Such a special neighborhood gem. I can't do dairy, but luckily most ice cream spots have non-dairy options. The problem is, at most places, a little ice cream treat is pretty pricey now. They range anywhere from $7-10 for one scoop. Insane. Enter: Uncle Louie G. The single scoop is a nice after meal or small snack size for $5! I think the next size up is only 50 cents or a dollar more and is a bit bigger. So worth it - takes me back to 2019 when prices were reasonable. I especially love the non-dairy mint flavor. Uncle Louie G is a local spot that has been in the neighborhood for as long as I can remember! My earliest memories of this place is, I remember one day after elementary school, I was in the third grade and I had gotten a perfect 100% on a math test! My mom took me here to celebrate and the owner at the time I believe Mario (May God rest his soul) gave me an ice cream for free! While the owners have changed. I have to give it to the people in charge. They have done an amazing and fantastic job keeping this place alive and serving as an iconic ice cream shop in the neighborhood! One of my favorite things they did was how they preserved and added to the ice cream statue outside! They painted a bunch of cartoon characters from today and from the past on the benches and installed these cute little lights and confettis to add to the decor. The ice cream and the ices still taste amazing! It tastes just as I did when I was a kid! The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming and I will continue to come to this location for as long as they are here! It's super convenient right outside the L train! I had low expectations for this place, but it really surprised me. You get a lot of ice cream for very inexpensive. I got two scoops for $5.50. I got the peanut butter cookie dough which I really loved. The Rocky road was good as well. Friendly staff. I like that you can walk up to the window in order. No line. read more

Uncle Louie G's ice cream shop is a perfect hole in the wall (literally ordering through their window service) that offers a nice and welcoming vibe. I'm monogamous to chocolate and had the single scoop of chocolate fudge brownie icecream and this flavor impresses me with its rich, creamy texture and deep chocolate taste. I had a little less brownie bits than I would have preferred but still enjoyed a perfectly sweet and satisfying combination of flavors and textures. Following a fantasy league summit, Kyle N., John A., Samuel B., and I decided to pass on the fried ice cream donut at Win Son and pursue ice cream elsewhere. There wasn't a Jeni's and Ample Hills in sight, but we did some Yelping and found Uncle Louie G, which looked like a solid option. The place is a no-frills stand in Bushwick with a funny "giant ice cream cone" 5-foot statue in front. You can get either Italian ice or actual ice cream, and there are about 20 flavors each. I was simple and went for chocolate. Sam B., a professional reporter for New Food Economy, had to act like a reporter and ask endless detailed questions about the differences between the flavors, holding up the line. This aside, the ice cream was really great, and a bargain at $3 small, $5 large. I should have gotten another cause I was still really hungry afterwards. On a summer day, it's also a nice spot to just chill and discuss life and things like public transportation. Many rent-a-vespas were out in force, and we discussed whether, when all inputs and outputs are calculated, these are actually helping problems like congestion (local) and climate change (global) or not. It's a debate that'll be ongoing, especially with the inevitable scooter arrival in NYC soon. After a beautiful day lounging on Pompano Beach and enjoying the views from the pier I wanted a snack. Yelp to the rescue with Uncle Louie G's just over the bridge. It's located in a cute plaza with a pizza place, a burger place, and a cafe, so I'll have to remember this plaza is here for other beach trips. They had a few customer already enjoying their treats, but no line. They have a very large selection of both ice cream and Italian ice (probably at least 20 flavored of each) and the man behind the counter was happy to give samples. My boyfriend being the more avid dessert lover went with ice cream. Brooklyn cheesecake I think was the name, in a sugar cone. I spotted huge chunks of cheesecake in it, so I stole a piece, who doesn't want chunks of cheesecake? I went with something more refreshing, a small lemon Italian ice. It is served in a cup that looks kind of small, but Italian ice tends to have a richness to it, and this one definitely did, had I not loved it so much I may have had trouble finishing it. The lemon was the perfect combination of sweet and sour and the ice had a creamy quality to it. I can't wait to go back and try more flavors. I typically think of Italian ice as fruity because my favorite flavor is the lemon, but they offer more dessert like flavors such as cannoli and cake batter as well. The service was friendly and the price was reasonable. Located on the north side of Atlantic this is the perfect place to stop for a post beach cool treat. read more

The place looks like the franchisee has neglected it for some time.
