We bought good quality jackets, dresses, pajamas from here from bunch of shops. Also got lots of souvenirs at least than half of price compared to stores in malls and airports. There are many bakery and restaurants near the streets. All selling amazing and delicious looking HK style foods. We had some quick bites while shopping, all tasted so good. I'd highly recommended this area to all tourists looking to pack up their luggage with lots of shopping.

Hong Kong's Fa Yuen Street Market is like Honolulu's Oahu Market... it's like a semi-enclosed…read moremarket where you can get freshly butchered meats. The fragrance is familiar... LOL! Some vendors had roasted meats like whole chickens and slabs of cha siu. We were able to find this market via Yelp and Google Maps. The MTR Mong Kok Station was nearby and there even was an elevator! The upper floor has more produce while the top floor is more like a restaurant.

Fa Yuen Street Market and Food Centre is actually what it is and for a moment had us confused thinking this was we were looking for and as we peeked in and saw some roast chicken and various other foods along with a lot of folks looks like a place that many flock over and what hungry fellow wouldn't myself as well which I'm usually curious but it wasn't what we were looking for though browsing is always a fun adventure for this shopaholic shopping is my real vibe. Came here on a private Kowloon Michelin Star Street Food and Culture Tour with Hello Hong Kong…read more Can't comment on the food, because we did not even explore the food markets in this building which was surprising because we were on a street food tour. Instead, our guide Alex brought us to the sixth floor to talk and talk and talk about the housing crisis in Hong Kong. Public housing. Private housing. Standards for housing. How private buildings with take one three bedroom unit and subdivide it into four units. The unit may just be a room with a shared bathroom and no kitchen, a bedroom and small kitchen, or a bedroom with a small kitchen and a bathroom. The whole unit may be 100 square feet. A 10 foot by 10 foot until for a family which may include three generations and pets. Over time, squatters have even been grandfathered in as they have built a small house on top of the roof. Lots of TV antennas on the roof as well as trees that have sprouted up. No elevators in the buildings that we viewed from the sixth floor. Lots of stairs to climb. Many people waiting on the lucky lottery tickets for years and years to be eligible for public housing that would cost $150, $250 or $350 per month. Can't make too high of an income or they don't qualify. Great view of the dilapidated public buildings in the foreground that contrasted with beautiful, new public housing buildings in the background. Also interesting to hear how older people collect cardboard soaked with water to be sold for recycling. Why soaked with water? It is sold by weight, so the water makes it heavier.

I mean this is a tourist attraction fruits. They do sell fruits that I have never seen before. They also gave some fruits name that I was not familar with or names different from what North American would call it. Like Passion fruit as Columbia Apple. Cool Place to check out.
