Had a decent visit to 151 Bar & Restaurant. The menu has your typical bar/restaurant offerings. I really enjoyed the seasonal cocktail apple-rol spritzer I got. Fried pickles were not overly battered which I like. They come with ranch but I also got horseradish mayo. That left a lot to be desired. If I get something with horseradish, I want to feel that burn but you couldn't taste any horseradish. The burger was nicely cooked and had a great char broiled taste. I normally do not write reviews, but my visit to 151 was beyond ridiculous on Monday night. Found an open seat at the bar, (Right next to the server station, I might add) and was ignored for over 15 minutes with no acknowledgment of me sitting there. Bartender was serving countless people up and down the bar all around me. I was understanding he was busy, but a simple hello would help your customer service until you can get to them. Communication is key. Two men walk up to the server station to be served. They were immediately noticed by the bartender, served, and bartender still had not even said hello at this point. I overheard one of them was a Bar Manager, but both employees. It was busy so I was trying to being patient. At this point, another employee walks in from outside (In uniform) and joins the two and says "I just did some shots of Jim Beam in the parking lot!" Puts his hand on the corner of the counter by my seat to prop himself up. Then leans/stumbles back into me, unaware apparently that someone was literally right next to him? One of the gentlemen say watch out, he does not move, looks over his shoulder and says "Am i bothering you?!" ....so I respond "Um yeah kind of?" Extremely rude & unprofessional. It's basic decency to be aware of your own personal space and surroundings? Especially by an employee? Had I not have walked to the restaurant I would have left, just wanted some quick food. Only AFTER this encounter I am recognized by the bartender. I ordered a beer and my food. Immediately asked for a box once the server brought it out. When I could finally get the bartenders attention again, I asked to cash out to leave. During all this, the drunk employee was still standing around being extremely loud talking with buddies. During part of their conversation, I quote, "I may be an alcoholic but atleast I change my clothes" Attached is a picture of the DRUNK employee after the shots must have hit and he needed some food at the bar, just so there is no confusion. Not that the restaurant seems to care much about presence of staff. If I could give 0 stars I could. I frequently eat out since I travel for work , this is by far my worst restaurant experience I have EVER had in my life. This place was great. I sat at the bar and was greeted immediately by the bar tender. He was super friendly. I was out for a burger and my go to place was closed that day. Their burgers are simple and you can add what you want, but it was delicious. Juicy patty, fresh ingredients, and a delicious bun. I sat at the outside bar and it was nice. Nothing too fancy. I've been here a couple of times, and my opinion is somewhat middle of the road. I'm not a fan of the place on weekends with the larger crowds and all the TVs going, it just gets too loud for me. I'm fine coming here during slower times. Their beer selection isn't of as much interest to me as the options at other nearby places, but I can usually find something to drink. This place is super spacious with plenty of bar space and many table options for decent-sized groups both inside and outside. The draft list was full of local brewery Frog Alley options (including two sours! SWEET!) with a nice variety of cans and bottles, including ciders and seltzers, too. The speciality cocktail menu was a hit for summer-drink fans and it was a nice touch that ice waters were delivered when our waitstaff first approached us sitting on the ledge bar outside [it was a seat-yourself situation] on a Saturday evening. Our server was attentive and friendly, and clarified things as we placed our orders to make sure they were placed correctly and we were incredibly happy with our visit. [spoiler alert: we were!] We shared the pigs in a blanket featuring perfectly salty pretzel dough wrappers and wonderful whole grain mustard - we added a side of honey mustard dip which was also delicious. These were especially wonderful paired with the watermelon sour beer I enjoyed. Not in the mood for sandwiches or burgers, we ordered another appetizer and a salad. The piggy tots were topped with SUPER DUPER bbq pulled pork and melty cheese. The croutons on the grilled chicken ceasar salad were especially flavorful. The salad is served dressed by the kitchen, but was not overdressed, which is often a complaint I have when ordering pre-dressed salads. The chicken ceaser salad WAS nice, but my eyes grew large watching lots of other salad options walk by us to make their way to other tables. Our waitress later tipped us off that the plates we had most often stared at longingly were the caprese salad topped with grilled or blackened chicken. I know what we'll be trying next time! Popped in for a nightcap after leaving the casino. They have a large garage door type indoor/outdoor environment for nicer summer weather which was cool. A double knob creek for $10 was awesome, maybe it's the area but at home in NJ that would be $15-20 so I appreciate the solid prices. Seemed like there were a good amount of people here as they were closing up on a Friday night. Bartender was very nice & quick with service. Def recommend stopping in for a drink. read more

