I saw an Instagram post about their truffle and scrambled egg toast and decided that I must try this place. If you were to tell me to imagine what a Hong Kong style cafe looked like in the 70's, Lo Fung is exactly what I would image. It feels like nothing in this cafe has changed since then, between the decor, food, and music. It brings a very nostalgic feeling.
I wouldn't say their food is the best thing I've ever had though. We had their pork chop sandwich, truffle and scrambled egg toast, chicken with instant noodles, and black peppered beef with rice. All of it was just a little too greasy and tasted like there was too much MSG. Their drinks are very fun and tasty though! They have a iced milk tea that has large frozen balls of milk tea as the ice so the flavor doesn't get watered down as the ice melts. They also have an iced Ovaltine drink that has whipped cream, crushed cookies, whole cookies, and cereal on top. The drinks were easily the star of the meal.
Lastly, the meal wasn't cheap. We spent $210 with 3 people. $70/person way too expensive for a place like this.
If you're looking for a fun place to experience what Hong Kong used to be like, go to Lo Fung but definitely don't go for the food. read more
