First time visit FOOD: We ordered the Captain's catch and a fried catfish & chips basket. It was more than enough for the both of us and decently priced. The fried catfish were huge portions. We got the fries in cajun flavoring and as for the Captain's catch, we got garlic butter only and non-spicy. I'm not sure if their butter base has paprika and cayenne as their baseline flavoring because it still had a kick. I didn't mind but my mother cannot handle any spice lol. The color of the sauce was red so I don't think it was just garlic butter. It also was a bit salty so we asked for extra lemon to help cut it down. The shrimp, sausages, potatoes, egg and snow crab legs were cooked perfectly. The catfish was freshly cooked and meaty. No off-putting taste but also had a kick of spice in the batter but still tasted good. SERVICE: We got seated immediately on an early afternoon on Friday but we waited for a good while to get acknowledged. I'm not sure why only ONE server was taking all the orders when there's multiple people working on the floor? He literally had half of the building (7-8 tables). One table had at least 12 people in the group. Jaime was our server and was very apologetic about the wait which was very nice. I do not blame him at all I just don't understand how they do their partitions of tables especially when the setting is for big groups. It took about 15-20 mins to get acknowledged at our table. The positive of it is by the time he got to us we knew what we wanted lol. AMBIANCE: Plenty of seatings/booths available. High ceilings with great space. No smells of the kitchen that will stick with you even after you get out of the building. The waiting area and tables are clean. I don't understand why the bathroom was not renovated while the rest of the building was changed? It is the same old and nasty bathroom when it was hometown buffet. Overall, I think I'll try this place again but maybe during a weekday to see if the wait of service will improve. I thought the quality of seafood was good. The flavor of the seasonings might have been too salty for our liking. Not a lot of garlic flavor for a garlic butter seasoning. It's a good spot to try at least once especially if you have never been to a seafood boil spot but honestly I have tried someone's seafood boil off marketplace for better flavor and taste, not as big of shrimps though and obviously no crab legs. It's the only seafood boil place nearby us so we stopped in for dinner. The signature 101 sauce lacks depth and flavors. Probably the worst seafood boil sauce I have ever had. They need to throw more seasoning into the sauce not just butter and salt. Wanted to try this place since we love going to Boiling Crab! The place is nice and roomy and has lots of nice decor but that's all the pros. We came in on a Friday before the dinner rush. There was a lot of empty tables and there were a lot of workers. We order some shrimp and sausages with the 101 special and mild. The shrimp needed a lot of seasoning. It was pale and did not have any flavor. Usually the bag would have a lot of sauce and seasoning in it so that we can mix our shrimp and sausage inside but not in our case. It was dry. Don't order the sausage either. It was paper thin and it doesn't seem like a pound for how thinly sliced they were. The service wasn't good either. The waitress was kind of rude and didn't check up on us. We had to flag down someone else to refill our soda. There was a bunch of workers just chatting and taking loud in the hostess area. None of them came and checked up on us. Poor service and food needs more improvement. For the price, it was not worth the price. Sure it's our only option for some seafood boil like this in town but for the price, the taste, and the service, I wouldn't come back. First of all if it wasn't for Sam' Samantha wouldn't be giving 5 stars, she took care of us. She did excellent getting our requests... when 2 others just lagged it. Newly opened maybe 2 weeks? We waited 40 minutes , which they did tell us would take to be seated. I think they were kind of slow because there were short on help. Seemed when we were almost done we saw a lot more employees, probably for the late afternoon rush. Our food was pretty good, the catfish was good, the only drawback is they use a tempura like batter, golden and crispy. We prefer a southern cornmeal batter. The fried Shrimp, oysters were very good. Came on a random Thursday evening to try it out. We were promptly sat down and given menus. The service was friendly and fast! Kailey was so sweet! The seafood boil was amazing! I visited Boston a couple of times and had chowder at a number of places and I believe that this recipe could be tweaked to be terrific! The decor is quite clever with nautical touches all around. We were a little hesitant on trying this place out the first month that they were open due to all the mixed reviews. They definitely listen to the comments and have improved. We had the 101 sauce, with our seafood boil, which is a mixture of all the seasonings. It had more than enough seasoning in the mix and plenty on the bottom of the bag. The chicken wings were crispy and seasoned very well. We had a little of a weight before we receded, but that is expected with such a new restaurant. My food and my mom's food came right away but my dad and my husband's food took about 20 minutes to come out after my food did. It would have been nice to have us eat all together. My mom ordered a noodle dish that looked like they just threw a bunch of random stuff together and had a strong garlic taste very overpowering that it could not even be enjoyed. My husband got fish and chips he said it was good except the seasoning on the fish had a spice which was a bit over powering if it did not have that spice it would have been better, just a warning if you order it, there is a lot of spice in their food so definitely don't recommend for people who don't like spice. I got the seafood boil good amount of food although I ordered mild and it still had an overpowering spice and I do like spice but this was still strong. Had shrimp po boy with sweet potatoe fries. They leave the tails on. So before you eat it you need to remove them unless you like that. It did not have alot of flavor but seemed fresh. The fries were cris cross which i have never seen before for sweet potatoe fries. We also ordered fish and cajun chips. The fish and batter were good as was the starter sauce. The fries were ok. They give you a very small serving of sauce and fries. With the sandwich they gave us no way to put the sauce on the sandwich so had to ask for a fork. Food and service go hand and hand. Great food can be brought down by poor service. 101 Crab had good food but the service was horrible. The ladies at the entrance were welcoming and friendly. The ambiance was refreshing and inviting. Our server, who I will not identify here, was ill mannered, impatient, and rude. Lack of training and basic serving and welcoming attitude was not on display. When the beverage we ordered was not to our liking, we tried to explain but he was impatient and spoke over us to advise they had a limited drink menu. He did not allow us to explain the situation but was rushing us so he could continue to other tables. When we asked for additional flat wear, fork, he seemed to not want to help. He noticed our frustration and brought a paper cup of water and just sat it down then walked away. When asked for a straw, he appeared bothered by our request. The paper napkin container ran out of napkins. We went to empty tables, twice to get another napkin container because we did not want to further deal with our server. When we finished and were ready to pay, our server verbally told us the price. I asked to see the receipt. He said, you want to see the receipt. To not be further frustrated, I gave him my credit card so that we could leave. We paid and left feeling very disappointed and disillusioned. We always want to support new and local businesses but lack of detail to training of staff and preparing with dinning supplies are what hurt a new business. Came in for first time January 1st 2026. We tried the shrimp po boy with regular fries. Sandwich was just ok, it was barely warm which leads me to believe these shrimp sit in a warmer not freshly made, lacked flavor it was really bland. Fries were good that's it. At least a good 1/3rd of them still had the tail on them with batter and also bland no flavor and where cool not hot. The supposed cocktail sauce was just ketchup nothing else.
