Fernando was exceptional. Our neighborhood gate failed and this held him up. He was patient and professional. Stay away from 800/Pack-Rat.......serious INVOICING OVERCHARGE and no communication resolution. SUPER disappointed!!!!

I don't think I've ever rated a company on Yelp before for context. Also, I have no issues with the drivers and how the containers arrived. However, I made a move across country and didn't have an address for a new home yet beings we hadn't bought one. When I called them to let them know the zip code may be changing to the next town over (5-10) miles away, I was told the price would stay the same. When I went to schedule it a week later, they said they would adjust the price for the zip code change and it went from $8200 to $14975. ... for a ten mile change at most. I don't know how a company can try and charge that much more with a straight face. I had to go back and forth with them on the phone and talk to different people for about four hours. I think it's morally wrong and terrible business practice to try and prey on customers like that. Again, it isn't a jab towards Jacksonville or the drivers but I will never recommend packrat to anyone after what they attempted to charge me for a minor change. read more

The staff at the Jacksonville office is fine, however the 800 line process is a joke. 7 or 8 prompts before you speak to anyone and then the say 10 wait time. You cannot access your container without 48 hrs notice or they charge you $50! You are not able to schedule access on the website...you have to do it over the phone which in this day and age is ridiculous. The rate seems to go up ever quarter....$$$$$ I would steer clear of this company if I had to do it over again!!!! read more

The only good thing was the lady I spoke to when I set up services. After that, getting anyone on the phone was the worst experience of my entire life. Never received a call back after leaving the call back number. Due to a change in life status, I finally had to call to cancel. The absolute worst experience of my life. I can hear the hold music in my nightmares. Continually transferring me from person to person. I will never use them in the future and I hope you don't either. read more

Scheduled pack rat to arrive on Friday, company rescheduled for Saturday, and now rescheduling for Monday. Have to have keys returned for apartment by Monday, so that is going to cause a delay in moving out, with fees, and now 2 days of missed work, waiting around for drop off. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. I'm going to repeat this phrase multiple times because I want to emphasize that using this company to move your things is a bad idea. We are a small family, recently moved from one coast to the other. We contacted Packrat to move our household goods. The first issue is the sales staff - They are very good at their jobs. Personable, efficient, devious as all get out. DO NOT USE 1800PACKRAT. The agent I spoke to told me that both units we were renting would fit in our driveway because she could see it on Google maps. Lie. We ended up having to rent a U-Haul, pack that, and unpack that into the unit at the local storage facility when the driver couldn't drop the unit at our home. We fought a $600 fuel subsidy the company tried to tack on after our units were filled because it was never discussed. It was refunded. DO NOT USE 1800PACKRAT. We were told of course our stuff will be shipped and arrive before we did - we were driving cross country. This was a lie. Our units left a week late (no notification) and then we couldn't get them delivered at our destination for another 3 days. As a customer, you're told that you have to give 7-10 business day head start to schedule the delivery. We called the week before, while we were states away. We were told to expect our units the Tuesday after we arrived. Great. Tuesday morning comes and goes, no container, no contact. We call customer service, who LIE and tell us the unit could be dropped any time up to 11 at night but it IS coming. DO NOT USE 1800PACKRAT. Unfortunately for them, I believe in trust, but verify. On chat with customer service, I find out our units haven't arrived yet because they left a week late. They are currently trying to hit us with another months' rental for the units after I confirmed the rental dates were in September. Good thing I took screenshots of the chat with their agent. Although, they don't answer emails with evidence as quickly as they send charges through your card AFTER you ask to have it removed. DO NOT USE 1800PACKRAT. DO NOT USE 1800PACKRAT. The only reason I gave a 2 is that the first two pods went well. The drivers have some to great experience and most are friendly. I've rented three packrats. The first two were fine except for a minor glitch where the deliverer tilted the full pod at about a 25% angle causing sliding, scratching of furniture, and a few broken items. Pod 3....... I changed the delivery date for the pod online but could not change the deliver-at-end-location date as that's the way packrat is programmed. So, I called 6 days after the pod was picked up to adjust the delivery date. I was told that the total contract had been charged to my card - and then backed out - the day of pick up (based on the first two this is not how it's supposed to work). She said APPARENTLY the pod was now in storage. There was a clear delivery date and address so why would they put it in storage? They didn't think to contact me? What would have happened if I had not called? I was then told they would charge my card and that the delivery date would move out an additional week. There was an additional $230.60 on the charge (I'm guessing that hidden fuel surcharge). I have called two days in a row and spoken with very nice ladies who said I needed to talk to a manager. The second one left a message marked "urgent" for her manager as the first one never called me back. I'm day on day 3 and still waiting.... Was my pod in storage? Did they find it? Is it in transit? Are they going to offer me financial compensation since obviously the delivery date is not going to be satisfactory? And, by the way packrat, I have a need for another pod, and I know three people that need to rent one and you will definitely NOT be getting the business. Just a note: their website needs a LOT of work and their billing system is quite inconsistent. Watch out for the "hidden" gas surcharge!! read more

Worst experience ever. Paid 400.00 for a cube that was smaller than I could use. The measurements they give you are the outside dimensions. I asked for an afternoon pickup and they gave me 5 minutes notice they were coming at 9AM. They wouldn't re-schedule for the same day. I recommend PODS. read more

If only I could give less stars, I'd give negative. This company is a scam. We were quoted less than $200 for a unit and ultimately paid over $400 and had it for less than a month. I spoke to Emily in their billing department and it was like talking to a wall. She was incompetent, unhelpful, and had less personality than any customer service person I've ever spoken to. would never recommend this company. was charged $9.99 for property protection that I did not sign up for. was advised by delivery guys that I could call and get this removed. the company wouldn't do it but I had to signed new forms to keep it from being charged the next month big pain). then i called a week in advance to get container picked up and. was told it could not be done for 18 days! i have this huge container blocking my garage now and can't get it panicked up. called twice to try and get this changed and asked to speak to supervisor and was rerouted to switch board. other than my delivery guys, had very poor service and satisfaction with company. read more

We moved to Florida from Lomg Island last year and used a shipping container from 1-800-pack-rat. Since we had to stage our home for a sale, we had them deliver the container about 2 months before our move to store excess belongings. After the sale they returned the container and we loaded the rest of out belongings. A 12' container was just right for our 2 bedroom condo. The container was shipped to Jacksonville on time where we stored it until the remodeling was completed. There was no problem with the delivery and they were on time and on budget. The blankets they supplied came in really handy. We saved big $$$ on our move and I would recommend 1-800-pack-rat to anyone planning a similar move. Thanks for the great service. read more
