Had a mediocre experience with Audra and 12th Street Portraits. She was 15 minutes late to our 1-hour photography session, didn't answer her phone during that time, and didn't seem overly apologetic that a huge group of people - including several young children - were left waiting on her. She did take some good pictures, but they could have been a lot better if she didn't suggest such specific poses for the adults (which felt and looked unnatural for some). My biggest complaint is that in the group pictures, she failed to notice that one person was staged much further away from the family than everyone else and that another person was in direct sunlight, washing them out entirely. This is something only the photographer can see from behind the camera lens and failing to do so had a real and negative effect on the quality of the photos. Lastly, it has been 2 months since my family's photos were taken and we are still waiting on her to edit out the other random people that were on the beach at the time and are in the background of the photos. Overall, this business has plenty of room for improvement. read more

I will give 2 stars because it was nice to be with my entire family. Unfortunately I was harassed once I stated my opinion to the photographer and said I was not impressed with our family photo. Never once did I raise my voice, use profanity, nothing! I simply stated I was not impressed. She accused me of being rude. I explained I was sorry, but I was entitled to my opinion. And explained that is why I did not purchase the family photo. She continued on and on about my rudeness. I really have no respect for a business run like that! If I treated people like that I am sure I would no longer have a job! read more

Our family took beach photos this summer with photographer Katie Foster of 12th Street Portraits. We had twelve people total in the pictures, with several sub-groups. Katie was cheerful and patient throughout our shoot and happy to work with us to get all of the poses we wanted. She also instinctively figured out ways to help our autistic nephew participate in the photo shoot in a way that made him comfortable. We love how our photos turned out and I know everyone in the family will treasure them for many years to come. We'd never attempted a large family beach session before but we had a great experience and are so glad that we did it! read more

We had our family portraits taken with both Audra and Katie while on Christmas vacation last year. Usually the family pictures can be a pain, especially with the short attention span of the babies/younger kids....not only were they able to make it a pretty fun experience, the kids loved the girls! They had a blast and we ended up with a ton of great pictures...pictures are worth a thousand words right - we couldn't put a price tag on this session and experience...we loved the girls and they treated us like family. Would highly recommend and will be back during our next OBX vacation. read more

We booked our session and indicated we wanted to do both family portraits and senior portraits for our daughter. Our rental house gave us a 30 minute photo session for free, but we paid $200 to extend it to 2 hours total in order to get all the shots we would need. I spoke with Katie multiple times prior to our session to discuss thoughts and ideas. She recommended different wardrobes and locations for our daughter's senior pictures. Even with the 2 hours we had booked, there definitely wouldn't have been enough time for changing or switching locations. I had high hopes and loved so many of the family photos that I saw on the website. We did the family photos first and it felt very rushed to me. I didn't love the poses she had us do and asked for a few others after she told me she was done with the family shots. When it came time for the senior photos, it felt like she wasn't sure what to do. She said it would be 2 weeks until the photos would be available online, but it actually took a full month. I feel like the photos were mediocre at best. When we selected a senior photo for the yearbook and indicated how it needed to be cropped (as a headshot), we were told they don't sell individual digital photos. We were forced to buy the DVD of ALL the photos for $500 just so we could get a digital photo to submit for the yearbook. Needless to say, I'm disappointed and feel tricked. When I conveyed my feelings of disappointment, the response basically said "our website lists our pricing." I suggested they rethink that policy for senior photos going forward. The moral of the story is that I paid $700 for my daughter's senior photos that I don't really love, and I don't even have any prints yet. I'll be purchasing those elsewhere with my DVD. read more

A good friend referred me to Audra and her company when I was looking to get some pictures taken with my girlfriend for our anniversary. Audra did such an amazing job (and at a very reasonable price I may add) that I asked her if she would help with some photography services I needed for my business that I recently started. And again, she was amazing! Not only was she extremely talented with the camera, her professionalism was unmatched. She was responsive, timely, and captured exactly the essence of my business that I was hoping she would! While she is definitely great at taking family portraits, her versatility to do other photography work sets her apart. I would recommend her and her company to anyone! read more

I can confirm what the other poster wrote. We were set up with a free photo shoot through our realty company. The photographer was professional, easy to work with with, a few minutes late to our appointment (but thats not really an issue), and the photos were very good. She took 44 photos and when we went to purchase we had the options of printed photos in packages (its 2014, lets get digital please), $500 for all the photos digitally, or $125 for ONE digital photo. We were only interested in 4-5 of the shots so all those prices were ridiculous. They refuse to work with us and as a result will get none of our business. Just something to keep in mind if you get a "free" shoot with them. Dont buy new clothes or go out of your way to make it very special unless you want to fork over some money to get the results in the end. read more

The photo session itself was great. However the follow through with ordering was very difficult. I'd recommend looking at their products before booking your session with them. If you just want some standard sized prints, then they are probably a fine choice. If you want anything special that requires communication (i.e. digital images, holiday cards) with photographer expect long wait times, and frustrating communication. read more

We rented a home in Corolla, NC and received a FREE photo session with 12th Street Portraits. I called to inquire how much they charge for the .jpgs of the images, as the cost of the pictures were more than I wanted to spend. The photographer, Katie, told me that a .jpg was $75 each and was a hi-res image. I spoke with my family and we decided we would go ahead and have the session. When I contacted Katie to order 3 of the .jpgs she increased the price to $120 each picture. In an e-mail to me she admitted she misquoted but WOULD NOT honor her mistake in the price. Before the vacation everyone in the family spent money purchasing special clothes for the shoot and we spent a good chunk of our afternoon all preparing for these pictures. I am very unhappy and disappointed in the customer service of this company. They could have made $225 off our family for the 3 pictures we did want - now they will make nothing. read more

If I could give this review no stars I totally would, that's how awful my experience with 12th st portraits was! The photo session with this company came free with our vacation rental. I was really excited to book the session because I absolutely love pictures and since we had family with us I thought it was a great opportunity to get family pictures. Audra was not very pleasant during the session she seemed more irritated than happy. It kinda made me think why offer a free photo session if you don't really want to do it. But whatever I was still grateful and couldn't wait to see how the pictures turned out. It took over a month before the pictures were available and they were honestly awful. I could've taken the exact same photos with my phone. There was no editing done whatsoever and when I asked her why they weren't, her response was," I like to keep the photos with a natural look." But if I wanted them edited I would need to send her a list of which photos and what type of editing. Here's the best part, I took the time to go through the pics and sent her the list, she DIDN'T DO A SINGLE THING!!! There were pics with my phone sticking out of my back pocket, I mean come on seriously?!? Even after all of that I still ordered the ridiculously over priced pictures, not because I liked the pictures, but because they were pictures of our family. Please do yourself and stay away from this company, it's so not worth it!! read more
