The visual aesthetics of the building and energy of 13 Magickal Moons makes it the most impressive experience I ever had in a metaphysical store. Loved the sky like and spherical shape of the ceiling. I was told the building was a ballroom and is located by the oldest building in Occaquan. The staff was courteous and professional. The inventory was unique and well displayed. Loki the cat was enchanting and entertaining. The shop has three cats residing inside the store with their photos displayed outside of the building. The other two cats were asleep. Found a lot of items I wanted to purchase. My husband selected three surprise gifts from my selections I put aside for him to go through their: books, tarot decks, and jewelry. Looking for the coziest witch's nook in the Occoquan? Look no further! This unique New Age/Occult shop has everything your heart could desire and then some. Most mapping apps will route you to a mostly closed building on the right side of the street with a red roof. Ignore this! Go farther down the street, cross the road to the left side where you will see a small closed building and then a larger older structure just up the hill. That is where you want to head! Follow the drive way up the hill and you will see a wooden sign saying "13 Magickal Moons" on the ground against a pole. This can easily be missed. Just head up further, go up the stairs on the right and you will find yourself on their doorstep. Yelpers only seem to have old photos which didn't help. Apparently this gem has been in the area for 17 years! During that time they have relocated 3 times and will again be shifting in January, though fortunately just expanding farther into the building they are in now. I invite you to look at my updated photos and visit this local gem for yourself. They have a beautiful unique inventory with many handmade items at affordable prices. This was the first magick store I ever stepped foot in, 7 years ago at the very start of my witchcraft journey (back when it was in a different building in old town!) It's an experience that is integral to my journey and one I will never forget - because the witchy woman at 13 Magickal Moons made me feel so welcomed and seen as someone who had just opened herself up to the craft. We had a lovely talk about spirituality and she even explained the meaning of the pentagram to me. She added me to a FB group for witches which had tons of online resources and ebooks about witchcraft - I am so beyond grateful for the kindness and wisdom of that lovely witch I encountered at this store. She really helped steer me in a direction that empowered me in my witchcraft journey and it's one of the stories I hold near and dear to my heart. I have returned to this store a few more times over the years to purchase herbs and witchy tools. If I lived closer, I would probably visit every month but because of the far drive, it's a special treat for me to go once in a blue moon. The staff here was amazing. I was having the worst weekend and I swear, my soul lifted immediately after I walked in... it was the happiest i had been in weeks. The amazing lady behind the counter gave me a great pep talk and a hug, and sent me on my way...... spirit officially lifted!!!! I was so excited that I found this store online, that I went there the same day. I just got inspired not too long ago to get to know my spiritual side so I am very new to everything. I was hoping to conversate about many topics in this direction, to get some more insights and learn, but the lady working there wasn't having it. I also asked if she had time for a reading but she said she was busy. So I scrolled for around 15- 20 min around never got asked if I need any help, so I bought some Crystals and left. What a charming little shop! When you first enter, it's kinda like stepping into a another world. The ship itself is tiny, yet somehow the owner manages to fill it with the cutest treasures. The candle collection is filled with a vast array of colors and intentions, but the crystal area could use some more options. There were several that I kept an eye out for, and none were available. There's also a special section filled with hand-blended herbs, which is actually quite charming. Especially the beautiful ribbons and bottles they come in. The owner of the shop was extremely pleasing to be around. I loved her attitude and how she treated a small child that was in the shop. First of all, I had a lot of questions and I hope she didn't think I was rude (especially being out of town) and she took them in stride and I loved her attitude that came with it. The store was beautiful in itself, a little confusing on how to get up the stairs but we found it and honestly, hearing the history behind the building the shop is in made it even better. Samantha is super friendly (one time I stopped by while she was just sitting down to lunch and her and the other girls at the table were super attentive although they were trying to eat! Anyone else would have huffed and puffed I'm sure). I just LOVE their oil selection. They offer such a wide, affordable variety (I'd buy them all if I could!). Same with herbs. Plus, 13MM offers witch bottles and cerri-a-witch spell packets. I love that Sam makes all the candles there -- they're a tad on the bigger side, but they do have many colors of the smaller, much quicker burning chime candles. She makes spirit animal, Sabbat, zodiac, God/Goddess candles, etc etc. I always spend so much money there -_-; but hey, I got a praying mantis spirit candle (where else could you get one of those?!) read more

