Service was great. Removal of my few pieces of furniture only took a few trips. The only drawback was the cost. Breaking it down it cost was about $100 per item. I'm not sure my furniture would have taken up between a quarter to half the truck if stacked. That said figuring out how to move the furniture myself would be onerous and I just wanted it gone. read more

I scheduled a furniture pickup over the phone--not online--and was explicitly told by a representative that my items would be donated and that I would receive a donation receipt. The on-site team reiterated the same information. That assurance was the deciding factor in choosing this service. To be clear: I would not have selected this company had I known this would be the outcome. After paying nearly $400 for this service, no donation receipt was provided. In this economy, that's not a minor issue--it was a key part of the value I was told to expect. When I contacted customer service, I was redirected from the national line to a local office, where I was told I "should not have been told that" and was advised to use my paid service receipt as a tax write-off instead. That is not an acceptable substitute for a legitimate donation receipt. I also reviewed your website and found no clear public-facing policy stating that donation receipts are not provided--yet your team explicitly told me I would receive one. That level of inconsistency is unacceptable. If this is truly company policy, it needs to be clearly communicated upfront--not contradicted multiple times during the sales and service process. Customers should not be misled into expecting documentation that will not be provided. It's a scam and we got ripped off. I wish this company close its business tomorrow. PLEASE DONT USE THEM! 1. Bait and Switch: The team refused to give any quote until they show up and loaded all my trash. 2. Unreasonable & un-transparent price: - I got 1/6 trunk load priced $370 dollar which is unreasonable. (even doubt if my trash below took 1/6 trunk, this is after negotiation, initially they priced $500) - Why pricing is so untranparent. I read yelp reviews while someone said a full trunk cost $800 and some said 1&1/4 trunk cost $675. Please tell me how come 1/6 truck will cost $370. What kind of math got to this number? 3. Why is that a %10 tip is mandatory and added to it without mentioning and customer acknowledgement? Worst experience. Would not recon end this service. It starts with the person that answers the phone. First you had to fill out the online information. I filled it out for my client and put her info in the boxes. I called to see if they could also give me a quote over the phone. I was told she could not speak to me because my name wasn't on the online form that i just filled out for my client who has a medical condition. She said this was for security reasons. I said you're just picking up a chair that's outside, what security reasons. She said there was a box that you could have put your name in. It was the description box that i put a description of what we wanted picked up. I asked her how was i suppose to know that i was suppose to put my name there nothing says that. Needless to say she wouldn't speak to me and my client who was sitting right next to me said forget it we will try another service and we called Nova Junk and spoke to Cheryl that gave us our quote. They are always in a hurry trying to make a quick buck with the least amount of effort, without actually providing quality service. Rude and deceitful staff, price quoted did not match the price paid, property was damaged while being transferred to the truck. The driver did not listen, understand, or follow instructions. The overall experience was so bad. I won't be using 1-800-GOT-JUNK again. They are simply the bottom of the barrel. Very nice looking website, and high quality phone system, but it's all used against you. They make it impossible to cancel, on purpose. I gave all my information to the automated support agent, only to have to wait exactly 15 minutes for someone to answer the phone, ask my phone number, and then hang up on me without saying anything. i was looking forward to using this service. i waited around all day on a Sunday june 1st to get a quote to have items removed from my home. Logan finally made it to my home later than expected. i asked for a quote to be sent to me. i never received it. i waited a few days and called their cust serv to ask again for the quote. on june 3rd i spoke with Mahruk and she took down my info to have it sent to me. today is june 16 and i have never received the quote. apparently this organization is just too busy to email a quote to a perspective customer. read more

