Erica, my hygienist, educated me on my gum health, and noticed signs of wear on my teeth due to clenching; which I imagine I do when I'm sleeping. Erica took photos of each tooth, measured my gums, and validated that my oral hygiene practices at home are on par. During my examination, we saw signs of decay, and there was enough time in the schedule for me to start the process of placing a crown on my tooth. From the moment Dr. James numbed me to the moment my temporary crown was placed, I was treated with the utmost care. The team remembered my son, who visited not too long ago, and were as joyful and relatable as can be. They even offered me a cozy blanket during my procedure! I mean, who does that? Pecan Park Family Dentistry does! All in all, though it was my first time at their practice, I was made to feel like family. Like I was being taken care of by my girlfriends, and I am beyond grateful to have crossed paths with them!

After more than 10 years with this practice, I'm incredibly disappointed to be writing this…read more I'm autistic, and like many neurodivergent people, I struggle with scheduling and making it to appointments. I want to be clear: I am already deeply aware of this, and I feel embarrassed and awful when it happens. Nothing feels worse than standing at the garage door with my keys in hand, frozen, shaking, overwhelmed, and filled with guilt. This isn't carelessness or laziness, it's something I actively work to manage. I also understand that missed appointments affect a business, and I am willing to accept financial penalties when appropriate. I appreciate that Pecan Park Dental has waived some missed appointment fees for me in the past. However, my most recent experience felt shaming and dismissive of my disability, and I left in tears. The morning of a scheduled appointment, I was called and told my insurance would not cover the visit because I had hit my maximum. I was told I would need to pay $540 out of pocket for a routine cleaning. I could not afford that and chose to reschedule for a future date when my insurance would cover it. At that time, I was told I would still be charged a $100 late cancellation fee, even though this cost was only communicated to me the morning of the appointment. When I returned months later for the rescheduled visit, I tried to explain that this situation resulted from an insurance and communication issue. Instead of working with me, I was repeatedly pressured in the waiting room to pay the $100 fee. I explained multiple times that I did not have the money that day. I was asked for credit card information over and over, in front of my daughter and other patients. It was humiliating. I ended up crying in the office while still being asked for payment. When I later tried to explain the situation, I was sent a chart of my missed appointments. It felt less like an attempt to understand and more like an effort to reinforce guilt. That approach isn't helpful, it adds to the shame and makes it even harder to access care. Experiences like this are exactly why many neurodivergent people avoid healthcare altogether. It becomes easier to avoid appointments than to face anxiety, shame, and financial penalties. I don't believe this is about bad intent, but it reflects a system that prioritizes policies and revenue over patient-centered care and basic compassion. After more than a decade as a loyal patient, and bringing multiple family members to this practice, I expected more understanding and professionalism. Because of this experience, I will be moving my care, along with my family's care, to a different provider. I hope this practice reflects on how it communicates with and supports patients, especially those with anxiety, autism, or other neurodivergent needs. No patient should be made to feel this way while seeking care

It is such a great environment for pediatric care and littles with teeth. Our baby has teeth still erupting but he was able to get his check up, cleaning, flossing, and fluoride administered. Dr. Gregerson was so kind and so was our dental assistant and the front desk folks who helped us every step of the way and calmed mom and dad's nerves. While baby did not like it, they walked us through how to get squirmy baby in and out and did the cleaning with such finess and speed both my husband and I were stunned with how quickly that went, we were both in awe at how he was able to floss baby's tiny teeth. Everything is looking great on his development of teeth, and we look forward to setting these healthy habits so our little one looks forward to a great bill of health. The fact that they are so happy to provide positive reinforcement for anxious kids is so appreciative for us as first time parents. Even more fun was seeing they help play movies like Cars for our baby and there were even video games that my husband indulged in. We can't wait to return in 6 months when our baby goes back so we can keep up making sure his teeth and mouth are in top shape.

I also learned that Dr Danny Watts had retired and somebody else took over the practice. We reached out for a second opinion, and learned that our son had no cavities at all. I can't believe this new dentist is committing fraud. would they really have done the work on his teeth that were not needed?

Took my 2 kids here for over 14 years and purchased almost every up sell / add on pitch they threw at us as it was in the best interest of our children's teeth. Last year, our oldest went to a new dentist and they found cavities. We chalked that up to time and his semi ok track record and brushing score from Pediatric Dental. However, our youngest, who has had pretty much perfect brushing scores from this place for past 12 years (I can show the scores and glowing reports with no issues reported) recently went to a new dentist and so many issues were found. He last visited Pediatric Dental in Dec 2019 with yet another perfect report with zero issues! Went to a new dentist 5 months later and the dentist found 3 cavities, one so massive and deep he will need a root canal. Explain to me how that decay can just suddenly appear within 5 months from our last visit to Pediatric Dental. Guess what...shocker - IT CAN"T! Maybe something, but the extent of this decay goes waaaaaaay back and was never found or mentioned in our 2 visits per year After multiple attempts to get with the office manager, we supplied them with the x-rays from new dentist and there was no accountability. The Pediatric Dental dentist called and commented on the xrays that "they aren't that bad" and took no accountability at all and essentially did not care or try to address it. He has certainly been happy to take all the extra money for sub par service over the years and now we must pay more money to to cover their incompetence, not to mention the pain my son now has to go through to correct this. We should have learned our lesson from our first son that something was wrong with all these good scores and reports at the first visit elsewhere I strongly advise and even challenge current customers to go elsewhere for at least a quick check up and see what you find in your kids teeth. I bet you will be surprised. Everyone else, steer clear.
