This used to be my favorite restaurant in Florence, wow has it changed. I was so disappointed last time when I ate there this summer I decided not to write a poor review and just hoped it was a one time thing. DO NOT EAT HERE PEOPLE! I think the ownership had to change hands. We arrived around 6:45 on Friday. The place was full but it is off season so not to crazy. We choose a seat at the bar and this is where the chaos starts! The waitress/hostess/bartender/stock girl finally got out drink order after 5 or so minutes. She was spinning! Slamming food down at every table in the place. Literally RUNNING around the restaurant. Telling every customer how slammed she was and oh my gosh the drinks she was making, if you didn't order it right from a spout or a bottle you were doomed. In fact, the guy sitting next to us (who was drinking a non-alcoholic beer) was in shock! Openly commented on the absurdity of the margarita making! It was total chaos. I can't begin to explain how many do no do's the crazy server did. Whoever was in charge, which I never saw even one person who looked in control of the food or service the entire time, how any person who owned this place could let this type of commotion go on is beyond me. So the food, bread was hot and good, no butter- finally she brought some- it was frozen! Out of a huge box that she slammed down on the counter grabbed about 8 frozen packs and slammed them on our table, not kidding! My partner asked for more bread, we got it right from the refrigerator. Cold cold cold. No effort to serve it warm like it was a few mins prior. Meanwhile other servers and coming into the bar making their own drinks. No one is in charge! Bartender waits all the tables and really doesn't even tend the bar. We got our order, apps, salad, and entree. Yep you guessed it all at once! The worst seafood cioppino I have ever had. The crab was thrown in the soup out of the shell cold! It was so bad I can't even begin to go on. In short. Do not go to this train wreck of a place. The food, the service and whatever management that didn't exist. How it is still busy proves Florence is a busy place in the summer and winter. You would be better suited starving yourself. read more

It was my mistake to visit this restaurant on Labor Day Weekend. We arrived for a Saturday lunch. We were seated right smack up against the kitchen area with a speaker playing music in our ears. We asked to be reseated and got put at a table by the front door that all the waiting customers stood in front of so I felt crowded. I think sitting on the back patio is the best seating here. The waitress recommended the halibut with lobster sauce. It had a nice crust on it but the sauce was unremarkable. My husband had the oysters and liked them. The side salad was good. This place has a one person restroom. They need another one. We had three people waiting and we gave up eventually. I felt rushed. I'll try them again on a less busy day! read more

Went while on vacation. They sat us, party of 3, in the back room. We were there less than an hour & had just finished our meals when the waitress said they had a party of 30 & needed us to leave. We ate here 2 days in a row. That says a lot about a place. However, I think our meal the first night was a 5-Star and the meal our 2nd night was a 3.5-Star. So I rounded it to 4. Ryland (wait staff/host) - super funny and friendly young man! The service was kind of on the slow side - but it was Friday and Saturday night and the place was packed both nights. Had the Lamb Shanks & Fried Oysters on night 1. Super YUMMY on both! Had the Halibut and Seafood Pasta on night 2. Just OK. The lobster sauce that came on the halibut looked like there WASN'T any the first go and requested extra and it made a huge difference. The seafood pasta lacked flavor and depth. This is a cute little spot hidden in Old Town Florence. The hubby and I went there in our travels up the coast, looking for a nice place to stop when we pass through there. We found this place online and it's cute bar/restaurant. Parking is stree and is not great. Hubby loved his food. I ordered the chicken marsala and at first look it didn't look like I had expected, but no problem there. Then I took a bite and OMG it was super sweet, and didn't taste like the Marsala I expected, but I was really hungry. I shoveled down a few bites (bc I was starving) but couldn't eat more. So I took it home to try later. Later that day my tummy started to feel unwell. Long story short, the next day my son ate my leftovers and he started to feel sick as well. No one else is ill. So I dont know what was in the chicken but it was not good. Doctor said we both had food poisoning and thats all we ate...so be wary. Note: Husband did not get sick off his plate. We always manage to find ourselves dining at Restobar at least once per visit while we're on vacation in Oregon. It's always been a decent Italian restaurant, especially considering the size of Florence. The service is pretty consistent, and the food has never been disappointing. On the whole, given the context that this is a small town, I would normally put Restobar at a solid 4 stars. We obviously like it enough to keep coming back. Things were a little different this trip. We went to Restobar earlier in our trip, and were compelled to return because of the charismatic musings of Rylan. He's a young member of their wait staff, and he is highly amusing. He seemed to read customers very well, and could tell I didn't mind some friendly roasting. Within earshot, I also heard a number of other customers compliment and thank him for his great service. I do not want to discount the very capable, accurate, and much appreciated service of our actual waitress, Mercedes, but having Rylan walk around providing additional atmosphere was the cherry on the top. Hidden gem that became the best experience of our vacation. The first night we went we sat on the patio and had the most amazing bottle of wine and the most wonderful waitress Stephanie. The food here is superb and we ate there repeatedly on our vacation. However, if you are Vegan, make sure they attend to the details. I ordered a pizza without cheese and it came to the table with cheese. Their Vegan burger is served with a buttered (toasted) bun so ask for "no butter". Today the I ordered a salad with just the plain vegan burger on the side. I removed two stars because when I politely ordered that the burger be cooked vegan...the wait person said in a very loud voice, " I'm sure glad I don't have that PROBLEM! Whether or not you just don't like meat or meat doesn't like you---I'm glad I don't have that problem!" Then she laughed hysterically. I am actually super surprised this place has pretty high ratings. Not sure if there are new owners since the last time I've been here but things have changed. Three of us came in on a Sunday for lunch and it wasn't that busy at the time. We were seated pretty promptly but where she placed us had dirty seats and it was right by the door, which was awkward so we later asked to be moved. We moved and it still wasn't that clean. There was hesitation to continue on and order, but we did anyways. Food is decent. Definitely not what we remembered. The Alfredo I had was basic. Nothing special about it, but the price was pretty fair for portion. Clam chowder was good. I had another soup (forgot which one), but there was waaaay too much cumin in it so I couldn't eat it. Bread was very good and their salads are good for the price. Service could've been more attentive. Overall, I didn't mind eating here but I won't be rushing to come back. read more

