But then mom told us its history. Sun Sun restaurant moved to Shamrock Hotel in the 1950s at the invitation of the hotel owner, and told the hotel's name. The hotel was just across the street from Bruce Lee's childhood home and his family was a regular visitor. Recently, due to a lease issue, the restaurant moved out of the hotel after 64 years, and, resuming its old name, reopened in the building next door. Mom also told us that this restaurant was where my parents had their wedding banquet, as well as the new born banquets for me and my brother. Which explains her personal fondness for this restaurant. So, this restaurant and me goes way back. I suppose it was one of my earliest dining experience. For that, I wish I could give it a five star. Alas, I cannot. After a little wait our orders came out. They were served steaming hot. My order came with a bonus "fan jiu" or scorched rice on the side. They were delicious and my wife and I agreed most satisfying. The few aunties that waited on us spoke little to no English, but were friendly enough. They were patient and we were able to convey what we wanted to order. Since it wasn't busy we were able to take our time eating and rest a little after walking around all morning.