I'll go here for drinks because I like the open garage door. The outdoor space is also nice for people watching. Unfortunately, the food is blah. Drinks are okay, but selection is not my favorite. The service is also always slow, whether it's drinks or food. Ultimately, the location makes it a decent meeting spot for me, but it's not a true favorite. Bathrooms are also so violently lit up, and kind of run down... makes me wonder what goes on in them, haha, as it's never that wild when I am meeting friends. read more

Last time I posted a review for 151 was five years ago but rating and comments are still the same as they were then. They have made minor changes to their name. Menu is larger but still amazing extra crispy parm garlic wings. Tried a Calzone and it was amazing to. Dough was light and we end up using the extra parm garlic sauce rather than the red sauce to dip calzone in. Food was amazing and tasty. It was nice coming back as it has probably been a year since our last stop at 151. Great sports bar with amazing food. I have to say they still have the best wings hands down. 151 is a very cool spot to hang if you want to take in downtown Schenectady. Their patio might be the coolest in the city. On my most recent visit they had live music and the table I sat at made me say "Schenectady is actually rather beautiful" for the first time. Let me get one thing out of the way in this review first. 151 has Clam Chowder that will make you jump for joy. Either their chef has New England roots or they stole someone's secret recipe. All I know is that it is the bomb :) Some genius also decided to place a fried Ipswitch clam on top of the cup of chowder. Brilliant idea! I have not had it in quite some time. Hopefully their preparation is consistent. They have a varied pub style menu here. The pizza is OK. The crust was crispy. Being a pepperoni connoisseur I found theirs to be rather bland. The tomato sauce is decent though. They are certainly not a pizza destination but I believe most folks will be happy with it. Their wings are also good. They have the traditional options and one that impressed my large group of foodies. They are called "Italian Style" wings. This is my first time experiencing this preparation and boy was it delicious. The wings were cooked crispy, still juicy on the inside. They were coated in a vinegar heavy sauce and accompanied by fried green peppers and pickled spicy red peppers. These wings are a must try at your next visit. I liked the medium sauce but the wings were a bit rubbery. I saw burgers and sandwiches on the menu too. They have a nice sized list of draft beer as well. Prices are on the higher side so expect to pay a healthy sum for your meal. All in all 151 is a great hang with decent bar food. They should be a popular destination in Schenectady for the forseeable future. read more

I came here with a group of friends recently to try out some of their food, drink, and ambiance. We got plenty of all of that, though some parts were better than others. As for the setting, we sat outside on the patio and listened to the sole guitarist play music for the crowd. He was loud, though at times enjoyable. At other times, not so much. However, when he was playing it was so loud as to prevent myself from hearing anyone except the person next to me. I found it annoying. His fill-in guy wasn't very entertaining unless you wanted to see a grown man poorly sing Brittney Spears (and continually flub the chord progressions in the process). Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid the loud music so you either take it or leave. We sampled their mozzarella sticks, three types of chicken wings (parm.; Buffao; and Italian style); eggplant fries, and two types of pizza (pepperoni; white broccoli/bacon). Their mozz. sticks were what you would get out of the freezer but I liked them and their marinara sauce was nice and bright. It made the eggplant fries taste great, though admittedly they came with a white dipping sauce too which I didn't try. The wings were decent sized and crispy... perhaps a bit too crispy... and the "Italian style" had lots of hot peppers which were really good. The parm. wings were dry and really lacking any flavor though lots of parm. cheese crumbs remained on the serving plate. The Buffalo style wings were unremarkable- indeed, I cannot recall if they were hot, medium, or mild. Their pizza was the subject of division in our group. I thought the pepperoni pizza (ordered "double pepperoni") was extremely ordinary. Had you told me it came from a gas station or roller skating rink I wouldn't have blinked an eye. The crust was nice and thin but extremely hard... and while I enjoyed gnawing on it I don't think it was fit for a pizza. The white pizza had broccoli and bacon. Most people complained it had too much bacon and not enough broccoli, as well as little or no garlic or ricotta cheese. But, I actually enjoyed it more as it tasted like something (bacon) whereas the pepperoni pizza tasted only of grease. When we paid our bill we discovered that it was quite a bit more than we expected. Had the food been better I wouldn't have minded, but in general I found the pizza lackluster and the wings (save those Italian ones) average. Add in some music that really took away from a nice social evening out with friends and I doubt I would go back. read more

