The people at 1+1 are very responsive and work to give you the caregiver that best suits your needs. My needs are periodic vs constant so that makes it more difficult for them to match us with a qualified caregiver. My wife has advanced dementia with Parkinson's, so it is a difficult job. They provide me with a list of qualified caregivers, and often it is one I rated highly from past assignments. And their rates are reasonable, which helps because it is mostly out of pocket. read more

My mother recently stayed two weeks in the hospital at 93 years old. Lying in bed for two weeks would debilitate anyone of any age. My mother decided to convalesce at home and requested care giving services. Fortunately the hospital recommended 1+1 Care. When I contacted them they immediately set up an in- home appointment with a care counselor. This step is the most important part of hiring a care giver as the counselor can profile the patient and match up the needs of my mother with the care giver's skill sets. Within 48 hours we had a care giver come to the aid of my mother. She is compassionate, caring, conscientious and most importantly a great cook! Everyone here is completely on my side. They are compassionate, professional, eager to assist, respectful of how they communicate, even when I get a little stressed. All staff is understanding and go above and beyond. I had another company I was using, called "Senior Desires" and they were the worse and left me and both of my parents high and dry without warning, they just walked out and stole from us. So when I transferred to 1+1 Cares, I was skeptical and their staff doesn't say no, offers advice, takes advice AND reminds me to take care of me. With 1 day notice we found out we needed in home care for our 98 year old mother. We called 1+1 Care from my Mom's hospital bed. Within one hour there was a representative named Debi Salcido at the hospital to setup their services. She was very pleasant and helped us understand from her personal experience what to expect. By 3PM the next day a caregiver was at my Mom's bedside as she arrived home from the hospital. These caregivers are very experienced and caring. I needed 24 hour care, in the Los Angeles area, for a family member after an accident. I had started a conversation a year before with 1+1 and they sounded like a good match. So, I went back to them after the accident. I wanted 3, 8 hour care givers as their "24 hour" care givers get 8 hours off each day (understandable, who works 24 hours a day?). But we wanted someone attentive all the time, hence the 3 care givers. Right away, 1+1 one failed. They could only get two shifts for each of the first 2 days. One care giver was energetic and got to work right away. She also ate all the food I got for my family member and kept forgetting instructions. The second caregiver was a student nurse and wanted to study the whole time, only occasionally interrupting her studies by checking on the family member. Glad we could pay her way to study. The third day, 1+1 could only find one care giver and she was actually very good. The fourth day was a Saturday and 1+1 could only find 1 caregiver for 6 hours. But I got a text that the care giver cancelled, 3 hours before that care giver was supposed to start and a couple of calls from 1+1 that they were looking for others to replace her. That was it for me. How many available care givers do they have in their network? Not many from my experience. We had also asked for care givers that could drive so that the family member could make doctor appointments and other regular lifestyle trips. I was told that the first care giver couldn't drive because she didn't have a valid license, but she drove to the house both times she worked. The other care givers also couldn't drive the patients due to insurance issues or whatever. If you go with 1+1, don't be surprised if you end up disappointed. read more

A relative needed services after being released from a care facility in the LA area. The relative required 24 hour care the first day back and the care facility and our family called 1+1 for services. Both were initially responsive and stated our request would be fulfilled. On the day of release from the care facility, 1+1 informed us that the first caregiver cannot do any driving and can only work for 12 hours (caregiver profile states that driving is available). Okay, not ideal but we'll work with what you have. Once on site, my relative asked if the caregiver could do the dishes as specifically stated in the caregiver's profile (light housework) that was emailed to us. The caregiver refused and preferred playing on their phone while my relative complained to us. 1+1 did call the caregiver however, we didn't want my relative to be in a hostile environment after the complaint so we decided to remove the caregiver. The day after, we called 1+1 to get an update. I asked if the caretaker will still be used after today and the response from 1+1 was that the caregiver will not receive any referrals after today. I asked if the caregiver was removed from 1+1 referral lists and they stated that decision fell on another department within the organization. I'm pretty sure that caregiver will be re-circulated so just be aware LA of 1+1's business practices. It's quantity, not quality. It obvious from 1+1's responses that no follow up or customer satisfaction survey was conducted to ensure quality services; that their caregiver lists/profiles are inaccurate; and bad caregivers will be kept on the lists for another unsuspecting client. read more

