Farther along our stroll along Bay Street we wandered in to Restobar. Enjoyed a delicious bowl of clam chowder and a Caprese salad as chasers to a drink at the bar (better opportunity to strike up a conversation with some locals than sitting at a table). The interior and exterior were clean and bright. The restaurant itself was nice, it had a simple, almost modern, style. The customer service was great and so was the staff. Was in Florence for a few days mid-week and with many restaurants struggling due to post-COVID hardships, it was difficult to find a puppy friendly restaurant that was open. Stopped by Restobar and got an outside table right away. Rich, the server, was so kind and attentive and made sure that my pup was taken care of as well. Wow, that was rough. All of my "give the small business owners an extra star for effort" is why this is 2 stars and not one- because when you're dropping money, to leave feeling bummed- and hungry- and TOTALLY dissed- is not ok. As usual,poor service and poor food = I have a poor attitude. Food problem: parmesan crusted halibut was last to the table- it was lukewarm on the edges and completely raw in the middle. When the 2nd piece showed up, (after the other 3 diners were done eating) it was also un cooked- translucent in the middle. At this point the order was canceled. Service problem: On the first occasion, Halibut was taken away with NO comment, and no explanation. No offer to bring back the pasta so there would be SOMETHING to eat, nor an offer to order something different. Finally, after about 10 minutes, the serve did circle back around to say "sorry, they are cooking another piece of fish." On the second occasion, after everyone else was done eating and we'd been waiting another 15 minutes & the second fish was still not cooked- the Halibut eater said, "just cancel my order" there was a bit of push back and, again, no apology. No offer of fixing with any other food, not even the suggestion - "would you at least like the pasta, you poor starving waif sitting at a table of people finishing their food while you've been waiting." When the bill was dropped, the server did say the order was removed, but as though it was a favor. We were patient with the fact that we waited too long to have our order taken, to get water or drinks refilled and for our food. That was irritating but forgivable. However, basic restaurant protocol =BAD FOOD IS NOT THE CUSTOMER'S FAULT. And generally, one makes an attempt to fix it. And more detail: Not only are we are 4 adults ordering full priced entrees and dropping at least $100, we are also a very forgiving audience having between us all at least 60 combined years of restaurant ownership, management, and serving/bartending experience. We discussed a variety of explanations for the food (maybe they are using frozen fish and not thawing enough??? The breading makes it hard to tell it's done? WHY aren't they using a thermometer???) and the service (this must be the bartender who doesn't usually serve? It's in between shifts and there's a lag? Someone's got personal issues happening elsewhere?) We all know how much the fish cost. How hard it is to find good staff. The issues w/ kitchens.. etc.. We all have LOTS of sympathy and patience.. late lunch, etc etc... but come on. This is just bad manners. The Halibut eater left feeling like they had been treated very poorly and paid for the privilege. No, they didn't pay for their entree, but we had brought these people here as our out of town guests and had decided to up scale from the crab shack. It rankled. Bad. The rest of the meal without the Halibut would have been probably a 3.5 or, because I inflate my reviews when it's local small business, and the location is charming, maybe even a four. 1) palermo wild alaskan salmon= $15, was fine. 2) Build your own pasta= $16 for spaghetti w/ crab& red sauce. In the words of my father in law "kind of stingy with the crab." 3) Seafood pasta- $18. I asked for a garlic and oil sauce instead of the "alfredo" and the result was quite good. There were 2 bites of halibut, a good portion of scallops & shrimp but alas, as another reviewer mentioned they were bland & a bit under cooked, but I would not have said anything about it until the Halibut incident. read more

I would suggest making a reservation so you don't end up by the door with the cold air blowing in every time someone uses the door. Honestly, being less one table would be better than having it so close to the entrance no matter the weather. The antipasto platter... Keep the pesto, olives and bruschetta, they were so yum! Please ditch the deli meat and cheeses, pretty sure they were the same you'd get at the deli in a Safeway. Charging $12 for sandwich meat and cheese slices is pretty lame. All that being said, the seafood pasta would bring me back! It wasn't an Alfredo as described, more of a white wine butter situation, but it was the highlight of the meal for sure! We heard amazing things about the Calzones and wanted to try them. our seat was next to the kitchen and it was fun to watch how things were prepared.Our dinner was amazing, but while watching, the Chef was arranging some plates, and started coughing... all over the food! the cook had a beard, hair net or anything. Absolutely best pizza we've had in a long time, we live in Southern California so we have an abundance of choices. We were visiting the area and there are very few options to dine, especially for pizza. Fridays are our pizza nights regardless of where we are. This restaurant was hopping but managed to stay on top of the orders. We do our best to support local small businesses wherever we can. Clean, organized, attentive, timely and plentiful. Well my family and I ate here twice this last week while on vacation. The restaurant is located on the bay front street and makes Gps a nice destination to eat and window shop. Our first meal was to try their pizza, which I though was great. We all enjoyed our pizzas and the many options. The staff was friendly and prompt. Nice atmosphere. Our next meal was for dinner. We started with two appetizers. We were sadly dissatisfied with them. One plate was just slices of cheese like they were from a store deli. Each slice of cheese had a piece of pepperoni or salami on it. Looked like a snack my kids would make. The other appetizer was toasted bread with cheese on is. Again, disappointed. We all enjoyed our meals. Good pasta, good fish and my son enjoyed his steak. I'd eat here again but I'd most likely stick with the pizzas. read more