She was funny, personable, and extremely helpful and insightful when I was looking for certain items. I find their prices extremely competitive to other new-age/witch/alternative stores in the DMV. I visited a store previously where a single palo santo stick was almost $3, while 13 Magickal Moons provide 6 palo santo sticks for under $7. Their witch bottles are popular too, and are super cute. I felt like they provide almost everything you could need in one store (which are two cute rooms), rather than having to hit up several stores just to make sure you are finding what you need. They have incense, sage, palo santo, wands, scribing tools, various herbs both mixed for specific things, or on their own. They have jewellery, cute home items, witch bottles, pele packs, and a variety of stones in addition to even more. read more

This is a cute little shop for all the witches out there. It's small, but it has a good amount of products that you could enjoy/need. The store is located at the end of Mill Street (close to the rounded street) and on the second floor. The stairs is located on the side of the building. Cute entrance, I might add. When you enter you can smell the nice incense in the air. It's not a large shop, but it contains items such as oils, custom candles, herbs, stones, and kits that you may like. I've gone a few times already and I'm always welcomed by the owner or whoever is working the shop. If you're allergic to cats, I'd probably pop an allergy pill because the owner does have cats in her shop. I had a stare down with one of them that was sitting at the counter...the cat won. My favorite part of the shop is the small room containing a wall of various herbs. I love mixing different herbs to create the perfect atmosphere for me. They also have a few choices of incense sticks as well. If you need coal for your incense burner, they do sell those there, too. I have yet to attend one, but on the shop's website, they do have a schedule that offers various classes of the witches circle.I'll do an updated review once I attend one of the classes. If you're in Occoquan, this is a nice little place to check out. Go have dinner at one of the nearby restaurants, and then go shop for a nice custom candle to enlighten your inner self! read more

I've lived in the general area for college for 2 years, but never made it down to the Occoquan area. After moving back up, I knew I wanted to see this area and have a chance to check it out. I was looking around for an occult shop, and found this shop on Yelp and convinced my bf to come with me here. The area itself is very cute, charming and I'd like to come back to walk around and dine. We came on a weekend, so parking was a bit of a hassle to find. Not very many spots, and no actual parking lots either. We went up the stairs to the second floor of the building and went inside. We were greeted by two kids, no adult in sight, and a few cats. Says a lot of the trusting atmosphere of the area. I was looking for dragon's blood resin in particular, and went towards the little dark room in the back, to the left. I found the baggies of herbs and found what I was looking for, plus more. Good selection of stuff, but a bit hard to see back there. There's oils next to the door, crystals and candles in the other room towards the right of the door (and a BIG cat). The shop-owner came out after a few minutes and was very nice and welcoming. I ended up purchasing two crystals and the rest of the dragon's blood resin, and the total came out to a decent price. She even put the crystals in a little bag with lavender. I called one day looking for something particular, and the staff member spent forever on the phone providing guidance. The location is super cute because it's in Occoquan-- but the high hill it sits on feels scary. The parking here is limited too-- so be ready for that. They have cats in the shop and I stop breathing around cats (yawn)-- all that considered- the staff member did the shopping for me and brought everything out to my car for me and took my payment inside and came back. Hard to find little store, but a Gem once you do. Really decent herbal selection, and quite a few Magickal blends to choose from. My husband and i took a day where we only visited magical shops in the DC area. This one was out of the way so we decided it was just too far. On our way back home there was a monstrous traffic jam, and guess what the only immediate available exit was? Yup you guessed it. Occoquan, VA. My husband remember that this was the store that was out of our way, so we happily took the exit just for this store. As we drove into town, the beauty from its dated construction and vintage charm. The stores in the area you could tell were built well and built to last. There looked