In the mood for a "snack", we stopped in to sample a few dumplings (crispy pan fried, xiaolongbao, and wontons) and the sesame noodles.
For a late Saturday lunch the restaurant was still almost at capacity. The dishes started arriving soon after ordering. The first to arrive were the shrimp and pork wontons which were cold and the encasings congealed. Having to forcibly bit into each one was unappetizing as we awaited the other items. The noodles arrived next and were also room temperature at best. After mixing the noodles with the sesame sauce it seemed a little better but still wasn't enjoyable. Finally the crispy pan fried pork buns and recommended xiaolongbao arrived. Both were decent, but a disappointment after seeing a dumpling award reference in the window.
If I'd had a bigger appetite, I would have liked to have tried a few other items to have a bigger sample, but based on what we had I wouldn't venture back here with plenty of safe bets like Crystal Jade and Din Tai Fung available. read more
