I know it's a chain, but this place really blows. Like a McDonald's for dessert, but worse.
We came here after a failed attempt to find Chung So (only to find out it's closed), so we decided to settle anywhere for dessert. First, they have false advertising on the outside of their shop. They don't carry your traditional HK tong suis on their actual menu and use it as a bait to lure you in. It's mostly a hangout spot for youngsters who probably could care less about the food quality.
Second, the "free WiFi" sign so up high on their walls is also a lie--unless the teenage waiters really didn't want to give me the password, but there was clearly WiFi available--just not "free".
I got the Mango Pomelo Sago with Tofu and it was really hard to finish it. The watery mango sago was clearly mostly made of either mango juice or powder and the tofu tasted like it was days old--certainly not the type of "aged tofu" I would've found myself eating. The mango chunks were okay, but I don't think their mango desserts look very appetizing in general. I'd go to Hui Lau Shan for that, although I'm no mango dessert expert.
We all ordered different varieties, but agreed that the quality and price probably would've been a lot better elsewhere. read more