Not bad! I came here early for some food before some Elite drinks. This place is definitely more of a bar than a restaurant. Walking in at 615 on a Thursday, it was very very loud. they had live music, which is nice. but everyone had to yell at each other. It was crowded, I am not sure if that is a result of it being Schenectady Beer Week, or just a normal Thursday. Wolf's Hollow beer was their feature for Beer Week, but they only had one variety on tap. it was enjoyable none the less. We started with a basket of onion rings. they came out in like 3 minutes. it was crazy fast. they were good, not the best. I wish i had gotten the blue cheese to dip them in. that stuff was incredible. I got the traditional medium wings, my boyfriend enjoyed the garlic parm boneless (chicken nuggets lol). The traditional were surprisingly good. they were meaty, fall off the bone tender. I requested extra crispy, but they were not very crispy. The sauce was a little gloopy, which is not much my style, but the taste and heat was good, and went great with that blue cheese. The fries were not great, just frozen fries, but also a good vehicle for the blue cheese. My boyfriend liked his boneless wings. they were basically butter and cheese soaked, chicken nuggets. The portions were huge, and that is worth a comment. When the rest of the party arrived we all decided to try the pizza. It was decent, thin crispy crust, but the toppings were a little too heavy handed for the thinness of the crust. I had the sliders. They were well cooked and were served with shoe string fries that were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I am not a French fry gal at all but this I liked. There was something special about the buns they used for the sliders. Very hearty and a great quality is the best way to describe them. Service was good but the seats are not very comfortable and it doesn't make you want to sit and chat. I didn't get a warm cozy feeling. But if you are just looking to get a nice meal and a beer....... you can't go wrong! read more

Food was good ... shoe string fries weren't shoe strings more like bits at the end of the bag but tasted good. Service was good. Everyone was very nice! Ambiance was very very loud! Every table had to shout to hear each other. My compliant is when we received the check and paid by credit card we were not told of the service charge that was added for using a card. Also, gratuities were added and we were a table of 7. Both are fine! We would have felt it was the right thing to do and let us know. Neither were. Again, it's fine to add both. My kids took me here for Mothers Day Lunch Our server Chole was super friendly and attentive. Chole interacted with my seven year old granddaughter making our dining experience so much fun! Chole also wished my daughter and I a Happy Mother's Day, so sweet. The drinks were good my two daughters ordered wine Red Zinfandel and my son order the sour beer and later on a Blueberry beer. We choose to eat on the patio as it was the perfect weather to do so. We ordered some mozzarella sticks and fries as an appetizer. The Melba sauce was yummy. Our food orders came out in a timely fashion and was piping hot. One of my daughters ordered a chicken Cesar salad and the portion was huge, chicken was cooked to perfection. My blackened chicken sandwich was good, my other daughter ordered a cheese burger and it was cooked the way she ordered it. My son ordered bone in wings with a mixture of BBQ sauce and hot sauce. They were able to accommodate his order. My son lives is Buffalo and is a wing connoisseur LoL, he said the wings were "edible." Sorry no pics, it's my rule that when we dine as a Fam no cell phones allowed. There were other families dining celebrating Mothers Day on a late Sunday afternoon. They have the best home made blue cheese. The wings are also good. Make sure to order them crispy. Had to order an extra side of blue cheese to dip the dip the fries in. I only wish they were not shoestring fries as they are a little difficult to dip. May daughter had the sliders and she liked them. It was actually our previous encounter with the Onion Rings ($6) here that brought us back so quickly. Now I'm concerned about consistency. On this visit the O Rings were still nice thick large slices with a good amount of coating, but while I would have guessed that the rings were mostly breaded on the first visit, this time they seemed more like they were dipped in a batter. Comparing my photos has brought me to this conclusion. I believe I enjoyed the first experience more than the second. We also ordered the Mozzarella Sticks (six for $8) on this visit and enjoyed them with Melba sauce. The cheese had a good stretch to it, the bread coating was light without any added herbs, and the Melba sauce was flavorful albeit it bit runny. My wife's Burger ($9) was a perfect medium-rare, once again, with optional sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms, and cheddar cheese ($1 extra each). I decided to try a Chicken Sandwich ($9). Choosing to have the breast blackened instead of either grilled or breaded, I found the amply seasoned thin cutlet to be overcooked and dry. I tried adding some Ranch dressing along with the lettuce, tomato and raw onion but that didn't help. The toasted roll looked like it had been hacked by Norman Bates. The Fries served with both of our sandwiches were dry, flavorless and again, quite salty. There were a couple of changes in their draft beer selection since our last visit, and we both agreed we preferred the Firestone IPA over the Fat Tire ($5 each). Service was still friendly and welcoming, and the noise level is reaffirmed as being quite loud with only about a score of patrons present. It there is a next visit it's likely to be for beer, burgers and pizza. That's what keeps Firestone 151 OK. read more

