A feast worth coming back to…read more We came here for dinner and ordered one of the large sharing platters for five, then added a couple of à la carte cuts because the menu was too tempting to stop there. Our platter came with beautifully marbled beef cuts like kalbi, misuji, rosu, and filet, plus tongue and other prime selections. We also tried the premium zabuton and harami à la carte, which turned out to be some of the highlights of the night. Every single cut of beef was top quality, tender, and perfectly complemented by the sauces on the table. The flavors were clean and rich without being heavy, exactly what you want in yakiniku. The service was very good, staff were friendly and helpful, and the style of the booths gave a nice sense of space and privacy. The restaurant was not too busy so we got to relax and enjoy our food at our own pace. Between the platter, the extra cuts, and the great side dishes, it was an unforgettable meal. I would definitely come back.

Food: 4.5 stars Service: 3.5 stars Environment: 4.25 stars Overall: 4.25 stars Recommendations: all things beef The meat here is really top notch and will melt in your mouth. The rice they use is also particularly high quality. If you have a big appetite the beef curry and Wagyu Katsu set is a really good choice. This is a place that I will definitely come back to try different cuts of Wagyu beef.

The meal my coworkers ordered included some meats, vegetables, and a fish soup. The soup was extremely hot but, once it was safe to taste it, it was delicious. Hearty, flavorful, really good! I'm not sure if you are allowed to cook the meats yourself but, our server did it all for us, explaining the right way to do it, and how to tell when all is cooked. I really enjoyed the process, I've always loved watching people cook and open kitchen restaurants so, this was fun for me. On top of that, everything was cooked perfectly and all tasted so fresh. They also had a sort of mini salad bar on the side, with some few items for you to help yourself from. I only tried the pumpkin soup. I was a little hesitant at first but loved it. It's creamy, a little sweet plus, it's pumpkin so, you feel like it's good for you. If I'd known of this before I had all the food on our table, I would have had seconds. Do note, the two servers we had did not speak English. Thankfully I was with locals so they helped me order, if not, I'm sure pointing at the pictures in the menu (those are helpful) would have done the trick.

Though Sorabol's Causeway Bay branch seems to be more popular, you'll still need reservations to chow down in TST - you're not missing out! As a party of five, we ordered a pretty wide selection of side dishes including two types of kimchi (which were later refilled four times - for free!). We began the main part of the meal with one portion of the Sliced Beef Chuck Flap, two of the Marinated Top-Grade Short Ribs, and a basket of lettuce to accompany them. A server usually comes by to prepare the barbecue dishes, but it was apparent that the restaurant was quite understaffed, strangely enough on a Friday night, so we cooked them ourselves. That being said, the quality of the beef was sick, being perfectly tender with a tang of sweetness. Its marinade made it sweet enough so that it would've tasted great without any additional flavoring, but also mild enough so that it got even better with a dipping sauce of sesame oil and fine sea salt. The Seafood Pancake was just the right amount of crispy with plenty of seafood per slice, and it came with a nicely curated soy sauce with scallions, sesame seeds, and fresh chili slices. When it came time for the Seafood Noodles Hot Pot, however, it took quite a while to get someone to come and cook it (they got distracted multiple times), and they forgot to return when it was finished. Overall, I'd say this: the friendly attitude of Sorabol's service was great for our experience despite the shortage of help. The price you pay, though relatively higher than some other KBBQ joints, is pretty reasonable considering the value you get in food quality. Will definitely be back!

I'm from Los Angeles where Korean Town has arguably one of the best Korean BBQ outside of South Korea. For this price you can't beat having the wide range of selection. The meats are not your typical thinly sliced rolled meats (see pics), but meat is meat and I can't complain. In typical Korean BBQ restaurants the serves are really attentive to that and will change it for you when it gets burnt.

This place sells itself with authentic Korean BBQ. The atmosphere is decent, but the seating is pretty tight, especially when five people got seated around a small round table. There is barely space to put our plates, let alone all the bbq items! For the bbq, there is a good selection of meats. Alas, some of them were a bit chewy and stringy, and wasn't quite top notch. Apart from meats, we also got a few other items to share. There was a beef bone soup, which was delicious, steamed egg, and a hot pot that came after the bbq. The hot pot is called the "troop's pot", and apparently resembles what the Korean troops would eat -- a bunch of minced beef, spam, mushrooms, veggies and a slice of cheese (one slice!) thrown into a kimchi-laced broth. There are many kinds of Korean drinks you can fetch from the coolers, so make sure you try some of them! Also, they have delicious banchan. Kimchi and the baby bok choy was our favourite. All in all, I would say this place is pretty good, but it left much to be desired. Everything would be better with a little bit of improvement, and the staff could use a little additional training in Cantonese (they only speak English and Korean) ;)

I had better luck when I lived in SoFlo! Granted this place is great for large groups and it's very, very inexpensive. But with inexpensive you also get cheaper cuts of meat. Thankfully, you also get to cook the crap out of it. Hey, I never said I won't be a vegetarian by the time we leave Hong Kong! Let's start with the positive side: Hubby and I ate at an all you can eat buffet for around $118HKD or roughly $15USD a piece which is super cheap!! (Not sure how much the tea was but really, you can't get much cheaper for a lunch buffet that I know of. The choices are okay, I wouldn't say extensive by any means. The meat area is all set up in square metal tins in a huge self-serving area. There were huge caldrons of stews and soups which looked good but neither of us tried any of those. And now for the Negative side: While we were immediately seated upon walking in. We couldn't get a server or a menu for a few minutes. We both looked at each other as the serves were rushing by and finally we held up our hand. Maybe they assumed we knew what to do? I guess assumed we were getting the buffet. Once we received the menu and looked it over, we decided to do the buffet. Normally, I really dislike buffets because well, everything is just sitting there starting at you, begging to be taken off the table. But since we were committed and famished, we decided to just go with it. Thankfully, my husband enjoys barbequing...so I never hesitate to take him to eat Korean BBQ. No one in this city cares if you walk around smelling like a BBQ so it's all good! I also really liked that we were able to determine the right amount of "doneness" because some of the meat looked a little sketchy if you know what I mean. As for the taste. Overall, it was just okay. I mean when you're not impressed by much and definitely isn't "Wowing you" it doesn't leave any impression except that it filled us up so we could do our necessary shopping. I don't think it will be on my return radar!
