    Mmmmmmm.... beef empanadas!!!

Empanadas!! Specifically, the *Argentinian* empanadas from 10 Empanadas is, by far, my new favorite eatery!! I stumbled upon this spot while shopping and strolling through Kailua Town. I confess, I've only ever tried empanadas from Venezuela... but since those were awesome in my book and not readily available unless my Venezuelan tias make it, I was quite happy to find 10 Empanadas was serving up these special treats! The owners and chef were SO friendly and welcoming! The shop is clean with a really easy going vibe with tables and benches, a classy selection of strong brew and obviously house-made Empanadas and pastries. There is no secret as to which team this shop supports (Argentina, duh!) ergo the plethora of soccer items throughout. I love it! As for the Empanadas! Well, I personally don't think you could go wrong with any option on the menu, but the beef was my personal favorite! My sister loved the Nutella one and I regretted eating anywhere else that day! These are so inviting and such a fresh option of you're in the area and not jonesing for sandwiches, Mexican or plate lunch. These are also perfect to grab and go and continue your shopping and exploring of the quaint (but well serviced) kailua side. I can't recommend this spot enough! P.S. They have vegetarian options, too. Their croissants are INCREDIBLE! We generally park near the Longs or by the Whole Foods to just sort of be in the center to catch all the cool shops.

Wow new place open since 2025 but just finding my way here to try their empanadas Spinach #3- good Mushroom Eggplant #4 crowd favorite and will get again for sure. Fugazetta #8 - caramelized onions oregano & 2 cheeses- also a good one Cute little store - friendly staff their most popular are the beef #1 and Chicken # 2 but I went more vegetarian so will need to come back to try their other empanadas! Their #10 ossobuco not only sounds good but looked del

A passionate people! Those Argentinians do know their way around a savory pastry.

Oh my goodness! I keep stumbling into places where the food, and the vibe, and service are exceptional. And then, as I leave, I think to myself, "Oh man, I need to tell my friends and family about this place!" At the time I discovered 10 Empanadas (10 a.m.) , I had almost no interest in eating anything. I had just visited an art studio that sits four doors down, and was heading back to my car to catch the 2nd half of a televised football game. As I strolled by, I noticed an employee unlocking the front door. This perked a casual interest to see what the establishment was about... then, my interest grew to taking a peek at their menu, and then, ultimately my curiosity resulted in my getting to sample some gosh-darn-good empanadas. (Sorry for swearing, but by-golly Bejesus! They were, so Bueno!" ) (This next "tid-bit of info" has very little to do with my experience at 10 Empanadas, but since what I am about to share, could one-day, save a life, I am going to include it here: If you are not a Hawaii resident, you may not be aware that you often have to set an alarm-clock to catch live sporting events. This phenomenon has something to do with the space-time continuum. It's far too complex to describe any further here, but be prepared to occasionally watch football before the sun rises if you find yourself in Hawaii.) So anyways, I think it would be a safe-bet to say that the proprietor of 10 Empanadas loves him his Futbol (no, that is not a misspelling of the sport I was watching)... Based on the team colors of Argentina's national team (white and baby-blue) being flown in a good-percentage of the store's decor, he is a almost certainly a passionate Argentinian Soccer (aka: Futbol) fan. The place also has a very cool mural depicting famous locations around Kailua. It also has modern and sleek bench-style seating...with comfortable seats. And, it has an over-all aura that exudes a, "clean and cared-for" energy. Cool and simple decor aside, the food is the star of this establishment. As I often am prone to do, I asked the person who was stationed at the cash register to share their personal favorites. Suggestions were shared, and finally, it was decided that I should go for a trio of Empanadas that included the Chicken, the Caprese, and the Fatai. All of them were great. They are served piping hot, and in addition to being only 1 or 2 Fahrenheit degrees away from blistering one's mouth, the balance between dough and flavored fillings is what I would describe as, "a splendid perfection." I found myself having to restrain from making faces and noises that probably should be reserved for more intimate moments with my wife...but I was really enjoying the food... but mostly because it was hot... super hot...like, "Hey! Let that cool down for a second, you might burn yourself" hot. If my mom was there, she would have whisked the tray away from the table, cracked me semi-lovingly, but enough to kinda hurt on the top of the head with the back of her hand, and then shake her head in disappointment at my lack of restraint. But, she was not physically present, and to cool the food, I had to resort to using the, "open your mouth in a slack jaw fashion and huff puffs of air over the molten food from your throat, before swallowing" technique. We own a home that is located approximately a 1/2 mile from here. It is rented out to people who stay on Oahu for extended stays for part of the year. We also save it for ourselves during part of the year, allowing family and friends to use it as a base camp when they come to Oahu. Guess which restaurant is now going into the note-book we leave for our guests under the heading: "Good Food Places to Try in Kailua"? Yep... Two final "full-disclosures" about this place... First, it's called, "10 Empanadas" but they really have more like 16 to choose from. Secondly, be warned that the Argentinian player, Meradona, is prominently featured on the walls. So, If you happen to be from England... and you peek in while passing by... and then you find yourself repulsed and dissuaded from entering (because Mr. "Hand of God" is up on the wall) you would be making a big mistake. I'm telling you, Hand to God (*imagine me raising my hand up to show you may palm), based on the evidence of how good those puffy golden-brown half-moon-shaped gastronomical delights were, this chef obviously has the same passion for his empanadas that he does for his Argentine Futbol. So, if you refuse to dine here because of that Merodona poster, you will be cheated again! And "Come-on!" Seriously, it happened in 1986, it's time to let it go.

