    Eggs Benedict & American breakfast
    Kristen C.

We loved this breakfast so much! Upon scanning the menu, I picked up on some southern American influence like buttermilk biscuits & tomato jam- but they did it so much better and with a French flare! We loved speaking to the woman who sat us, she seemed to be the owner and it turned out she was from the southern United States! She was very sweet and was working so hard to keep the line short, pulling out tables and chairs for anyone who walked up. We did not have a reservation and she made a spot for us immediately! Wonderful twist of American-meets-French breakfast! The ambiance is adorable and eclectic. Would recommend to anyone!

Amazing little cafe with impressive meals and a pleasant beer selection. This place features a southern-US component to their menu with pulled pork and their take on chicken & waffles but with biscuit French toast and oven fried chicken. I had the veggie quiche and it was stunning. Plenty of food and a salad as well. Reasonable prices and Jay the English speaking manager is awesome. Did I mention view of the Luxembourg gardens and beautiful people walking by? I wish I had room for the gorgeous desserts. Last note, you can get real iced tea here, not Euro iced tea...I will be back!

Just downstairs from our Airbnb apartment was this great new cafe. Seems to be owned/staffed by Americans so English isn't an issue. The sign inside says "Bienvenue Ya'll". Outside are lots of plants and whitewashed tables. It's a very pretty cafe. We had Sunday brunch there and I went down later in the afternoon for a drink. I had the broccoli bacon apple salad with a buttermilk biscuit on the side. Amazing! Lightly dressed and every bite was tasty. The broccoli was lightly cooked which I appreciated as I don't care for it raw and crunchy. My husband and son each got the French toast, one with sausage and the other with bacon. Not a speck left on the plates. They did a good job with the flavors all around. All organic too. I went back later and had a Moscow Mule as it was super hot that day. I sat on the terrace (no smoking allowed, yay!) and sipped my drink and read a book. They make their own ginger syrup and this mule was plenty spicy and sweet. I loved it. They are having a very low key soft opening, I was told. This is a new incarnation of Treize in this new location. I hope they do well - they were delightful and the food and drink was excellent.

    Princess Bride Omelet (€17)

13 au Jardin is a hip restaurant located across from the Jardin du Luxembourg. The interior is luscious green, decorated with various potted plants and herbs. The tables are adorned with cute pepper plants and vines hang from the walls. Just as the restaurant itself is earthy and visually pleasing, its ingredients are locally-sourced, and its dishes masterfully plated. The restaurant gives off low-key American country vibes: the menus and walls are scrawled with hospitable southern slang. Menu items include the French Toast and Not-Fried Chicken, the "Inconceivable!" Princess Bride Omelet, and Quinoa Porridge, in addition to an extensive drink menu--two pages of any tea, coffee, beer, or wine anyone could possibly want. My friends and I ended up ordering the French toast/Not-Fried Chicken and the omelet, with each item costing a whopping €17. We had to wait quite a bit before the food came out for our group of three, perhaps since we stopped by rather early in the morning. Fortunately, there's a lot more substance to the food than meets the eye. Although we were initially disappointed by the seemingly tiny portion sizes, we were satisfied by the end of the meal. My omelet came with a side salad and a biscuit. I can't say the omelet was anything special, except maybe that it had a bountiful assortment of vegetables unlike the usual tomato/spinach/mushroom combination found in most omelets. The salad was topped with an interesting dried fruit and seed mix, but like the omelet, tasted like any generic salad. The French toast was slightly better. Soft on the inside yet somewhat crunchy on the outside, it consisted of an intriguing juxtaposition of textures. The drizzle of honey gave it the perfect amount of sweetness, and the mango topping and sprinkle of dry nuts gave the dish a sweet and salty finish. The Not-Fried Chicken was alright but paled in comparison to the French toast. Overall, I felt like it was a steep price to pay for mediocre food, although I appreciated the sustainability and aesthetic of the food.

I couldn't tell if this was a real apple or some fancy French creation made to look like one - that's how real it looked! The mousse and apple bits were cold & delicious and the chocolate shell was good, but not sure if it was worth the price at €7.5. + Pain Au Chocolat Cookie - Verrrry good chocolate chip cookie, chocolate croissant mashup. Only thing that we were missing was some good ol' milk! + Almond Croissant - Once again, delicious! Solid croissant and definitely a good grab and go candidate. = Citronnade - Was just OK. Lemonade that was on the watered down side, but was somewhat refreshing because I was dying of thirst. THE SERVICE ----------------------- - Employee who helped us with our order was friendly, but the cashier was a bit blah and not exactly the friendliest person, especially when we asked for extra utensils and napkins. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ - Smallish, tight interior that you can dine in at, but don't be surprised if the next table is sitting on top of you. + There are also 5 outdoor tables on the narrow street. - Entrance is tight too. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- + Even though this bakery is ranked highly on Tripadvisor, there was no crowd on the Monday morning that we swung by. We came here for some coffee on a rainy afternoon, but were pleasantly surprised to see escargot on the menu too and figured we'd give it a shot. Coffee wise we got the vienna coffee which had chocolate inside. It was good, with a nice espresso flavor and a huge dollop of whipped cream on top. A nice pick me up for the day. The escargot on the other hand, was so fantastic. They were served all cute in their little shells on a tray, and bubbling when we first got them. The green sauce that they came with was fantastic, and the butter was also a great addition! This made for such a flavorful little bite - escargots taste like little chewy clams to me, nothing strange at all. It also came with a few pieces of baguette to soak up the yummy sauce. Service was friendly and the inside of the restaurant has such a nice vibe. I would definitely recommend this spot!

They have a clean bathroom upstairs, you'll just need to climb the staircase. We ordered the strawberry crepe and duck and asparagus galette bretonne. So there's actually a bit of a difference between a crepe and a galette. Crepes are usually sweet and made with wheat flour, while galettes are usually savory and made with buckwheat flour. Between the two, I enjoyed the strawberry crepe more, the strawberry jam made the crepe a delicious sweet treat. The flavors of the galette weren't as satisfying to my tastebuds, but I still enjoyed it. I would be interesting in trying other galette flavors next time. While my expectations weren't fully realized (I didn't LOVE it), I still enjoyed giving Breizh Cafe a try. We didn't visit enough crêperies on this trip, so it's something I look forward to doing the next time I'm back in Paris!

I had a dessert crepe with bananas and ice cream (think bananas foster, Parisian style) and it was very reasonably priced and delicious.