I've been eating here regularly since Firestone 151 opened and not because it has the most inventive menu, not because it's the most inviting environment, and not because the pricing is dirt cheap. I go there because what they do on their menu, albeit simple, they do really REALLY well. It's the type of pub where you can go with your friends for a nice lunch, grab a bite while watching a live show, or grab drinks with friends after work. During the warmer seasons, they have an excellent outdoor seating area overlooking Schenectady City Hall, which is a really beautiful building, and the dichotomy of Firestone's modern industrial space and the historic City Hall in the background is an excellent reminder of the various revitalization projects going on in Upstate NY. While all of that is great, it's the food the keeps me coming back. Right out of the gate, their french fries are freaking AWESOME! If I could live off of french fries, I absolutely would order these every day. Like the rest of the menu, they're not fancy, just super simple and well done. As for the rest of the food, it's a bit of a DIY menu where you start with a basic sandwich, burger, pizza, or salad. Then make it your own with toppings. With that said, my personal favorites are the mushroom Swiss burger, the grilled chicken sandwich with Swiss, bacon, and the turkey deli sandwich on toasted whole wheat with bacon, Swiss, lettuce, and Russian dressing. I have yet to try the pizza, but I hear from friends that it's pretty good. The space is also fantastic for live music indoors and outdoors with a pretty fun and jovial crowd. Sometimes people dance, sometimes everyone just chills, and other times it feels like a crazy party with a wide variety of people from every walk of life. If there's any criticism I can throw toward Firestone is that I'd like to see them add pickles to their plates. It's weird that the burgers don't come with them on the side and I miss them greatly. And it would be great to see an Asian inspired salad on their menu with dried cranberries, mandarin oranges, almonds, those crunchy noodles, with a sesame-ginger-peanut butter dressing ~ sounds great, right? read more

We ate here (1st time) prior to seeing a show at Proctor's theater. Service was fine.- our waiter was friendly & attentive. The food, though - lackluster is the best word to describe it. I had the caprese panini, and it couldn't have been more blah - the bread was a little off-tasting, as though it was old, and there was one small, limp piece of basil on each half of the sandwich. I order capreses often if they're offered, and I don't know if I've ever had a bad one until now. I left half of it untouched, mostly because the weird taste of the bread was unsettling. My companion had the fried baloney sandwich, which he said was okay. The fries were also just okay, although the onion rings were thick, perfectly fried, and delicious, and the beer was cold....so something was good, anyway. My friends and I went here to celebrate a couple 21st birthdays. The server took a quick look at my friend's ID and said it was "clearly fake," when it was a real VT license... My friends were annoyed so they went up to the bartender to get a drink. The server was offended by this and told us all that we needed to leave. The server was too stubborn to consider that she may have been wrong. It was very confusing to me as this is a college town-- you'd think the servers would know how to identify real IDs. Obviously it wouldn't have been a huge deal, but the way the server talked to my friends and went about kicking us out was incredibly rude. Will not be returning. read more

We stopped in here this past weekend with some family to watch football, have some drinks and enjoy some food. I wasn't impressed. The menu is very small, burgers, wings, pizza or cold sandwich. The draft list wasn't too impressive either. From the looks of the outside of the restaurant, I thought we'd be going into a nicer place, but it's much more bar-ish than somewhere to sit down for dinner. In the past 151 was our go to restaurant whenever we are in the area- due to COVID we hadn't been back and as we were passing through town we decided to stop for dinner- they were understaffed(most places are these days) so that didn't take away from the experience- However the food has changed so much- the menu was promising - we ordered a tuna melt panini- a buffalo chicken panini and a blackened chicken sandwich and piggy tots- The piggy tots were the favorite- the pulled pork over the tots was very good. However the sandwiches fell flat- the sandwiches were $14 each and came with shoestring French fries- The tuna had very thick cheese over it so it hide the taste of the tuna- the blackened chicken sandwich was dried out and tough- however when cut up and dipped in a side of blue cheese it was much better- the Buffalo sandwich was good but nothing that would bring me back. In the past we have enjoyed the Blue cheese - they made the most delicious dressing- creamy and chunky- this was very different and not at all close to what we remembered- In the end this is a bar with bar food- Love the atmosphere - has a great patio on the side- Has a large bar and plenty of tv screens to what whichever sports team is playing- great place to grab a drink and some piggy tots read more