This was a last minute decision as I had some time between my hospice patients, and these help more than filling my tummy. I felt so welcomed by Baylee at the front! She really helped me choose the 3 empanadas to try! She has great taste! Each one was so full of flavor. I love how they put the number on the empanada and receipt so you know what one you are about to bite into or if you are sharing it makes it easy! I will be going back to try more! The chimichurri sauce was a perfect little accent flavor go along with all 3. I think the best part is the more you buy the cheaper they are! Makes me feel like I can buy a couple more and bring them home for later.

I really like Argentinan empanadas and didn't expect find the similar taste in Hawaii. I am so happy to find 10 Empanadas in Kailua My favorite is Ossobuco empanadas but Eggplant & Mushrooms, Spinach, Corn was also so good

This is the #Osso Bucco #10 with the dip. Notice the number on the empanada itself

When it comes to certain types of food, eating it right then and there is best. The empanadas were given to us at the table. Piping hot, yet delicious. I have nothing to compare this to since I've never eaten Argentinian cuisine before. Not sure if it was freshly made but, the ones we ordered were very good. If we're ever in the Kailua area near the Crystal shop we're going back to try their other offerings. A few picnic tables in the restaurant and very clean. They have rolls of paper towels for each table and I understand why. At this time I'm posting this, I haven't been stopped by this part of town for about two months, so not sure when it opened. Stop by and check it out!

They had me at Empanadas... Though I was craving for a sandwich since I was in Kailua I remembered this new empanadas place formerly occupied by Bee & Tea and I really wanted to visit the many other shops in the area as well it was the perfect place to grab a much needed bite to settle my cravings. Walking into the spacious location they seem to have kept the layout including the gorgeous mural of Kailua that I love and was looking forward to a savory bit of the various empanadas they have to offer. With over a dozen to choose from I had it down to a few choices and decided on #13 Eggplant Parmesan which has all the classic ingredients all wrapped up in the cutest pocket sandwich :) to which the staff asked if I wanted any sauce to accompany it with and suggested their chimichurri sauce for $0.50. As I waited patiently for my empanada which took a few minutes it arrived on an adorable try lined and very simple and minimalistic simple which was nice. They flavor wasn't quite there for me as I couldn't relate it to a Eggplant Parmesan and no there was zero steam, cheese pull or any struggle from being hot as the outside was nice an toasty it wasn't the same on the inside sadly. The chimichurri sauce was amazing and delicious and actually gave life to the lacking flavor of the filling other empanada place does give me the sauce and was sad that this location charges extra for it. I like my filling to be hot especially when there's cheese in it and sadly it disappoint me a bit but the sauce I'd totally recommend to get as it was a yummy burst of flavor. Lovely spot to relax and grab a bite or a simple snack though the restroom are a bit inconvenient as it's a shared spot located in the back but is a great option to have along with some free parking spots shared by other tenants. Thank you!

