I'm not sure if it's the location, but it was pretty dead when I went. Of course, I ordered their famous "silk stocking" (iced) milk tea. It was pretty good, very fragrant. However, I actually prefer creamier milk teas with lots of sugar. This one is the typical HK milk tea where you can taste a little bit of the bitterness because the tea is steeped really well. I also got the pork chop bun because it was widely recommended by a lot of blogs and websites, but I didn't like it at all. I feel like the sesame seed buns didn't go well with the pork chop and sauce... maybe toasted white bread would do better. But it was really the fattiness of the pork chop that made me lose my appetite. I appreciated the tomatoes and mayo, but didn't really go well with the sesame seed buns.

Very few know about this location, or rather...they prefer the nostalgic hole in the wall "dai pai dong" location of the original. Lan Fong Yuen has done a great job in preserving the past of Hong Kong's history. We are fortunate enough to experience this type of food stands that lives on right till today. If you are around the area or is in search of a breakfast and/or afternoon snack place, give this place a try...just their infamous "stocking" milk tea is worth coming here, goes down smooth with such a rich tea flavor. While I prefer to have this drink hot, despite the humid hot HK weather outside, others likes it over ice to cool themselves down. Yes, this is the place has been talked about in many travel sites and you will find a sea of tourist here but don't be surprised to see your crowd of HK locals here as well. Found that the noodles are still el dente, but the whole effect is different then before, not as good, may be it is the soup, but my meat balls etc. was still good. Like any noodle dishes, even a slight change in the seasoning or change in any kind of ingredients will make a different effect to the whole experience. Will I go back again, probably not during the rest of my trip this time, as there are more places to explore!!

This isn't the cleanest, most appealing or friendliest establishment. So be prepared. We had... Fish Cake Egg Noodle Fish Wonton Fish Noodle Shrimp & Pork Dumpling Fish Noodle Everything was okay. The broth was bland. The egg noodles were overcooked. And the dumplings weren't very flavorful. As much as I really wanted to like the fish noodles, I couldn't. They were too heavy and rubbery for me. The fish cake and fish balls were fresh and delicious though. Service was ok. Prices were reasonable.

The…read morelocation of this restaurant was quite confusing due to our gps leading us to the wrong building. My partner & I had to ask around to find out how to get to the restaurant. Upon arrival, we were seated right away. We went late afternoon, so the lunch rush was over. Once we were seated, the workers brought out complimentary bowls of ginseng chicken soup for us to enjoy before our meal. At first, I was a bit concerned about ordering from their menu because about 3/4 of their menu was in Chinese with no English labels underneath like the other 1/4 of their menu. It's really no big deal if you have a translator app, but we were lucky enough to find the dishes we liked through the pictures in the menu along with English labels, lol. We ended up ordering beef cubes in black pepper sauce with potato's, tofu in brown sauce, fish fillet in creamy corn sauce, mala flavored string beans, & 2 lemon iced teas. Our total came out to $520 HKD which is about $74 USD. A little pricey, but we did order a lot of food + it was very tasty, so no regrets. Our meal was so good that we decided to go back again for dinner a couple days later. I believe they're open late, so I would definitely recommend going before/after the lunch/dinner rush. When we went during dinner, there was a 30 min wait for 2 people. Also, if you're a small party of 1-3 or 4 people, they will split the table to share among other customers who are solo dining or are dining with another guest. Definitely something to keep in mind if you're not comfortable with sharing a table with random people, lol. Overall, great food. Looking forward to eating here again the next time I'm in HKG.