Atmosphere is great, service sucks, food is mediocre. I have been here 2x, both times I have had terrible service. Wait staff is no where to be seen or sitting at a table eating food. They have bad attitudes and don't check on tables, very long wait to place an order or get your bill. Pizza seems to be the best option here! Never disappoints. However, the fries, burgers, and chicken wings are the likes of Pizza Hut and Wendy (and that's being nice). The wings are very gummy and fatty, like the Pizza Hut wings, fries and burgers are frozen and nothing special. I would probably only come back for a drink and appetizers. This place has the makings of a cool and far bar. The issue for us was that we were immediately turned off by the lack of service or direction on how we actually get food and drinks. The bar was completely full and finally after 20 minutes of just sitting there I went up to the hostess (who was standing 15 feet from us the entire time) to ask for some service. She then told me that she was our server and acted like we should have known that. Anyhow, even once we got our first round we still had to flag her down every 25 minutes. The first time I went to 151 was a week night and upon entering the restaurant the first thing we saw was a sign saying that the kitchen was closed, so me and my partner left. The second time going to 151 was Tuesday, July 2nd, 2022. I wanted to give 151 another try so I did. When me and my partner walked in the restaurant it was a confusing atmosphere, that said we didn't really feel welcomed (we were starred at). While at 151 guests were screaming loud with people inside and outside of the restaurant "drinking too much most likely", guests were openly smoking weed on the patio and no employees of any kind said anything about what was going on. I ordered a tuna melt sandwich and it was terrible! It was the worst sandwich I've ever had in my life. The cook didn't even put salt or pepper on it, it was like it was just thrown together, and when the server asked me about it several times I was finally honestly and she gave me attitude when I was honest. I didn't get anything else to eat because who knows what was taking place in the kitchen (I also work in a restaurant). When the server brought us our bill she brought our bill with nothing on it but the bill total, which means they were still trying to have me pay for something that was terrible. Let me start with a pro.....the atmosphere was impeccable and nice ambiance and music was good. DJ was nice and came to table to speak with us in regards to music selection- A1 service NOW FOR THE CONS: 1st off NOT WELCOMING to COLORED PEOPLE When entering the bar the atmosphere was nice found a seat, sat for over 20 mins and had to ask for a server. The server a young caucasian female, was very rude when we advised her that we were still looking over menu. She then returned and took order with a attitude which was ignored. At about 937pm the server with the attitude came to the table and DROPPED the check on the table and walked away no conversation or acknowledement at all, when she returned up the stairs we did ask her as to why she dropped the check on the table and her response was SERVICE IS CLOSED GET YOUR DRINKS AT THE BAR. We then asked to speak to a supervisor/manager and the bartender and young woman with blonde hair and we were explaining the situation she was dismissive to the fact that the server was RUDE and INAPPROPRIATE but she did apologize and stated that the tab would not be closed and that we could get drinks from her and she did because of the BAD customer service her server provided offered us shots for the table and she stated to not say anything to the server, NEVER not ONE TIME correcting the server in regards to BAD customer service. As we continued the night the server adv the bartender that our group was loud and called her a "bitch", this NEVER happened as we did not speak with this young lady at all after the initial interaction. Then the Asst Manager came to our table per request as we were just trying to make him aware of the difference in service between us african american men and women to the other caucasian attendees at the bar and grill who at this time were still receiving service as WE were advised service was over at 930pm. So with speaking with Asst Manager he was very RUDE as well stating to move on from the situation as it has passed never acknowledging the terrible customer service his servers were supplying to us. One of the members of our group tried to order another drink from the bar and was adv YOU CANNOT HAVE ANY DRINKS WE ASKED YOU TO LEAVE, YOU CANNOT PAY YOUR BILL, now mind you our bill was $39.44 and the REASON the bill was NOT PAID AT THIS POINT was because we were still puchasing beverages or we were trying to. This was the MOST horrifiying experience while trying to enjoy a night out as they were insenuating that we were not able to pay the bill, not even realizing that everyone at this table is college educatued as well as making a higher income of living. SUCH A DISGRACE. We were never asked to leave and we NEVER made a scene in the enviornment as this is the expectation/reaction they were trying to recieve from us. The bill was PAID COMPLETELY and we did leave the estabilshment without incident. BUT THIS WAS THE MOST EMBARRASSING AND UNACCEPTED ESTABLISHMENT for people of a different ETHNICITY that i have ever been to. NO one took the time to understand or correct any of the wrong that the STAFF up to the MANAGERS of this establishment had done. I will ALSO reach out to the corporate office and supply them video of the interactions so that this kind of situtaion does not happen again as this bar and grill has a wonderful atmosphere just not wonderful STAFF. SORRY 151 BAR AND GRILL you really need some culture sensitvity training and customer service skills to keep this bar open and patrons of other races comfortable to enter your door. read more
