3-ish. They are pretty good. I do think that they have an excellent café con leche and a tasty stewed chicken empanada. Also ordered a sandwich; it was quite petite. Their guava pastries look so delicious. I should have ordered one, maybe next time. Service was not too bad, just a little awkward. They seemed to have some sort of an issue with the credit card machine, but they fixed it. They have an additional parking lot, and a cute outdoor seating area full of plants and flowers. You can enjoy your coffee while relaxing in a hammock. I would definitely go back for their coffee.

Food was very good! First time trying cafe con leche and it was very yummy! Love little "dive" places like this!

Served it's purpose as we were traveling to Looe Key Fibe Center from Key West and desperately need a cafe con leche. It was very good along with a Cuban breakfast sandwich. Two coffees and two drinks $25

Doesn't look like much when you drive past it. No inside. You order at the window and can dine outside at little tables. I waited a ridiculous amount of time for my sandwich, and then when I received it, the bread was soggy. I will never go back.

Great stop to grab some coffee and lunch. I tried the cubano and vegetarian quesadilla. The food did take some time to prepare but it was fresh and great. I also tried an espresso which was good too.

What a hidden gem! Such a cute little spot, you wouldn't even know was there unless you knew to look for it. I'm telling you now, LOOK FOR IT!! Fresh squeezed orange juice was so fresh and delicious. Chorizo breakfast burrito hit the spot. The outside of the burrito was pan seared and a little crispy, just amazing. We are so glad we stumbled onto this place. Café con lèche was the best I had while in the keys. Perfect amount of sweet. If you get the chance, you must try 100 miles to Cuba.

Chorizo and bacon breakfast burrito.

Pretty good food. Not sure why the iced coffee costed $5, but it was good. Also not sure if the salsa was homemade, it tasted storebought and not fresh. Nothing to write home about. We both got the breakfast burritos, mine with bacon and his with chorizo. I live very close so I'll be back again, but if i could drive into Key West I'd just wait a little for something better. Good food selection though.

Love the fresh pastries!

Great amazing strong coffee, Food was fresh and tasty! Worth the stop! Easy to get to with friendly service

Tamale rice and beans... Amazing.

What a great unexpected stop on the way to Key West! This little family owned Cuban restaurant could not have been any better. The family staff are extremely welcoming and go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need. Now as far as the food goes.. This was the best stop on our entire trip to Florida. Fantastic homemade Cuban food. On our visit we had some Tamales, Rice and Beans, Pollo Tacos, and a Cuban Mix sandwich. Everything was fantastic, and the Tamales were the star of the show! If you are on your way to Key West and are hungry I would hands down recommend stooping here before entering the Pricier town of Key West. I wish this place all the best!

I can't believe folks gave this place 5 stars. We stopped for breakfast, paid $9.99 for Cuban breakfast that consisted of cold bland potatoes, lukewarm rice with black beans and 2 fried eggs-only the eggs were edible. My sister got the same breakfast-she opted for the sausage-was heated and served-It was disgusting. My boyfriend got the Cuban sandwich, he only ate half-so I knew he didn't like his either. The people that work here are really nice-but the food was so awful I now have to go find something else to eat. Save your money and time and go somewhere else.

Full Cuban experience! From the atmosphere, to the fresh plantains and chorizo. Excellent colada!

My husband ordered the ham, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, and it was absolutely amazing. We split it but the first thing we noticed it was huge. The sandwich was served on Cuban bread that they bake fresh themselves, and it was some of the best bread I've ever had; light, flaky, perfectly golden brown, and incredibly fresh. Every ingredient tasted fresh and homemade, including real eggs cooked to order, not the processed "fake" eggs you find in so many places. Be sure to save room for one of their homemade pastries. Like the bread, everything is baked in-house, and you can taste the care that goes into every bite. The coffee was equally impressive; rich, smooth, and full of flavor. It paired perfectly with breakfast and kept me coming back for more. What really sets LJ's Café apart, though, is the atmosphere. This is a true mom-and-pop establishment where family and friends work together. From the moment you walk into the small storefront, you're welcomed like family. The service is warm, genuine, and makes you feel right at home. And here's an added bonus for Florida travelers: the air conditioning is fantastic! After visiting several places in Marathon, we definitely appreciated being able to enjoy our meal in a cool, comfortable environment. I can't rave enough about this wonderful spot. If you're passing through Marathon, make sure your schedule allows for breakfast or lunch because those are the only hours they're open. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

It was so good I actually went twice. Once by myself and once with my family. We all had sandwiches which were very generously portioned. I had the Italian on one occasion and the Turkey on another. Both were fab and more than enough. With a bag of chips a single sandwich is an easy lunch for two. Clientele seemed to be a mix of locals and tourists. The family who runs it was very friendly. Service was fantastic. If you want a more hearty meal they have a daily special that includes two or three meat options, rice, beans, etc. not exactly diet food, but you won't go hungry. Seating was limited but they have tables outside as well. No one was left standing. I loved it and would return again.

Both were really good but I would say the maple bacon one was better just because the Cuban Coffee Cake was thicker, more doughy. I arrived around 7:30 a.m., and the place was already starting to get busy. Food They offer a very interesting assortment of donuts, including flavors you don't typically see elsewhere. Options like Blueberry Cheesecake, Brown Butter Hazelnut, and Cuban Coffee Cake stand out. I chose the Cuban Coffee Cake. It was essentially a spiced coffee cake shaped like a donut, topped with plenty of glaze and crumble. The portion was generous. It could easily feed two people, but I managed to finish the entire thing. For a beverage, I ordered a Mocha Latte. The flavor was very good, but it was served on the cool side. It was completely cold before I finished, and I ended up tossing the last portion. They only serve drinks in paper cups, not ceramic mugs. Although mugs were visible, I was told the health department does not allow them to use them. For me, coffee in a real mug always feels better than paper. Service I have mixed feelings about the service. The person taking my order seemed a bit on edge. When I asked about the mug situation, she appeared annoyed that I would even ask. Since it was my first visit, I asked about the most popular donut, and that also seemed to irritate her. I rephrased and asked for her personal favorite instead, which she answered more willingly. I noticed a few other staff interactions, and the overall tone of the crew felt tense. Not sure if that's typical or if it was just a busy morning. Atmosphere I took a small table inside to finish my coffee and donut. There are several small tables, best suited for two people. Toward the back of the dining area there were boxes and pallets visible. This isn't necessarily a place you visit for ambiance. Most people grabbed a box of donuts and left. Only a handful were dining inside. If you want a good donut with creative flavors, this place delivers. Just don't expect a relaxed coffee shop experience with welcoming, friendly staff.

I was born and raised in Miami to a Cuban/Puerto Rican family so I am very familiar with this cuisine and how things should taste so I was super happy with this entire meal! We ordered the Appetizer Sampler which came with tostones and sides of ropa vieja (shredded beef stew), avocado, pickled onion and pork, so you can build your own. It was delicious! Then for our entrees, my husband got the ropa vieja (SO good) and I got the palomilla. The steak I am used to is thinner and smaller, but I was not complaining! It was soooooooo good and I really really enjoyed it. It was pretty busy but our server did a great job of taking care of us. The restaurant is not that big so it can get a little loud in there. But if you're in a Cuban restaurant, it's never going to be quiet lol! It's part of the experience! Highly recommend for some legit Cuban food and will definitely be coming back next time we are in town!