Highly recommend this agency! My husband had 2 strokes and almost died. He spent months in a skilled nursing facility and was sent home abruptly. 1+1 responded immediately when I left a vm. The person talked me through the options, explained the agency's purpose AND visited my husband in the skilled nursing facility to hear what he wanted in a caregiver. She drove a ways to take time to include him in the caregiver selection. They were consistently responsive when due to work, I had to change the hours. The caregivers were very good supporting my husband with toileting and mobility. He improved under their watchful treatment. He gained mobility and enjoyed their company. They made his lunches and other light tasks. One caregiver went above and beyond in every aspect. If Del is available, he is superb. The agency asked us to try the caregiver for a week. If we were uncomfortable for any reason, they would work with us to find a more suitable person. We lucked out with the 1st two caregivers and kept them until my husband was released from supervision. read more

This Pandemic has not been easy for anyone but healthcare workers have been hit the hardest. I never had a need for a caregiver until my Brother got very I'll and is now bedridden at a facility that is short staffed and trying to keep their patients safe and healthy. I called multiple agencies for help in finding someone to assist with my Brother's care and was surprised at how many did not even return my call but that was not the case with 1 Plus 1. They have worked tirelessly to fill the time slots we needed. I especially give 5 stars to Sheila because she took the challenge head on and never gave up. My 92 year old mom fell, injuring her sternum and chest wall. She could sit up for only a few minutes before excruciating pain sent her back to bed. The staff at her Senior Living Community is wonderful, but, during the injury, my mom needed help eating which is not included in an Assisted Living plan. We called 1+1 Cares and Ronalyn was available to meet the next morning (Wednesday) to discuss our expectations. Then Mom's case manager, Carleen, matched my mom's needs to vetted, insured, and attentive caregivers. Elaine arrived that Friday morning. Not only was 1+1 Cares able to fill the position quickly, they also allowed changes to our care plan with given 24 hours notice. This worked well for our family as my mom was able to take her meals in the dining room again after two weeks of healing -- and the help from Elaine and the weekend caregivers. 1+1 Cares provides excellent and timely service for temporary caregiving. read more

I cannot recommend this agency more highly. I just do not know what I would have done without them. The skilled nursing facility my mother was being sent to from the hospital (during this COVID period, mind you) would not accept her without 24-hour sitters to keep her safe from falling. I was in a panic. Where to get someone and get someone immediately? Thankfully the hospital social worker referred me to 1 Plus 1 Cares. One quick call was all I had to make, and along with some minor electronic paperwork, a caregiver was waiting at the front door JUST AS MY MOTHER ARRIVED on the gurney. Truly awesome!! Lyz, my care advocate, was wonderful. Her communications skills were excellent. She, or another representative from the company, was always available when I needed them. Each one made me feel as if they were GLAD I was their client. That is saying a lot during this day and age of dismal customer service. Throughout my Mother's stay at the facility, if one individual did not work out, they found another one that did. If one sitter needed time off, they arranged for another sitter to cover. They did the vetting, scheduling, financials, so that all I needed to do was focus on Mom. They created a caregiving team, and what a team it was. These professionals had many decades of experience between them, and each caregiver brought to the job a special touch. Tupou recommended supplies the facility did not provide that she knew would bring Mom comfort. Almaz understood how neat and clean my Mother liked to be. Kelly spent many long nights keeping a watchful eye on her. PingPing, a nursing student, was so eager and enthusiastic. Sophie liked to tease my Mom as much as my Mom liked to tease others. They sent me pictures of Mom eating her favorite ice cream I brought for them to give her! They FaceTimed me with Mom. They let me know when it was a good time to come to her window and visit with her. I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you 1 Plus 1 Cares -- and your wonderful caregivers. read more

1+1 Cares is an organization that tries to fit the caregiver to your need, and they do a great job. We had a relative that had suffered from multiple strokes and had been hospitalized for 2 months. Our relative could walk, talk and read, but his short term memory was negligent and his cognitive thinking tasks were delayed. 1+1 Cares was able to provide someone to help this relative re-learn how to navigate the internet and research information. In addition, he spent time with this relative doing small household and gardening projects, playing brain games like checkers/puzzles/jenga, and went for walks and bikes rides.
