, as this place is usually pretty empty. This is really the only good dessert spot I like in this area, aside from the 10 minute or so walk down to OddFellows for some really excellent ice cream. I went here after the crazing for frozen yogurt was strong!!! They offered a good selection of toppings and flavors. While they don't have a lot of toppings the toppings they do have are amazing and tasty!! Graham cracker icecream is the winner along with chocolate crunch topping.The yogurt itself is a little runny instead of silky which takes away from it a bit. The girl that works there looks like she hates her job when asking for a sample she hands you a cup and just doesn't care. They started mopping while I was eating icecream I mean cmon? Our cashier was very nice to us. She greeted us on arrival and asked us if we would like sample cups. That's the first time I've ever been offered sample cups so she rocks just for offering it without me having to ask. We tried numerous flavors here and they were very satisfying. I was a huge fan of the cheesecake and peanut butter flavor. My daughter were a fan of the fudge flavor yogurt. I am a little disappointed that 3 flavors I really wanted to try, were out and not being refilled. I wanted to try the Salted caramel but there wasn't anymore, also cookies and cream and red velvet. I was actually expecting all those wonderful flavors to be empty, because seriously, who doesn't love salted caramel and the other 2 flavors? I will be returning again and hopefully with those flavors being fully stocked. My 4 stars are based on customer service and decent flavors. Now is this establishment decently tasting? Absolutely. Is there anything new, special, or different about this establishment from any other Yogurtland, Pinkberry, Tutti Frutti, etc.? Not really. So even though I kinda bashed on this place a little bit at the beginning, I still really do like froyo places like this, and am a fan of all of them. Each one has a similar set list of above average base flavors (coconut, acai something, gluten free chocolate, etc.), and the customization options are all relatively in line with one another as well (assorted fruits, differing cookie crumbs, various cereals, etc.). When you combine these realize that you only have to pay by the ounce, something magical happens. The price to taste to quantity ratio begins to steadily increase. Perhaps its because they only have to pay one person to work the cashier that they can afford to pass these savings along to consumers, but in the end, these types of froyo establishments are all welcome in my book. Was there a certain mind blowing flavor you NEED to try here? As much as I view this location as being a part of the demise of Williamsburg's grungy hipster, small mom and pops businesses, I still love 16 Handles. I know how hypocritical this statement is. But the truth is, Williamsburg has been changing for years and it was only a matter of time before the Duane Reade and Fro Yo stores sprang up on the lesser commercial side of the river. Alas I love 16 Handles so very very much. Yes, they are a big chain, but a chain which I think does a nice job. This location is huge, with a lovely bubble gum pop vibe to it, as all of their stores are. Great music, super friendly staff, free samples of all of the newest flavors. What what, passionfruit sorbet you are my new lover. What what, salted caramel... with the caramel sawce (rhymes with BOSS) with a generous amount of crushed peanuts on top. Did I mention that while I was here during opening weekend I saw a preggo hipster lady get into a fight with a sassy Asian lady and almost duke it out over the fudge dispenser. Yes. That really happened and yes both of their respective husbands / boyfriends wanted nothing to do with it, but in the end had to forcibly walk the two away from one another. Oh Bedford. Oh 16 Handles. Brand new frozen yogurt chain opened up in my hood of Williamsburg. Its really nice and clean. The people that work there are friendly too. Since it was my first time there, I had to ask a couple of questions. I prefer not to have dairy when not needed so I tried the watermelon sorbet. It was good but it tasted very artificial. I guess thats what you get right? If I ever have kids I would not let them eat that stuff. lol One star gets taken off because I'm major OCD and I like things to be handled correctly. Having to spoon out your own toppings makes me a bit paranoid. When fro-yo was my obsession, I was very loyal to one particular brand- not 16 handles. This 16 handles business seemed like trickery with the whole self-service thing... "so you're telling me i can have as much yogurt as i want... okay... GADZUKES, how much is my yogurt?!?" Fast forward to several years down the line and I have not only learned self control, but also to be open minded about dessert. My lady pals and I had a GNO and ended it with some fro-yo (does it annoy you when i say fro-yo? I kinda hate myself for saying fro-yo). This 16 Handles isn't really new but its so incredibly clean and inviting that I felt the flutters in my tummy telling me to "GET THE BIG ONE!". I pulled in the reigns to have just a taste of two yogurts before making my decision. I ultimately decided on the cookies and cream with peanut butter. Once you serve yourself your ice cream, you can then add toppings from the topping bar. They have anything from fruit to cookies and even some things you wouldn't even think of putting on your yogurt. I tried to keep it classy (and affordable) with pb and oreo yogurt topped with chocolate chips, strawberries, slivered almonds and for fun goji granola. $7 later i was half crying, half smiling over my dessert. Fro yo is about the simple things. It's a brief experience meant to inspire childhood nostalgia and satisfying instant gratification. The froyo itself doesn't always matter, but the context of being in a colorful, whimsical environment with friendly staff is meant to transport the froyo connoisseur out of their humdrum realm for few precious minutes. Yesterday a female member of 16 Handles staff at this location went way above and beyond the call of froyo-arbiting duty and made my miserable day infinitely brighter in the light of her kindness and empathy. I am only sorry I didn't get her name but she was working here 11/19 around 4 pm and showed me, total stranger, some epic level compassion. I'd just lost my phone on the Marcy ave station platform and was a little heartbroken and agitated my scandalous awful selfies were making the interweb rounds already so I decided to drown my sorrows in chocolate froyo. When I came in and made some unfunny joke (more an announcement of actual fact) about guzzling frozen yogurt to selfishly console myself over my first-world problem this chick was beyond nice. Nice is what losers say to make you trust them. Everyone should be basically nice. It's not a compliment or an extra positive attribute. This chick was rad. I didn't expect anyone else to actually give a shit because my crappy motor skills dropped my phone but she listened, asked me about it and seemed genuinely concerned about my not having a good day.