I was highly disappointed in this place. The yelp reviews made me think this place was gonna be great...but it wasn't. My husband and I were on vacation in coos bay and drove and hour up to florence, and this place is right in the middle of 'old town' florence. The line was nice and short and we were seated quickly. First problem I had are the drinks. This was our first vacation away from our baby, so you could imagine we were excited for drinks! I asked for a sweet white wine and was told a brand (I forgot what brand) and when the server brought it to me, it was a really painfully dry wine. My husband got a Margarita, which had like 10 pieces of ice and was barely mixed. The food was the most disappointing part. We ordered crab cakes for an app. They were extremely thin and you could barely taste the crab. For my actual meal I ordered the seafood pasta ($18) which is way more than I ever order. But the pasta said it included halibut, scallops and shrimp. It only included one scallop and one piece of halibut. It was tossed (actually completely doused) in a garlic alfredo sauce. Overrated by locals, IMHO. I've only eaten there once, and that will be the last time unless a group insists. For two years I stayed away because it was noisy and crowded the one time I had ventured in while looking for someone. Recently, some friends wanted to meet for lunch there, so I reluctantly went. It was still noisy and crowded even mid-afternoon. We could barely hear each other talk. We had personal-size pizzas. Supposedly Restobar is famous for its pizza locally, and my friends liked theirs, but I've had better Freschetta and DiGiorno pizzas. Not the greatest service, either. Well, I guess some people like that crowded bar feeling and just drink enough not to recognize that the food is bad. If you like that sort of place, go for it. read more

This is a very nice casual Italian restaurant in Old Town Florence. We had lunch here on the small covered outside patio in October 2020. Our server was very friendly and helpful ,they prepared a special dish of linguini with fresh clams for one of our party. All the dishes were excellent. Portions were generous and prices reasonable. Great place for a nice family meal in Florence. We were passing through and decided to check out the Old Town Florence. Two of us walked up to 1285 Restobar at around 6pm on Monday night and were seated right away. Love the family friendly and old town ambiance. Staff was very friendly, polite and professional. The service was good. The waitress took our drink orders soon after we were seated. The cocktails came quickly. The mango margarita and the colada were both good. We put in our orders all at once, the clam chowder, the steamed clams, the steamed mussels, and the seafood linguini. The waitress was attentive but not intrusive. She paid attention to our meal and served everything at our pace so food came out piping hot and delicious. Big chunks of clams in the chowder, well seasoned, rich but not heavy. The steamed clams and mussels were so fresh and tender, not overwhelmed with seasoning and spices so you can really taste the freshness of the sea. The seafood linguine came with a fresh piece of cod, 3 large shrimp and 2 scallops tossed with linguini (cooked al dente) in a delicious creamy Alfredo sauce. The pastas and sauces my husband and I chose were quite flavorful but the food was not hot enough for our liking. He had ahi tuna with marinara on spaghetti and I had linguini with marinara. Wine and beer selections were diverse. If the food was hotter I would have given them a 4. We are vacationing in Florence and if we return, I would give them a second chance. read more