We came int Florence Oregon late in the day and we were not familiar with the restaurants. We originally went to the Waterfront, but the could not seat us. That's cool, I understand, but I asked the hostess what she would recommend, she claimed they were the only restaurant open...sorry. So the kids and I left and walked back to our car. The Restobar was right across the street from the Waterfront with a big "Open" sign. We walked in, staff were super friendly and cleared a table for us. We stared with the seared ahi, absolutely wonderful, perfect in every way. My son ordered the burger and that disappeared quickly. My daughter got the 4 cheese truffle Mac and Cheese, I tried it, really creamy, bread crumbs on top and the truffle taste was a perfect combination. I could not do as well in my kitchen. I went with the meat lovers pizza, I was wonderful, crust was spot on. My only comment is if you are ordering for one person, go with the small, the medium is very generous. We topped the evening off with a berry cheese cake that disappeared before I managed to get a few bites. I really liked this place, it is cozy so in the peak season it might be hard to get a reservation, but trust me, it is worth it! They have a "create your own" dish where you can get gluten-free penne pasta with Marinara sauce that tastes healthy yet scrumptious. Just make sure you ask for no cheese if dairy is an issue. Thank goodness for Ellen, the shop owner at The Chicken Coop on Maple, who directed us to 1285 Restobar. As we made our way to the restaurant we pasted some of the other restaurants that had crowded tables on the sidewalk, where people were smoking cigars and trying to eat in the middle of all the hustle. As the crowds thinned out we saw the hidden gem with a larger sidewalk table area and a free table!! Wow what a great meal. The cocktails were great but the meal was fantastic. The crab ravioli were filled with crab meat in a beautiful creamy sauce and a light layer of melted cheese. It came with a side salad. The shrimp scampi was in a flavorful sauce that disappeared after it was soaked it all up with the delicious rosemary bread. You had a choice of salad or pasta and I chose the pasta that was so light with chopped fresh tomatoes and herbs. read more

I recommend making a reservation if you have a group. Nice open kitchen area as well as a decent bar setting. Food was absolutely delicious. I got the pot of seafood for $26 which is a little pricy but it had large shrimp, scallop, muscles, crab meat and a large amount of bread on the side. The sauce is spicy! Pizza was pretty good and that is allot coming from a resident of the pizza capital of the world, the New Haven Corridor. Extremely disappointed in this restaurant!! We have eaten here in the past and it was great! BUT things changed!! We ordered the seafood pasta and it sucked! Very skimpy on the scallops and fish...and Alfredo sauce tasted like it was out of a jar. The crab crusted salmon was even worse! Very skimpy crab serving and the breading was thick and undercooked. This used to be our favorite restaurant when visiting the Oregon coast but no more. After a long drive, we somehow ended up at this place because my friend found it on Yelp. I'm glad that we ended up because they have great food and great service. We ordered two pasta dishes and a personal meat lover pizza. Based on the Pizza, I would give it a 10/10. I don't know why my friends ordered a "personal" size cause I can honestly devour it myself. It was honestly one of the BEST pizza I had ever had, and I had NY pizza in NYC. Their crust was cooked perfectly with the sauce, meat, and cheese was everything. Their pasta dishes were ok. Their drinks were good. But definitely get the pizza, you won't be disappointed! I'm back in California, and I am still dreaming about their pizza. I wish I took a picture of it, but I forgot! Even though the ratings and food menu for this place look good the actual food served and the service is horrible! The only good thing about the restaurant is the hosts that was very polite and helpful! This one star I am leaving is just for him! After we were seated we waited 30 minutes for server to acknowledge us. And this is only because I asked a host about it! Sever did not apologize for the wait. Now, the food!! Me and my husband ordered Mussels and halibut dish. This is after we found out that they are out of clam chowder, crab cakes, soup of the day, and ravioli. Halibut piece was very small and definitely not fresh. In general, it seems that everything is pre-frozen ... even mash potatoes that come with halibut. Mussels were not clean, every one of them had a "beard". They were served not in the sauce but rather a water that they were boiled in. Together with mussels you find a pieces of meatballs!! Also boiled and pre-frozen. One other thing, the Hawaiian music is lovely but does not go with that place at all... read more

I've had Restobar three separate times with three different items off the menu. I've had the Chicken Parmesan, a large pepperoni pizza, and then a pepperoni olive and mushroom calzone with the scallops as an appetizer. All three times, the food has been absolutely perfect!! Seriously the BEST food I've had in town. With most definitely be back again and again and again until I try everything on the menu and then I'll start all over again. Not only is the food stellar, but the service has been spectacular. The cooks are always so so nice. The servers have been great. But Kurt has been absolutely amazing.
