Since I grew up most of my childhood in Causeway Bay, therefore, I booked my hotel in Causeway Bay. Rosedale is one of the affordable place with a "hotel" quality I found in such a busy area. The hotel is right across the street from the Victoria Park. Although, it is a little bit far from the MTR but the Tram and bus station are just right outside next to the Main Library.
I had just a regular room with two twin beds ( put into one queen size ) The room is quite small, perfect for one person or couples to stay. I would not suggest friends to share rooms even though they have two twin beds if you are the type of person like some space and privacy because the two twin beds are just few inches apart. They have TV channels in different languages and free local channels only. With this small room, they have a bath tub that fits one person which is not bad at all in Hong Kong Hotel with affordable price and in Causeway Bay. Even though it is quite a small room but it is neat, clean and very comfortable. I can adjust my own temperature inside my room which is very important to me because I feel hot in Hong Kong from Jan- Dec.
Staffs were nice and helpful. However, I have to remind them to speak CANTONESE to me please. Yes, just like every hotels, this hotel has a lot of Mainlanders guests, too. Staffs properly forgot that they are in Hong Kong. I checked in with my passport and spoke to the same people two days already but they still came up to me in Mandarin. Yes, I have to remind them. Other than that, the service was good.
The entrance is small hiding in a small street which can be easily missed. However, if you are going from HKG, you can take the citybus E11 and get off at Victoria Park, just walk across the street and there is the hotel. If you need to go to the airport from the hotel, forget the hotel shuttle, they don't take you to the airport directly. The easiest way is to take Citybus A11 in front of the Main Library go directly to the HKG. The bus is also the cheapest way, too!
There is a Buffet on the 2nd floor of the hotel but I didn't have a chance to try them. It looks very nice though. The lobby is located on the real 2nd floor which is nice. ( The entrance is on the G floor! ) The only thing is this hotel does not have any view if you don't stay on the higher levels. I stayed on the 9th floor and my view was the building across the street. I am okay with it. I kept my curtains close and I felt comfortable.
The neighborhood is quite convenience. 7-11 is one block away. Starbucks and McDonald's are the other side around the corner. There are also some local restaurants, too. If you always need the MTR, I will suggest to use the Tin Hau Station will be easier.
A little tip here. The laundry service is quite expensive with this hotel. It can cost you a lot of money to use the service since Hong Kong's weather is hot and humid in the summer and will need to change a lot of clothes. I will suggest people to walk 2-3 blocks (less than 10mins walk) to bring the machine wash clothes to the local laundry shops, walk towards Leighton Road, passed by St Paul's convent hospital and school towards the kindergarten side, before the Caroline Hill Road which they are underneath the residential buildings. ( you will need to walk inside) (There are a lot of food around there, too! ) The first 7lbs of clothes were only under HK$50 and might add only few dollars per lbs, wash and folding. read more