10 Empanadas found a brick-n-mortar locale on Hekili Street where Bee Tea used to be...RIP. Named after Leo Messi's iconic #10 Argentina shirt number...this is an Argentinean take on the flaky empanada. Vegetarian option are available and quite good. I've had the 8, Fugazetta; 11, Caprese; 14 ( new item ), Mediterranean. The "8" has carmelized onions and mozzarella, parmesean, and cheddar - a cheese lover's delight. What is the "10" - an Osso Bucco empanada. They also have dessert empanadas to include an apple and a nutella version. Street parking on Hekili but I just park in the Kailua Shopping Center lot or the Kailua Town Center lot or the public parking garage across from Longs. On my initial visit, I had an excellent yerba mate.

Easy to order empanada spot that is stuffed with fillings. Since this spot only does empanadas, I expected it to be a little crispier, well-stuffed. The flavor of the beef was great, came out fresh and hot and ready to eat!

This place is very tasty!!! And decent turn around! Argentinian empanadas! And #10 for some of the most famous Argentines like Messi and Maradona!!! See amazing jerseys hanging on their wall! Service was friendly ! Staff was happy to help!! We got four !! The two meat ones we love love loved! One of the vegetarian ones was very good, the other - was still good, just less so. It was the corn and cheese one, but I would go back to try all of the other options for sure! The herbal dipping sauces are highly recommended as well!

We stumbled across this place in Kailua and ordered 2 empanadas. We ordered 1 Fugazetta which came with caramelized onions and mozarella cheese and their beef empanada. My fave was their Fugazetta one because it was cheesy. The empanada shell was sturdy and outside crust seemed almost like a pie crust. Both empanadas we had were delish!

Lunch in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii... After reading Donna O.'s review, I decided to try 10 Empanadas... to compare my experience with hers... because she had a five-star adventure! At first, the interior was calm and quiet... Then... Gabi (the cashier) turned the lights on... Then... they started playing songs by Al Green... Then... more customers entered the restaurant! I'm glad that I beat the crowd! This was such an excellent atmosphere with beautiful wall mural with Kailua sites: Instagram opportunity with their logo; casual picnic tables and benches; and a pretty tropical welcome bouquet in the corner. Yes, this is a New Small Business! I almost got the buy 10 empanadas, get one free deal, but thought - hey - I can't eat THAT much! So, I got the Mushroom Eggplant, Osso Bucco, and Apple empanadas. Wow... It was like Donna said: the crust is light, not oily, and almost like a cracker. The Mushroom Eggplant was like a pizza flavor - maybe because of the cheese filling. I liked it! The Osso Bucco was delicious by itself, but the sauce that came with it was so good that I wanted to drink it like soup! The sauce really elevated it! Gabi recommended the Apple Empanada, which was yummy, too... that caramelized taste... mmm! ...and the cubed apple filling was nice and firm, not mushy! I didn't want to waste the Osso Bucco sauce, so I got a second round of empanadas: 1. Spinach - I thought it would work well with the burgundy sauce; and 2. Beef - Gabi recommended the chimichuri sauce to go with it. He was right again! It has a slightly tart flavor. Yum! This was a great foodie experience! I want to return and try the other empanadas... especially after meeting Juan, the owner. He really cares about the quality of the ingredients! Try these empanadas... They're different in a very good way! Note: street parking is free. If there's none, park behind the building or behind the building next door.

Do you have gluten free empanadas?

They do not offer gluten-free items or vegan items. Their empanada dough is dairy-free, however, since they use margarine and water in the dough instead of butter (although some margarines may contain trace amounts of dairy).

It,s just right for my roommate and myself, but can be shared with more people if you have other side dishes. The price is reasonable and then ordering, your served right away. I thought would have to wait a long time to get my order, but no very fast and friendly service. Ask for sliced lemons, and a saucer of house vinger and whole red chili peppers. Goes great with the pig feet, brings out the flavor. Max,s has lots to choose from on their menu, you need to go and check it out you won,t be disappointed.

I wanted to eat Philipino Food. Looked up a number. of restaurant on Yelp. I decided to try…read moreIlocos Best. I believe this is in the former location of North Star Sausage. The inside is set up the same as North Star. Food counter on the left and a number of Philipino staples on the right. We ordered Squid Adobo, Pinakbet and Dinuguan. Overall the food was ok. The adobo had a very mild adobo taste. I'm still looking for a restaurant that Uses the inards and not just pieces of pork in their dinaguan. Enjoy
