This relatively high-end Chiu Chou restaurant has been around for many years and this branch is located in Elements. It's near the north entrance.
We came here for dim sum lunch. I especially enjoy their mushroom dumpling, with a black skin made from olive pickled leaves. The soy marinated tofu is not smooth enough, and the cheung fu is on the firm side. We ordered the sweet and sour pan fried noodles. It's my first time trying it, I expected something like an orange sauce over noodles, but we were instead given a bowl of white sugar and a carafe of vinegar, and apparently this is how this dish is normally served. While the cake of noodles is crispy on the outside, it's a dense mess of soggy and mushy noodles inside. It would be better is the noodles was less cooked and better drained/dried before hitting the frying pan.
Following the Chiu Chou traditional, kungfu tea is offered at the beginning and end of the meal. It's basically a very strong brew of tea in a miniature cup. As they bring only the cups instead of along with a teapot to pour at the table, the tea is not as hot as it should be.
Despite the few misses, overall it's quite a nice selection of dim sum and generally good flavor. read more
