I've eaten a lot of poki at this point, so this place was a bit of a let down for seafood when HK…read moreis so close to the sea. Maybe it's because I came right before closing, but a few things happened: - I ordered a bowl that was supposed to be tuna, but received a salmon poki bowl after waiting 5-10 minutes. They offered to replace it. I waited another 5 minutes. -the tuna bowl was missing the additional seaweed salad. I had to ask for it again. I waited another 2-4 minutes. -the tuna bowl wasn't that fresh, which was disappointing given how close we are to the sea and seafood markets.

Anyways, back to pololi review: I used Google map to get here, so it's pretty easily and fairly accurate. Cute little restaurant that you can't miss :) Once you are inside, you will realized the a/c is not strong enough, which got me a little worried cause they are selling raw food. $90hkd for a bowl with two protein options, not including any sides. I was hoping their style could be more like California where you can pick any sides for free and at least have 10 sides for you to choose from. I like the flavor that they've created, especially avo-mayo. I think the Mayo actually helps breakdown the tenderness of the fish, so it's not as chewy as the other favor tunas. And sadly, they only have one type of flavor for salmon :( Overall this bowl got me full and didn't get me sick good flavor, clean, decent price. 4 stars

If you're on one of those western diets like paleo, raw, or vegan, you surprisingly have choices…read morehere in Central HK. Nood Food is one of them. I have yet to try the food, but one afternoon I had a sudden craving for a smoothie and Yelp led me here. After considering the various smoothie options (a plus in my book!) I ended up with the Berry Pump. Since it uses ingredients like almond milk and coconut, it's definitely more nutty than fruity but I enjoyed it nonetheless. What's nice is that they have stickers they put on every cup that has all ingredients listed along with nutritional information if you're counting calories. If you choose to sit towards the back (as opposed to the front bar area where you can people-watch the escalators) you might want try their complimentary "structured living water", which is apparently not just any water. I've honestly never heard of this concept and in my mind I read it as "strange voodoo water" but to each his own!

Personally, I call it a mild form of orthorexia. Despite my penchant for night market snacks and sushi and candied yams and all of that, there's nothing I love more than a raw cacao brownie or a giant plate of micro greens. Unfortunately, the Western organic food movement hasn't quite caught on in Taiwan at all. So I did a bunch of research and made a list of places I wanted to visit in HK, a place filled with health-conscious Western palates. Where the kale is abundant, the Quest Bars are numerous, and the cold-pressed green juice flows freely. nood food is a raw, organic cafe located right alongside the Pure Fitness gym in the SoHo district. There are both dine-in and takeaway food options, plus a full juice/smoothie bar and pre-packaged food items for sale (kale chips, raw chocolate bars, crackers, granola). You can also purchase juice cleansing sets from them as well. I didn't bother looking into this as I was only in town for the weekend. We dropped in for an early dinner on a Saturday evening. After much deliberation, I opted for the small salad box. For $62HKD, you get to pick 4 different salads from a pre-prepared selection in the display case. The brown box is deceptively minuscule - the guys there generously pack it to the brim! I had the kale, roasted pumpkin, cucumbers, and eggplant. Everything was so fresh! Seasoned to perfection, with a savory Mediterranean flair, and absolutely delicious. If I lived in Hong Kong, I would surely be a frequent customer.

3.5 Came the other…read moreday for lunch. It's a popular choice for people who work in central. I've been coming for several years now. Their main dish is obviously the fish and chips. Despite it being a British colony and everything, Hong Kong surprisingly does not have many fish and chips places; the closest you get is maybe having 魚柳 for breakfast, which is kind of a different thing all together. The fish here generally is good. Kind of expensive, but that's sort of par for the course in central, though I was surprised that the portions were pretty small. the ambiance is quite nice, and feel here is somewhat sophisticated. Best to have a reservation, though they do take walk ins. There is a dress code FYI, no open toed shoes

I am not naturally inclined to places of high expenses even if it is worth the money, especially when I'm eating alone. Nonetheless for the only time I visited this place, the difference was that it was my friend's birthday and it would be very wrong for me not to join them. Walking down the stairs that leads to the interior of the restaurant, there were basically two type of diners in the room; they were either rich banker type of suit wearing businessmen or couples dressing up to celebrate their special days. The felt so under-dressed that day that I wish I could go back and get changed; it was almost humiliatingly to dress in t-shirts and shorts to go into restaurants as such. Back to the main point, the food and beverage. This place is famous for its seafood and oysters and I would not disagree with that. We ordered a few oysters as suggested by the waiter and they were as fresh as they can get. Oysters have to come fresh or they spoil rather quickly; Dotcod has specialize in the selection of oysters and has ensured the quality from origin to the plates of the customers. The waiters know their oysters too and it is not a bad move to ask them for recommendations. Other seafood dishes are worth trying as well; the white baits are fried to golden crispy perfection while the fisherman's pie is a variation on the traditional shepherd's pie but lighter and milder. I also enjoyed the foie gras and chicken liver parfait a lot; the creamy richness against the crunch of the toast makes the perfect combination, but since it is meant to be an appetizer, the portion was rather scant for a table of 6. For a restaurant with such high standards and quality, it is understandable why they charge such a price; but still, this would not be my highest priority for a place to have dinner. Well...put it this way...if I am more well off, I would definitely come to this place more often~ now you see my point?

Although I am a member of this gym, I did find out that you do not have to be a member of this gym in order to stop by Nood Food in the lobby area to grab some food or a smoothie. This location is much smaller than the Nood Food location in Kinwick up the street. It is more of a grab and go location. Raw, organic, clean, natural, whole food, fresh. Plain and simple at its best. I love this being right inside my gym. All the work is done for me in making a great, healthy decision for the protein/carb refuel I need after a workout. I have consumed a few smoothies, a salad or two and today I had a half a sandwich and a fresh coconut water...pressed by them! They make their prepacked food off site (maybe at the Kinwick location and I am talking about their salads, sandwiches, cold snacks, etc)) and when those are gone, be it at 3PM or 6PM, there is no restocking. When they are out for the day, they are out for the day. But they can make any smoothie or shake anytime. They also have raw snacks made by them (like trail mixes, etc), a wide variety of premade pressed jucies and bottled water (Fuji or Volvic) that are always available as well. If you are looking for raw, healthy, organic...this is a great spot. Being a gym rat, I am certain I will now eat more meals out of this establishment than my own kitchen at home. LOL!
