The service here is top notch. Had the potato soup followed by a large Caesar salad with the grilled chicken. The dressing is extremely tasty and could eat that every day. The soup is equally as delicious and have ordered that each time I've been there. My boyfriend tried the Cubano sandwich, which is worth ordering. The dish came with small fries that were nice and crispy. I highly recommend checking this little place out. The inside is a little tight but well worth the wait! Stopped by here on a road trip after seeing the ratings, and it definitely lived up to those ratings. The turkey bacon cheddar sandwich was great and the chocolate espresso bread pudding was I think the best tasting thing I have ever had. So glad we decided to try this place after a day on the Creeper Trail. It's an intimate setting with nice patio seating if you like the outdoors, and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Though we were just stopping by town for the day, they made us feel like regulars and owner, Jack, greeted us personally. We decided to try the pimento cheese and pita bread for a starter, which was hands down the best I've had. It was baked with another type of cheese in its own casserole dish and the pita bread was perfectly seasoned. You must try it! Next we had garden salads with blue cheese dressing, which was homemade and had nice chunks of blue cheese. I've had plenty of mediocre salads in my day, but this was not one of them. They used high class lettuce/greens (no iceberg or romaine) and it was a perfect mix. For the entrees we tried the jerk chicken which was so tender and juicy, well-seasoned, and had a perfect pineapple salsa, along with cilantro, pico de gallo and black beans/rice. Yum! I wouldn't recommend the chili rubbed steak as much, since there wasn't much seasoning, but it was certainly a generous portion of meat. For dessert, you must try the chocolate mousse cake....moist and RICH, but so worth it. This place is charming and should not be missed if you're visiting Damascus or Abingdon. read more

Stopped in on Thursday for lunch and dessert. Friendly, quick service, pleasant atmosphere, wonderful bbq with red cabbage slaw, and the triple chocolate truffle was huge and wonderful! Delicious tomato bisque soup. Pasta with bay scallops was great. Tasted like homemade pasta! Wish they had used regular scallops as bay scallops were lost in full flavor of great pesto. We had dinner at this restaurant Wednesday evening March 26, 2014. We truly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The waiter, Josh, described the selections and even offered us a taste of the special. The food was delicious and the service was the best. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday and Josh brought out her dessert with a candle in the middle and sing Happy Birthday to her. Finished off with warm blueberry cobbler & ice cream. We really enjoyed our dinner. Great friendly staff, and the owner came by to make sure we were happy. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is always professional in the best possible ways, and the atmosphere absolutely fits the location, which means it's quaint and cozy and fun! Just had a perfect evening and meal at 128! Went there to splurge on a particular dish that I had only had one other time and was disappointed that it was not on the menu tonight. However, my disappointment quickly turned to excitement when our excellent, kind and funny waitress Elba asked Jack if they could make it and he gladly obliged. It was every bit as good as I had remembered if not better! I know that in the difficult, fast paced restaurant world, this would not always be possible but it sure was a special treat this evening. Although we were happily satiated after the meal and delicious goat cheese crostini appetizer, Elba magically (as she can :) talked us into trying the perfected key lime pie, much to our delight! My son and I visited on a recent Tuesday evening during a short stay in the area, as it was recommended by our host. The decor is eclectic and fun, our waitress was great and very accommodating to the plain tastes of my teenager, and service was excellent. The food was very good (plain salmon, rice and broccoli for my son, the grilled rosemary chicken pasta for me). After we finished dessert and the waitress brought the check, I placed my credit card on the tray without looking at the bill, which was face down. When she came back over, she turned over the receipt to show me that the balance was zero! The owner, Jack, had comped us our meal, which she said he like to do randomly, and that he said he like my vibe. He wrote "Happy Tuesday" on it. I left a very nice tip and thanked Jack on my way out. A totally unexpected gesture that made an already very nice experience totally memorable! read more

Amazing atmosphere with great food and drink! We stopped for lunch after the Virginia creeper trail bike ride and had a casual and relaxing meal. The seasonal berry mojitos were off the hook! The staff was very friendly and provided top notch service. We had the special tuna salad-salad, hummus appetizer and California chicken club. All the ingredients were very fresh and high quality. Passing through southern VA, and stopped in Abingdon for the night. Chose Jack's 128 based on the Yelp reviews. 2014 Trip Advisor award was a boost. Was not disappointed - ambiance, service, and food was excellent. Jack, the owner, an energetic gentleman with roots in Abington. Gave me the scoop on family etc. And the good - staring with Bell's Porter, a flavorful brew, followed by a delicious tomato bisque. I chose the Shrimp and Grits, as my server said "to die for". Nothing like comfort food - generous pieces of shrimp, okra, and fresh tomatoes in a signature red sauce that topped REAL grits! Simply delicious. The place was packed but turned over reasonably well, which is a testament to the popularity. All told excellent dining experience - highly recommend. read more

What a great little gem of a restaurant. I travel all over the east coast and always search for smaller restaurants that are interesting and appear to be run by folks that do it simply because they love it. I have found that a little over fifty percent of the establishments I find this way are wonderful places. 128 Pecan is one of those places that will go on my list of establishments to stop at if anywhere close. Wonderful fresh food served with impeccable service and a proprietor that is not afraid to come into the front of the house and say hi. Great ambiance and even better food for a price that is more than fair. This restaurant is on the top of my list and anybody would be doing themselves a disservice if they did not check it out. I was nervous about it so we got half just plain pepperoni and half with the onions and peppers and it was delicious both ways. The pizza was also very good. I don't regret getting the pizza at all, and it had that delicious sourdough on as the crust. We were also given a basket of sourdough bread at the start of the meal. Our table had a a nice view of the water too. The only thing I regret about the meal is not getting more bread or pizza for a snack later that night! read more
