A truck tried to crunch between my car, I was stopped and about to pull into my garage which was opening, and another parked car to my right on Ellsworth and Parker (In Berkeley) at about 30 mph earlier this month. I drive a 2006 honda civic coupe. My whole right side bumper, tail light, back rear tire+rim, the body from the right side bumper to my passenger side door had big dents and scratches the size of basketballs in 3-4 places. I thought my car was going to be a total loss. I was skeptical that any body shop could restore my car to its original form. The total estimate was borderline $5400 for repairs, all to be paid by the insurance of the jackass who nearly killed me. The dude also ran from the scene and later crashed into 2 other cars on shattuck; I had to follow him. He ended up hitting a light pole. I got out of my car, furious, and strolled over to open his door then proceeded to sock his face a few times. The police came and he was sent off to the hospital for the blood resulting from my battery/assault. Luckily no charges were filed against me. The jackass was having a "diabetic fit" and so he wrecked havoc on the streets of Berkeley. I brought my car into the shop a few days later and It took 2 weeks, during that time they kept me updated on the status and/or any concerns they had upon working on my car. When I went in to see my car, it looked better than when I had bought it. New bumper, tail lights, quarter panel, and all the dents and scratches were fixed. They had also fixed the misalignment of my trunk door. When I bought the car, I noticed that when I close the drunk door, on the right side there was a gap that was much larger than the left side. I was amazed, the color blending was great. I can honestly say my car looks a lot better than when I first bought it. The customer service reps are good dudes. They don't give you any kind of bullshit whatsoever. They truly care about restoring your car and getting you back on your feet. David, one of the dudes, is a cool guy and he helped me get over the damages to my car. He made me believe that my car was going to be well taken care of and I was elated when I saw how great it turned out. Way above what I had expected. 1999 Range Rover. Front end collision. Extremely difficult parts to find and was out of pocket. Jose accepted the job at a very fair price. They had to find odds and ends, bolts and pieces that were ancillary to the repair. New hood, new bumper, new radiator cover, lamps, lights etc. Jose helped navigate us through some complex work and cost comparison. The staff at 101 Auto Body are truly miracle workers. If you're searching for a body shop, look no further. I have a very well-cared for, but older car that was hit, leaving an ugly gash. The other shops I took it to said the cost of the repair would be so high, the car would be declared totaled. This repair shop is a total rip off. I purchased a Amazon coupon for mild repair and repaint of a bumper. The price was $250 with a value of $600. My bumper had scratches on one side that were very minimal. I went to two of the locations. The first guy said the bumper needed to be removed to be painted and sanded; that would cost $200 to $250 in addition to my coupon ($600 value). He then said go back to Amazon and get my money back, bring in $400 to 450 cash. The next guy said that I was covering something up and wrote up a estimate of over $900 to"overhaul etc. my bumper. These guys are total rip offs! read more

Worst body shop experience I've ever had. Dirty fingerprints on the interior. NEW scratch on the hood. Wrong parts. Bent parts. Loose parts. And this took 5 weeks. I've had to take it back four times now and of course the insurance company isn't paying for rental car time any more. I'm ready to go ballistic. Keep your car away from these clowns. I've got two words for this place "rip-off". I bought car with some pre-existing damage, stuff I obviously can't use insurance to fix. Just a few superficial scratches and a very minor ding. I saved up some money to get it looking brand new and took there because of its good reviews on yelp. when I went the person i spoke with told me that a bunch a parts needed to be replaced and it would cost approx $3500. Me knowing this was untrue said no thank you and proceeded to walk out the door when the owner chased after me. he admitted: " i'm sorry my son is new, he assumed this was an insurance claim if your paying out of pocket we can fix it with the existing parts for $800. Half in advance and the other half upon completion." This was what i was expecting to pay so i agreed to let them do the work. 1 week later I get a call saying: "your car is finished, we are already closed but our parking lot is full so if you can pick it up now i will wait a couple of hours." I went at about 6 pm and i was rushed through paying got my keys and was told where to find my vehicle with no time to inspect it but me being trusting didn't think there would be any problem. when i found my car i saw that the scratch on the mirror was not fixed even though it says specifically that they did the work in the invoice. Also they repainted the entire front bumper just to fix a few scratches with a cheep uneven paint job. It almost looked better before i took it in. I called but everyone had already gone home and of course there is no way to prove that damage didn't happened during my drive home its my word against theirs. A very clever dirty trick. I can only assume that all the good reviews were insurance claims. In fact its probably a great place if insurance is paying cause they will rip-off the insurance company and you will get full value for your claim. Trust me don't go here if you are paying out of pocket. read more

At first I thought they were very nice guys they made it very easy to drop off my car, they didn't call me when they said they would to tell me when my car was going to be ready, but when I called and asked them when my car would be ready they did finish when they said they would. Only reason I am giving 2 starts. On the other hand when it came to picking up my car they wanted me to sign a release form without showing me my car which I found unprofessional. The guy who normally handles AAA jobs wasn't there and since I went through AAA he was the only one who knew exactly what was done to my car. So they asked if I wanted to wait for him before signing off and i did. Once he got there he started telling me about damage that was already done to my car that I didnt even know about because the only way to see it is by removing the whole front bumper. Now I am starting to question whether that damage was already there but we will save that for another day and other investigation. When first looking at my car it looked fine the paint looked even from far away but i didn't notice some cracked paint under one of my headlights which they claim was old damage. Keep in mind my car had front end damage from the accident the place where the paint was cracked is one of the main places that got cracked because of the impact. Then my driver side of my bumper was not secure and they didn't bother telling me when i picked up the car. My hood also wasn't aligned with the bumper. So I go back to the shop and the attitude received was about as good as the quality job they did. I am most disappointed because i picked them based off the good reviews and quality the were known for. And then when David was explaining the reason for my insecure bumper he pulled out the side of it and claimed it was already broken then just punched it back in. Leaving it looking worse than it did before. He said AAA probably wont repair the damage and that I was arguing with the wrong person. The whole situation was unprofessional. I am waiting now again to hear back from AAA to see if they are going to FINISH repairIng my car. And trust me it wont be at this shop. read more