I've used 1-800-Got Junk several times over the years, for my home and my elderly father's home, and have recommended them to others, but after this last time I'll try another company. During this recent removal, I kept thinking it was taking unisually long for the amount of stuff I was getting rid of. I wasn't in a hurry, though, and it was the end of their day doing what's obviously a very hard job. But I've usually scheduled for later in the day in the past too and for more stuff. Then I remembered one of the guys said that TIME is now part of the Got Junk PRICING, as opposed to just volume. One guy even said, as an example, walking the stuff around from the back (townhouse patio) to their truck out front. I'm second from the end of the row. The bulk of the stuff was two foldable tables (24x48 when extended), old rabbit cage material and pen fencing, recycling (broken down/flattened boxes), and some planters from previous owner, but one did have dirt in it. I'd put the stuff from inside on the back patio of the townhouse already. A foam mattress and metal frame (Ghostbed) were inside the walk-out basement. One guy took an amazingly long amount of time to unscrew the legs from the frame before moving it- I'd be doing something else then think - is he still in there? (And then he left the legs behind, so I took them to the truck.) It was $573 total, plus tip was over $630. The guys were personable and easy to deal with, as always, which I appreciate. But the company's incentives run a different way now so that's bound to drive behavior. If you want to remove some junk in a hurry - 1-800-GOT-JUNK may be just who you need! in preparation for my impending move to a new home, I've begun packing - and I had a good bit of older furniture that I did not want to take with me. I could not get the Salvation Army or Purple Heart out in time to pick the stuff up - so I opted for 1-800-GOT-JUNK. Obviously the service is not free, but they come to your home - even on Saturdays and Sundays, and remove whatever it is you want to get rid of. I had them come out on a Sunday afternoon to remove 3 bookshelves, 2 chairs, a 3 piece bedroom set (dresser, chest, and nightstand), a printer stand, computer desk, and 2 file cabinets, plus a bunch of misc. stuff: CD stands, magazines, journals, and other stuff. My total bill was $400 and change. But I did not have to lift a finger, which is especially good since I have tendinosis in my left elbow. They work to make sure that stuff that is still in good shape gets donated to various organizations and reused or recycled. read more

I was very happy with the experience up until they actually showed up. Text communication was great and allowed me to have a document of the conversation. They showed up on time and were extremely nice guys. My issue was that when they showed up, the price was more than double what I was quoted from the pictures we sent. $280 was the quote and the two men that showed up said it was a $600 minimum load, likely in the mid 700's. The gentlemen that came to my residence, Jeff and Jimmy were AMAZING, they worked so hard and were so efficient. They wore masks the entire time while hauling away my trash at warp speed. I will say that these people had good communication and showed up on time to give me an estimate. I was told on the phone when I booked an appointment for an estimate that they had a minimum charge of $199.00. This was after I explained that I had a king bed frame and two air mattresses that split into tow parts and some thin metal tubing that was about the same volume as a twin bed. Basically it would all fit in a full-sized pickup. The woman said that indeed that sounds like a minimum charge situation. They showed up with a practically full truck that would take them 20 or 30 minuets to rearrange to fit my stuff. Upon looking at my stuff they explained that they charge by volume and it would cost $419.00. This was completely unacceptable and in my mind a rip off. Please don't even bother using these people it's a waste of time. I am sure i can find someone to haul my stuff for half what they charge and even that's too much but I will pay a fair price but don't take advantage of me. Bait and switch! The prices are crazy high. I felt like I got ripped off. I think they count on you using them, because they're present. They refuse to quote anything over the phone. They have these elaborate sheets of rates based on your actual materials. For instance, a fridge alone is $198 to dispose of because the motor is heavy. Its a minimum of $198 to use them. A full truck is something like $800. The video on their website that explains pricing is misleading. The video leads you to believe that they stack everything neatly and that pricing is very obvious to the naked eye. Well, there's no lift gate on the truck. And everything is just thrown on. The driver decides how much volume you used. There's no way to verify and confirm the volume. The employees are professional. Clean cut. Polite. And get the job done... Just the pricing is super crazy. I wish I had shopped around a bit first. But this company does a lot of advertising and has a catchy name and number. It was moving day and all of our furniture was being loaded onto the moving trucks and we had 5 large pieces of furniture that we were not taking with us and we're not able to donate due to some tares and breakage. I called Got Junk and was expecting it would probably be 2-3 days before they could come out to remove the furniture and old empty boxes with miscellaneous trash. I was surprised, relieved and very happy that they arrived within an hour of my call and what I thought was going to be an estimate and schedule a removal date, turned into them removing the items immediately. The team that showed up were quick, efficient, and professional. What was giving us some stress turned quickly into relief. We were moving across country the next day and having this handled before we left really helped to ease the natural moving tensions when making a big move. Their service was excellent. They came when they said they would and picked up a 42 inch tv for me that was already placed on the porch. I do have an issue with the pricing. I was quoted a price of $179 and a $10 credit for a promo code I found online. When they arrived they told me that since my tv was over 32 inches there would be a surcharge. I refuse to use them again. First, the two men that showed up were late. Today was moving day so timing was everything. Then they refused to acknowledge me and only spoke to my husband. When I asked them about something they said they needed to speak to my husband. I told them that I was the one that booked them. They had a smart Alex response. Then they asked if I would be able to pay! Ha ha! I am appalled at their rudeness and the attitude towards me. Clearly they have issues taking orders from a woman. Finally. When I asked them about the things in the corner (shovels, step ladder, broom) they said it would cost more. More? If they had done the job properly then they wouldn't have missed those items. They got the job done. The two guys were courteous and efficient. Honestly, I felt gouged. I really don't know what is a reasonable amount to pay for them to come and take my stuff away, but it felt like too much. I am hiring movers for $75/hr and these guys charged me $200 for less than 15 minutes of work. Maybe I am being cheap, maybe I am feeling sour grapes still from salvation army, but it really galled me to pay someone to take my stuff. All that said, they delivered on the service they offer. I was very pleased with the service provided by Spencer and his team. They called me to check the time. I'd scheduled an evening appointment, but they called to see if I wanted them to come earlier, and we were able to get everything moved by 5 p.m. They hauled away two heavy exercise machines and a large amount of old patio furniture. They quoted me a price that ended up being slightly lower -- about $400 -- which was worth it to me to see all of that junk going out the door. Two affable and very strong young men were able to lift a 300 to 400lb woodstove into their truck, which is basically a stake bed with about a 7x15ft bed about 4ft off the ground. They were friendly, efficient and smart enough to figure out how to get backed up to my carport to pick up the thing, no mean feat considering the number of drivers I've had to direct through the maneuver. Great company, easy to use. The truck showed up early, but they called beforehand to make sure it was okay. You book your window online then they come to your address and estimate how much junk you have. Since they charge by volume (how much you fill up their truck), it' s nice that they give you an estimate before they start loading. If you don't like their number, they will leave with no charge to you. One of the perks of this company is they do the dirty work. Most dumpster rental/junk removal companies will come to your curb but you have to get everything out there. We are renovating our house and had piles of stuff all over. The guys that came to our house were efficient and never complained about what they had to carry out -- an entire kitchen and moldy carpets. read more

