There are actually three Phanat Thai restaurants all within a few feet of each other. This one is upstairs, and is the more presentable version of the downstairs take out café, even with bare walls. There are pictures and artifacts of the old country. Our CHF20.50 pad thai was pretty standard in taste, but the presentation was spectacular. Served in bowl resembling a dragon boat, with 6 medium shrimp on the sides, rice noodles in the center, topped with bean sprouts, with crushed nuts on the edge of the dish, topped with a lemon. Not as good a shrimp as Yun Nan. Asked for medium spicy, but next get high spiciness, to give it more kick, if ordering it again. The CHF22 spicy chicken with rice, came with hot chili peppers, red peppers, green peppers, amid shredded chicken. Topped off with an over easy egg. Good presentation, and one of the best basil chicken dishes I've tasted at a Thai restaurant. Ordered a CHF4 Sprite, otherwise would have paid CHF2, or $2.14, for each glass of tap water!

It's a small place than can accommodate about 24-seats. Base on my US Thai experience, I would say the food is very authentic; just by looking at the ladies cooking in the kitchen. They remind me of my grandparents. The food is not Spicy Hot, but they give you a variety of sauce to spicy it up to your liking. Although the gentlemen did come abruptly and did seem condescending, it is a personality of an individual in a foreign place. Some people are not as fluid in their communication as others and therefore try to say the right words is not as simple. I would give it a try with an open mind

Yelp Review 2026 #44:…read more We came to Prik Thai because of multiple factors: it was close to our hotel, we wanted food with flavor, it's highly rated on all review websites, and it had been raining all day. I saw pictures of their Pad Thai and it looked the same as the Pad Thai I would eat in Bangkok. So, I knew what I was going to get even before getting here. We walked past this restaurant several times to/from the hotel and there's always a lot of people. It just has to be good. The restaurant is small with maybe 10 tables. To see the menu and place your order, scan the QR code. Our server brought us our drinks and she asked us if we placed our food order and we had to show her what we ordered. A few minutes later, our food arrived. But we didn't have plates. We asked for plates and the server seemed confused. We were too. Are we supposed to eat straight from the plate the food came in on?!? Chicken Pad Thai: Looked legit. Piping hot. I cut the egg-wrapped pad Thai in half to let the steam out. It had red onions which changed the flavor. This was a cross between pad see ew and pad Thai. It had a smokey/ barbecue-esque flavor to it. The portion was massive - it can be shared by 2 people. Did not finish. 2/5 Spring Rolls: It comes with 3 per order. Piping hot as well. Very oily. All I could taste was oil. Did not finish. 2/5 We waited over 30 minutes after we gave up eating to get our check so we could leave. But all the employees took their dinner break all at the same time. We had to walk to the counter so somebody could acknowledge us. Our server, who was still chewing, asked us if we wanted our leftovers to-go. It wasn't good when it was still hot and fresh. It certainly won't be good cold. My hair and my clothes smelled like cooking oil after.

My husband speaks Thai so that was good but the server spoke some English. We ordered Pad Thai (we usually steer clear of it in the states because they make it too sweet in most Thai restaurants but the server convinced my husband), Massaman curry, chicken and vegetables stir fry, papaya salad, and drunken noodles. Everything was delicious and what we expected, except for the drunken noodles--they were completely different to what we were used to but still very good. I am very glad that the server convinced my husband to get the Pad Thai because it was amazing. My favorite, however, was the Massaman curry; combined with the rice, it was absolute heaven. I was happy. The food is great, prices are very good, and service is quick and friendly. Our family was in their very happy place and ready to explore more of Luzern.

The spice level is pretty good - the owner offers levels 1 through 10 and we felt that the level 10 was a good satisfying level of spicy for those of us who are used to eating very spicy food. Those with more delicate tastes can opt for no spice and still have a very tasty bowl of beef noodle soup. The flavor profile is good - exceptional for what one can find in this part of Europe. It was very satisfying. We also ordered the cold chicken with dipping sauce - its mild taste is a good balance against the spice in the noodle soup. The star of our meal was the traditional chicken in clay pot. It is cooked exceptionally well and the flavors are subtle, but multi-layered and complex. Again, a good balance with the spices in the noodle soup. We ordered some of the fruity tea drinks with little pearl bubbles on the bottom. The flavor is a little bland and we wouldn't recommend it.

I had their Pad Pak-Reis with tofu, of the row of pictures displayed, this looked to have mostly vegetables, something I've been lacking while on vacation. The food was mediocre, not Oh Wow level. The staff and their taking care of their customers could not have been in any way better, attentive, quick to respond and serve. The food was a whole different experience. My wife & I ordered the beef Bibimbap for each of us. While the dish in itself was decent, the total rip off on the beef was surprising for a CHF40 dish. There were a few shreds of shaved beef hidden under a fried egg. This was the case in both servings, hence clearly not an error but a tourism rip off gig. While I had a cup of their rice wine, We also asked for 2 cups of tap water & were charged per cup of tap water. The lack of beef on a beef dish and the charging for tap eliminated all feel good from the meal & left us with a feeling that their enterprise was an unmitigated money grab. Despite the good service I would not recommend this place nor will I return for food or drink.

Despite the initial slow service once our food got here everything was good. The portion size was quite nice the white rice was definitely bigger bowl than I expected. The quality of the food was quite nice about what I had expected very comparable to good Thai restaurants here in NYC. The price was definitely a shock at first as with most restaurants here in Switzerland however compare to other places it's quite modest at around 20-30 CHF for main entrees. Definitely a good choice if you looking for Thai food here at Luzern. Better to ask ahead if you're a larger group however as the place is rather small probably only sits 5-6 tables total.
