The staff nodded, repeated the order, and got us two drinks. My friend was probably being too nice to not point out that the Hendrick's Ginger Ale was too light in Hendrick's and too much in ginger ale. But hey, now that we finished the first round of drinks, why didn't we order another round anyway, while waiting for another friend to come, before we headed to our dinner? Perfect, let me order a Hendrick's Tonic. "Sorry?" "Hendrick's. As in the gin." "So you want Gin Tonic?" Said the staff, who wasn't as confused when he took our first order. "Yes, but with this specific brand of Gin called Hendrick's." "Let me check if we have it..." "But it's on the menu?" I pointed at the menu, where clearly showing they did serve Hendrick's. "Oh right, surely." My friend now wondered if she really got a Hendrick's Ginger Ale. Oh yeah, you know that answer already when you are reading this, but we had to wait until the bill came to confirm. I'd have given them a 2-star if it's not a newly opened bar. Also, I asked for the address of the place (so that I could send to my friends coming over). Apparently it wasn't on any of their drink menu or leaflets. They didn't have a business card either. And they ended up giving me the receipt of some other table which finally got their address. Well, they had a big arse TV just happened to show Janet Hsieh on TLC. That got some of my very subjective points.

The Ritz-Carlton is part of the building that forms the tallest building in Hong Kong. The view is certainly amazing. It actually gave me a new perspective of HK, as someone who's lived here before, with all the shipping and ferry transport action that I saw. I wasn't hungry at all, so I simply went with a cheese platter and a milk tea with boba. It was okay, there was a wide selection variety of cheese, and the milk tea taste was strong. Not the best I've had, but you're paying more for the view here than the food. Service was good here. As long as you get a window seat, you'll get your value out of coming here. I probably wouldn't do it if I wasn't able to get a window seat.

We ordered 4 cocktails and only 1 was good. We didn't finish the other 3 because they just tasted horrible. My advice is just get something simple like gin and tonic or coke and rum. Their own signature cocktails were a waste of money. We also ordered fries and fried chicken which were overcooked. They were probably left in the fryer for too long. An absolute delight to have as a server, and frankly while my review isn't particularly positive, I would have found the experience to be borderline 1 star just based on the actual flavors of the food relative to the pricing if not for him having saved the experience. If I could do this dinner again, I would honestly order less food, as you get the same view whether you order a single tasting menu and grab some takeout elsewhere afterwards, but at face value the flavors seemed bold yet feasible, as though they could turn out well depending on the execution. In reality we ended up spending approximately $1200HKD per person on a tasting menu that had one to two memorable items each. We actually spent an additional $98HKD on a dish that neither one of us felt compelled to finish. The second course tempura was more interesting flavor-wise than either of our mains, in part due to the chili infused tempura sauce doing a lot of heavy lifting. We are not generally fine dining individuals, it is an occasion we reserve for special events (this was our anniversary), but we do have enough experience to know that the execution of these dishes was miles away from a single Michelin star, yet commanded prices well above most of the one-star restaurants we've visited. The waiter took plenty of photos to commemorate the experience, and we managed to see both the 8PM "city of lights" show on the businesses spread along the harbor, as well as a fascinating lightning storm directly in front of us in a massive panoramic, which should lead to an unforgettable night, but the quality of the food left us grasping at straws to find silver linings. I wish I could remember this experience more fondly, but every time a family member asks whether we enjoyed the food, we struggle to muster any enthusiasm and at roughly $2,800HKD after 10% service charge I can't help but wish we had gone elsewhere to get better food and just visited some sort of observation deck instead.
