Simply amazing working with Lori. The beginning of the year, I booked a summer family beach session, 4 adults and 2 preteens. This was our third year getting beach pictures taken. We have used a different photographer each year. I had already scoped out Lori's work on Facebook and on her website so I was familiar with her style. She was transparent about everything (including prices) up front from start to finish, which is always appreciated when budgeting during a vacation. All of correspondence was over email. I always received timely responses. We agreed to meet at our rental house and walk the block to the beach. Unfortunately, the weather is unpredictable and we had to postpone our session to the next day. Of course, Mother Nature chimed in again and it was drizzling on and off more frequently the closer we got to our scheduled time. Lori was in touch with me via text throughout both days. Because of her flexibility, we were able to get our pictures in just in time! I paid with a credit card at the end of our session. I received the pictures in 2 weeks (the stated timeline) via email. In addition to about 180 pictures, I also received a slideshow set to music of some of the best shots. There was a great variety of pictures taken (candids, posed, close ups, from a distance, colored, black and white). The pictures beautiful! I will definitely use Lori again. Do not hesitate to book Lori for you OBX photos!!!! Lori did an amazing job with our family portraits during a trip to Corolla this summer. This was a special occasion for our entire family so I spent a lot of time researching photographers at the Outer Banks. The quality of Lori's work shown on her website is what helped me to decide to go with her for our portraits. She communicated very well and made the arrangements to meet at our rental house. She was on time and ready to go! Lori has a very friendly personality and made the photo session fun for all of us. She was also extremely positive and engaged with our kids well. So much, that they were coming up with ideas of where to have pictures done. They wanted to be photographed even more! My family and I hired Lori for family portraits on the beach for my Dad's birthday, in total there were 8 of us in the pictures and Lori managed to get amazing shots of all of us (and many different variations of the group)! We are obsessed with the proofs and have struggled to pick favorites. You can't go wrong with Lori, having a photographer who was so fun and easy to work with made us all completely comfortable and genuinely smile/laugh in all the pictures. She was also great about letting us pick the location and we did pictures on Duck Beach (near our house) with the ocean, dunes and even walked down to the large pier - which I highly recommend if you're taking pictures in Duck. We have a huge variety of photos to pick from in different settings and groupings and feel so lucky that we were able to have Lori capture the people we love in one of our favorite places. After searching out photographers online for our upcoming Outer Banks trip I contacted Lori to schedule family pictures for our group of 18, 6 of them 12 and under. Being a photographers daughter myself, I made a list of specific groupings I wanted and particular poses I wanted to make sure we did - I didn't want to forget anything as my husband's side of the family had never done professional pictures altogether before. Lori was absolutely perfect, she brought my list with her and got to work and the whole sitting flew by, and everyone got right into it. We absolutely fell in love with the results, which included a nice slideshow set to music. The slideshow was the first thing we received and passed along between us. We all watched it several times and cried many times as well, so happy we took the time to capture our family reunion. Lori is just a terrific person. We were down in OBX 4 years ago and made arrangements with Lori to have our oldest daughter's senior pictures taken there. She was super nice and made our (then) 17 year old at ease and have the most beautiful pictures of her. Fast forward 4 years later...due to Covid we were unsure if we were going to be able to make it to OBX. I found out 6 days before leaving we were able to come. I reached out to Lori, as our twins are now seniors, and we made arrangements to have their photos taken. I was in awe, that she was willing to make the time on such short notice. I think Lori's photos speak for themselves, but after working with her in June, I now know she was an amazing find on the Outerbanks. I had researched and read other reviews, I loved how she captured the light and the simplicity of her pictures that I loved most. This was our first family beach photo and I had talked through in advanced what we wanted and we knocked out the beach session in an hour. Lori is fun to be with and shared lots of laughs as we got the list accomplished plus many more pictures the kids wanted. Lori emailed us the pictures in two week as promised. I was overwhelmed with emotion watching the beautiful video she put together in addition to all the picutures. It was more than the Christmas card photos we had wanted, but she captured a moment in time, of the whole family, that will be forever special. read more

Lori is amazing, if you are looking for a photographer in the Outer Banks area she is the one! Our family vacations there, and my daughter wanted senior pictures on the beach after doing some research I found Lori's website, I was impressed with her galleries. I reached out to her she was quick to respond answering all my questions, I told her what we were looking for and she helped us pick the location. She connected with me a week prior to our session to make sure everything was still on. The day my daughter's session was scheduled the weather was iffy but Lori suggested we give it a try and I am so glad we did, it was a beautiful evening. We just received our daughter's senior portraits and we couldn't be happier, they are all so beautiful it will be impossible to pick just a few!! Lori photographed her while we were vacationing in Corolla and she not only makes the photo shoot fun and relaxed but she makes the whole process enjoyable from start to finish. We had a rainy day in July, 2019, for our beach photo shoot with Lori Douglas, and the photos came out great! Lori knows her business! The rain stopped about an hour before the shoot. Though Lori offered us other photo dates due to more threatening rain clouds, we chose to risk it and do the shoot. She knew the atmosphere could be to our advantage and it was - fairly empty beach, a more comfortable air temperature, and the clouds and waves were beautiful backgrounds for the photos. Lori was tremendously accommodating to our family group of 10 and the requests we had for group and single shots with beach and dune backgrounds. From our first contact via email last winter, Lori has been friendly, helpful and attentive. On the day of our shoot she came to our rental home and got to know our family as we headed to the beach. Definitely chose the right person to take our family pictures! Lori is a class act! We had planned to take evening pictures at the beginning of our week and due to weather we had to reschedule ( which was an absolute breeze) to further into our week and in the morning. Lori takes wonderful pics.  That can be said about a lot of photographers. What is unique about Lori is the ease and naturalness with which she takes family pictures. We thought that our family would be at least a bit of a challenge for Lori.  There were 29 of us.  Lori was not fazed in the least.  She took pics of the whole group and every conceivable breakdown of the group.  I had no intention of including my 2 dogs.  Lori had them included from the get go.  Everything just flowed beautifully.  Crazily we were done in 30 or 45 minutes.  It was fun. We love our family portraits! Lori answered all of my questions prior to our session, arrived exactly on time, and was a perfect photographer for our extended family of 19. She was attentive to our requests for which shots we wanted, and just as importantly, didn't push us to get shots we did NOT want (some photographers insist on "all the men", or "oldest and youngest"). Her relaxed demeanor put all at ease and the smiles she captured were genuine, never forced. I've always wanted a family portrait on the beach and with 3 young grandchildren we decided that this was the year! We are so happy with the photos that Lori took for us! She arrived at our beach rental right on time. Lori started taking pictures as we walked to the beach and spent the next hour or more taking whole group shots, grandparent/grandkids shots, individual family groups, and lots of pictures of the three littles. My husband booked a photo shoot with Lori to celebrate my twin sister and I turning 40 this year. My family has been vacationing on the Outer Banks for over 25 years and he knew it would be the perfect spot. I cannot say enough! This was the best shoot I could of ever asked for. My husband and I never had a wedding. So now at our 20yr mark we were looking for pics on the obx beach our favorite place while we vacationed. Lori was more than accommodating. I love in New Jersey and she worked with me to make this all happen. Turns out my husband surprised me with a updated engagement ring and he had spoken with her and she caught the moment perfectly.