My car was vandalized in a shopping parking lot. The left side was keyed. David at 101 Autobody was courteous, prompt in returning calls, and in managing the repairs on my car. When the employees found additional damage to the car which the insurance appraiser had missed, David wrote up a supplemental claim and dealt with both the appraiser and the insurance company representative to get the supplemental claim paid. I did not have to deal with any of those bureaucratic matters. If I am unlucky enough to suffer future damage to my car, I will take it there. read more

I have had work done on my Honda two times here now and I could not be happier. Sado was amazing and so reasonable and friendly. He even offered to pay for a rental car while they worked on my car since it had a lot of damage and they needed it for a while. The first time I took my car there someone hit me and damaged my bumper. They did a great job repairing it in a super timely manner. The next time I took a turn too close in a parking lot and it really messed up the side of my car. My insurance would not cover any of the damage so Sado really worked with me and made it something I could afford to fix. My car looks awesome and I cannot say enough good things about 101 Autobody. This place is amazing. We had just gotten rid of collision on our car worth about 5K. A fender bender led to a search for the best price to patch up our car, paying cash. Every other place gave us prices WAY out of the range to make it worth it (although this is a really good car, low mileage, and definitely worth fixing). Not only did they give us the lowest quote, but when it was still out of our range to make it worth fixing, they really worked with us to get us the best price. Not only that, but they dropped me back off at my house, AND dropped the car off at my home when it was done because I didn't have any other good way other than a cab to get to them. 101 Auto Body shop just handled my insurance covered repair as an authorized repair shop recommended by the insurance company (AAA) for broken rear window and broken wiper blade on my Volvo wagon. Friendly, answered all questions, very helpful, quality work. And very quick, much quicker delivery than we expected. When they washed the car and vacuumed the interior (which is included in broken window repair, of course, but they also vacuumed the entire car and cleaned inside windows and surfaces), they found over $100 in cash I'd let drop next to my center console, and they held the cash for me and let me know they'd found it. read more

1st experience with them was unplesant. I was hit in the front of my truck, minor damage but still needed fixing. They thought they could get away with puting an old part onto the bumper that was replaced either to save money or to save to time and effort to replace it(which the technician should have noted to the owner). when i notified them they told me they would replace it and call me when the part came in but it didnt. Second experience with other car. They mismatched the paint on a different car that i had. As well they left several stratch marks from the sanding which left a poor finish. I later found out that the so called "replaced" bumper was just refinished and glued together (which i found when the bumper began to crack. When i told them about this, they did reglue it and repaint it. But again it didnt match and there still was stratch marks. But now the paint didnt shine as well as the rest of the car even though it was new paint. They werent very nice about repairing it a third time(which should have been their problem since it was a poor repair) and so it resulted in me choosing another body shop. read more

I couldn't recommend them more highly. I have been a satisfied customer for many years having had body work done on 2 vehicles, a toyota and a Mercedes on several occasions over the last 10 years. The service is great and Henry the owner is attentive, knowledgable and courteous. The wall in their Albany facility is plastered with notes of appreciation from satisfied customers. The price is right. Substantially less than other estimates I obtained for each job. The work is impeccable. My last job involved recovery from scam bumper painters who totally messed up both bumpers complete with overspray and drips! 101 not only removed the paint from the scammers but my bumpers look like they just came out of the factory. They are absolutely perfect. The work was done in the time they promised and they threw in removal of the overspray from the bumpers onto the body from the scammers as well as hammered out a small dent and delivered me and picked me up from my home as part of the service. They recently opened a second new larger facility which is just off the freeway in Richmond very close to Berkeley. Five stars for 101. read more

At first I was really impressed with this place. I was greeted by a friendly representative, who was very knowledgeable and walked me through their pant job options and processes. However once I ordered the part I came in for the trouble began. I was not given a printed out quote and had to call them back several times to check the status of my order. I was told that the part would arrive in about four days. After well over a week of not hearing anything, I called back and found out after some difficulty that my part arrived damaged and was reordered adding another four days to the process, which they did not feel was important enough to call and tell me. After giving them another week, I called back and after the usually line of questions and asking around I found out that the part had arrived. Again they didn't think it was important enough to tell me about this. I had my sister take my car in to get the part installed and they ended up charging her more than I was originally quoted. Overall the work was good, but the customer service and the higher than originally quoted price left everything to be desired. read more

I was referred to 101 Auto Body by my insurance company. I told them at the time I made the claim that I needed two specific areas that were damaged to be restored. They only restored the bumper and not the ding. It took four days and now I have to find a place to still take care of the ding. I miss work to get this kind of thing done and was really annoyed by them not completing the work I'd specified to both the insurance company and the body shop. read more
