My son said it's a good thing the nai cha in the states are not as good because he was starting to develop an addiction. Lol. For those of you who don't know, it's made with Ceylon leaves, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. The French toast was so damn delicious but a bit indulgent. I do wish I could taste more of the peanuts. My son loved his bolo bao. We also shared a hot bowl of macaroni soup with Spam and lettuce. Thinking back, I regret not trying the Spicy Satay Beef Instant Noodle. I will have to look for this back in the states. The aunties working here are just the most adorable, very kind and welcoming. One of them took the time to help us navigate the huge menu and recommended a few items. I would come back again and again if I could. I have a mad love for these iconic HK Style Cafes aka Cha Chaan Tengs. These affordable quick-paced restaurants were influenced by the city's 150 years of British rule. I liked the interior design of this place, with lots of resemblance of HK street life, as well as a MTR-like map that mixes actual Tuen Ma Line stations with popular HK style cafe items. I had the satay beef instant noodles with scrambled egg and toast. It was good! The satay had a flavourful taste, and the scrambled egg was exactly how it should be: layered and relatively smooth. You seat yourself when you walk in then they'll take your order once seated. The check is brought to you ahead of time but you won't pay until you bring the check up to the counter when you're done. Definitely a cheap eats option as we had two meals along with two pineapple buns and egg tarts for only around $15 US!! Downside is that it's cash only, they didn't accept credit cards.