I needed a couch and recliner removed to make space for new furniture. The two gentlemen arrived within the time quoted, and were very friendly and polite, even when my neurotic little dog wouldn't leave them alone. I live in Old Town Alexandria, and the flight of stairs up to my apartment is narrow, so moving furniture can be challenging. I am very satisfied with the service and the price quoted. One note: although the team does accept tips, it has to be in cash. I used a credit card to pay for the service and had hoped to add a tip on as I would in a restaurant, but they couldn't do that, and I didn't have any cash. So if you'd like to tip your drivers, plan to have some cash on hand. I would use this business again, and would recommend it to others. read more

Called this company 2 weeks ago. They called when they found they would be late (good business). But on the phone during the set up time, I had been quoted $128-$360 and when the men arrived with only a mid sized dump truck, they quoted us "a truck and a quarter will be needed and it will be a minimum of $675." NOT good business. The works, who were polite and business/friendly, called their boss and explained. He would not change the onsite estimate, so we said, "No thanks." I am pretty extremely upset at this point. I had an appointment scheduled for yesterday 5/28) initially between the hours of 3 and 5pm. I waited that entire window during which I was called and told they would arrive closer to between 4:30 and 5:30pm. So there's a slight delay? Fine, it happens. I thank the man for the update and wait for the quoted time slot to roll around. Well that time slot comes and goes... and then some. 6:20PM comes around, and finally I get another call. "It'll be at least another 40+ minutes" I'm told as they have to go pick up another truck. I was offered an alternative of simply rescheduling for today (5/29) to which I chose to take on account of having spent a sizable chunk of my day at an old property waiting for the removal folks to arrive. I was told to simply "pick a time between 8am and 7pm" and they could be here. I settled on 3pm as reasonably ideal. "Great!," I think. "That's that." But it wasn't. Around 3:00PM today, there was no sign of anyone coming but I get a call stating that "they can arrive towards the end of my slot around 4:30pm to 5:30pm". This is just extremely aggravating. It is now 5:30PM, I have wasted nearly 7 total hours of my own time to be here during the windows and I haven't even gotten an update since 3pm. The gentleman who called me today (whose name I didn't get) didn't pick up when I called a few minutes ago to try to get an update. I feel insulted. I haven't been anything but courteous and I am being yanked around. This junk was meant to be removed from a townhome we have moved out of and on a reasonably tight schedule but I have no idea when or even IF the people will show up at this point. I can't say much about price like other negative reviews as they haven't even shown up to give an estimate and I am already a full 24 hours past our original scheduled time. I had some challenges on my end with our building's loading area but they offer very flexible hours which was very helpful. I also had some problems finding a company that could provide a certificate of insurance that met my building's requirements. Spoke to a couple of different companies which flat out told me that it was not worth it them to have the level of insurance that was needed. 1-800-Got-Junk has it and provided the certificate of insurance which met the requirements.