as though the town was surrounded by a river, with deep hills throughout. On top of one of these hills facing the water was 13 magical moons tucked away and almost hidden. Do not shy away from taking the drive into the area that say private property. You are in the right place. As i walked into the old house there is a sign that specifies the shop is on the second floor. Already intrigued by the decor of dried herbs and the wooden floor, i was halfway expecting to find an elderly woman as the shop keeper. We reach the top and there are brooms, tree branches ornately fashioned for decor, and display purposes. One room i find wands, shop made candles, spirit boards, and spell bottles along with other items, in the other room adjacent to it there was jewelry, herbs, a beautiful broom i wanted to take with me, but it was too large, and stones along with a lady around my age (30's) sitting infront of a heater talking with her 3 beautiful children. This store and town was so memorable. I want to go back just to spend the day. I do not believe in coincidences. However as bad as the traffic was when we got off the highway, it had died down tremendously when we got back on the road. I guess it was destined we were supposed to stop there? Okay so this amazing new age shop has been around for almost a decade, maybe not quite. They are presently located along the main drag of the town on the upper level above the Carpet Shop and that brightly colored Polka dot diva store. Just before the Museum and river foot bridge. We you go in you will find a large selection of nice silver jewelry, gemstones, essential oils, cute little kitty cats who are not for sale and of course candles. They are all homemade and crushed with gemstones used for their magical properties. they come in a large variety of sizes, colors and uses. Another nice draw to the store is her wall of dried herbs, flowers and spices which can be used for more than just witches spells (I made my unique camomile tea that included rosehips) This is what some may refer to as a pagan/neo-pagan/or wiccan store but even if thats not your draw that shouldn't rule out visiting this place. They have tea nights every wednesday which is a great way to meet new people or get to know the local area. In the many years I've lived and worked in the area I've never made it out but to one and I thought it was nice. there were snacks :-D I have gotten a tarot reading by Johnny before. He is not there regularly but during certain events/or appoints. I thought he was very friendly and well spoken during the reading. They also teach classes here, The list/schedule of classes should be listed on the website. They cover many topics such as Reiki Levels 1 through 3. The classes are pretty reasonable priced at 15 per session. That is kind of a steal in comparison to places like this offered in place like San Francisco or other large cities. Anyways if you still think that's too much for you (I know how this place is also a big draw for jobless teenagers, lol) then FREE tea nights are still a great time to visit. I'm not wiccan, but I came here about a year back while taking a required religion course. The course wasn't about Wicca, but we had a term paper to do at the end and the teacher was nice enough to let us go after any religious tradition at all. Wicca came to my mind as something I knew nothing about, so I picked that. Yada yada yada, I ended up at this store to observe/participate in their open Litha ritual and ask some questions. The store itself isn't huge. I have nothing to compare it too, but I feel like they're sold out of some things frequently and don't restock fast - probably because the demand just isn't all that high. So I'll knock a star for that.Tons of candles and crystals though. The staff and owner are super friendly . They made me feel welcome despite my stream of probably stupid questions, and they helped me out a ton talking things over with me. Their cats wander the store freely too, which is great (if you're a cat person, at least). The store has a "good vibe". I don't really know how to explain that. It's a relaxing place, sort of by the water. Not really far from DC, but enough of a drive that it feels like I'm somewhere else. Not really in nature, but at the end of a cul de sac surrounded by trees. I don't go much, but I've enjoyed the atmosphere when I have. They have tea nights on Wednesday, which I've never made because of distance and other stuff taking up my time. The courses seem to be pretty reasonably priced. Near the beginning of the year 13 Magical Moons moved to Rock Ledge, which is across the street. Even though it's a bit of a drive for us my husband and I come here for tea nights and classes. We found the store shortly after they opened and have brought several items for our wedding here. Been married for 13 wonderful years. Don't know what store the guy who only gave it only two stars, but it was not this one. Or what he was looking for. Sam always had a large selection of herbs and stones. Her candles burn great. The jewelry is not second hand. Some are hand made. When we come up to Occquan we spend most of the time hanging out here. read more
