Oh Happy Garden, what a sight for sore eyes and a grumbly tummy! Post Dragon's Back, we were desperately on the prowl for delicious nourishment. Other restaurant choices seemed overpriced and/or lacking in vegetarian option so Happy Garden won out as our late lunching destination.
Now Happy Garden is pretty hole-in-the-wall-y and in fact the front of the restaurant is wall-less, perhaps to offer diners a glimpse of the sandy terrain and mild (on this particular day) waves? The menu is quite a beastly thing, much selection, much overload. Fortunately, the server was able to clarify vegan and veganizable options. This prompted us to you know, order way too much food like the (not-so) secret gluttons we are. Dat yellow curry tho! Turns out the beautiful array of freshly prepared and flavorfully cooked bright vegetables was exactly what my broken body needed. The young coconut water is an absolute must because hello, you're on a beach, and it's cheap and delicious.
Come to think of it, this was one of the more affordable feasts we indulged in during our vacay. Ain't nothing like an unpretentious massive meal with close friends to commemorate a stupendous time in and around Hong Kong! read more
