IKEA is a maze, but the bistro is actually not hard to get to. Simply take the lift from the ground floor of Homesquare at the side of Franc Franc - the lift only goes up to the sixth floor. Get out there and you'll be at the exit of IKEA, right where the bistro is. You'll recognize it by the line of people queuing up! The bistro is, well, just kind of a food stand, so the variety of food is definitely less than at the cafe. IKEA favorites like the smoked salmon and the potato vegetable cake aren't available here, but there are a range of snacks instead. You can get cinnamon buns, cream puffs and others that you can't get at the cafe. No worries - the signature meatballs are here too, at five meatballs for $9! That's cheaper than at the cafe, where five costs $10 and ten costs $19. Coffee and soft drinks are cheaper here and also come with free refills too! My mother and I were leaving IKEA today and were attracted by one of their monthly specials - shrimp toasts. At 3 for $10, they were pretty cheap so we joined the line and got them. Unfortunately, they were disappointing - barely warm, and the shrimp wasn't even fully cooked. We didn't finish it and just tossed it because we didn't want to risk eating uncooked shrimp. To be frank, in a scale of 10 the food of IKEA (item dependent) normally would not exceed a 7, that is to say the food there is not exceptionally good; however, you must also take in the price factor into consideration in order to make a fair comparison. Say for example the meatballs that people are all crazy about; it is true that the gravy is kinda good and flavorful, the meatballs are not dry at all but they are certainly not the "finger licking good" type of grub (well...nor is the chain that uses this slogan...i'm just saying). Now how bout I tell you they cost less than $20 for 10 pcs of them? Given the fact that they are made by real, good quality meat makes it almost unbelievably economical. Imagine a world that $30 is no longer sufficient for a lunchbox while the quality is of question, the food court in IKEA is a dream come true not only for cheapskates but also those who are tired of traditional lunchboxes. The pizza was thin crust and crispy. It was loaded with toppings (tomatoes, green peppers, onions, pineapple, ham, and cheese) and shaped like Mickey's head. The Mickey Sushi was also shaped like a mouse head. It was sushi rice and tobiko. I liked the fried chicken wings the best. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. When we arrived at the Bridge, there were 2 escalators connecting the gate level with the lounge, one going down directly to it, the other going back up.  In the center was the reception area of the lounge where friendly staff welcomed us.  She told us that Chinese/Asian food was to our left, and western food to our right. The 3 of us turned left for Chinese food.  It was a long lounge and very crowded (I found that this was due to another CP lounge was closed for renovation).  There were sections of different seats, but most of them seemed to be filled.  When there seemed to be no further section, my husband asked a staff, and the answer was there was another section farther down, that's where we settled down.  There was decent Chinese food, including their signature Wonton Noodle Soup at the Noodle Bar.  I ordered at the bar, the cook gave me a buzzer, its red lights lit up when the noodle was ready for pick up.  It only took 2 minutes.  I had to transport the hot noodle back to my table, though.  I also picked up a few dim sum and several pieces of steamed rice rolls and added peanut sauce and sweet sauce to them (HK street food).  These were all pretty good.  I was going to get a bowl of congee as well, but was happy that I didn't.  If I did, I would have no room for the food that I actually loved! What made me crave were to be found from the other side of the reception area, where  I decided to explore the section with western food as well.  Long story short, the little bite sized cake and a mini twist pastry with fruit bits were surprisingly delicious.  I only took one of each and walked all the way back.  When I decided to go back for seconds, they had totally switched from breakfast items to lunch.  I picked up 2 savory appetizers and 2 mini lemon tartlets, one intended for my husband.  They were also very good, but the freshly baked mini pastry with crispy edges still lives rent free in my head weeks later! If I ever go to this lounge again, I will split my visit between the 2 sections.  First go to the Chinese wing, and then our entire group of 3 would go to the western section to have pastries and coffee, or other drinks from their bar. Since I have not tried their hot cooked food in the western wing, I could not comment on those. They have a bunch of portal fans around. If you want to shower, there's an additional cost. The restrooms were fairly clean. It's a mid lounge overall. I had another layover on the my return flight, also in Hong Kong, and opted to walk around the airport and buy food instead of going back to this lounge.

While I've mainly dined in here for breakfast, they really showcase their variety during the dinner hour. And at just over 278HKD, there should be something to look forward to. For people trying to maximize their value, the seafood seems to make the most sense. They have had lobster claws, crab legs, shrimp tails, which are solid for the pricing. I would also give a thumbs up for the sashimi options and most of the desserts. While the deli meats and hot foods are disappointing, the noodle bar options probably the biggest offenders of the lineup. Laksa and pho should never be that bad anywhere.
