Their popularity was at an all-time high just before the pandemic and has remained one of Sai Wan's most frequent local eateries. To no one's surprise, the seating and layout are not group friendly and it can be very cramped. Sharing tables is a big possibility, and I'd come here with no more than 3-4 folks. Waiting is a common past time here, so try to aim for a pre-noon arrival. Their stuffed toasts are legendary and are indeed the real deal. The salted egg yolk toast is fun to eat and film, but the taro custard (香芋流沙西多士) is next level good. The lava that flows from within makes this the ultimate dessert item, and should be on everyone's table. Their XO stir fried radish cubes (XO醬炒蘿蔔糕), along with the XO fried rice rolls (XO醬炒腸粉) are two of my favorite items. The dim sum items are fairly standard (especially the shrimp dumplings), but the shrimp stuffed rice rolls are very good. The shrimp toast is not my usual kind of order, but this place definitely specializes in it. The service is warm and very quick with everything: taking orders, bringing food, and getting the check. Prices are not back breaking but it's a little more expensive than other comparable places. Cash is king.

The owners aren't outright friendly, but are certainly warmer than your average cha chaan teng waiter in Hong Kong. The sesame shrimp toast is more delicious than it has any right to be - crisp exterior studded with toasted white sesame, these triangles give way to plump shrimp meat in the middle, and a cute little dish of Kewpie mayonnaise on the side. The signature egg yolk is fun to cut into - giving you some real insta-worthy yolk porn, but is definitely heavy, so consider sharing. But for me, what won my heart was a delicious take on a childhood favorite - radish cakes: Chau Kee's versions are cut up and fried, so that the crisp fry-exterior gives way to a tacky and soft interior. Flavors of shrimp and seafood are present from the XO sauce. The menu is in both Chinese and English and full of pictures, so it's also gweilo-friendly!

Shunde is the best cuisine among all the other types of Cantonese food . Best of the best . That was why we much come here for dinner . I have been to this restaurant a few times over the years . One time we had table of 10 so we could order many different dishes . Tonight we were table of two . We still managed to finish 5 dishes , one bowl of rice and a large beer ! The inside ambience was great . Very classic and authentic. Even on a random Thursday night . It was pretty full . We went in early like 6 pm . So table was easy to get . The restaurant was located on second floor from the street level . You had to walk up three to four stairs .... Steep and 45 degree up . It could be a challenge for seniors and some people. There was a lift next door and could go up to second door and you could enter Fung Shing by the kitchen area ( back door ) . Fung Shing means Golden Phenix . The menu cover is golden and the restaurant has many wall decorations that share the glory and blessing of the Golden Phenix. Menu on the table are all in Chinese . I am sure they have an English menu because I saw Western customers . Food have been amazing . There are a few different Golden Phenix restaurants in Hong Kong but the staff lady told me that they were individually own . This one in North point is the the best and it had won many food awards. Chef's skills is amazing . We ordered the small plate of crispy skin sucking pig . 5/5 $105 HK Steamed minced pork with wild squid . $148 HK . Tasty and the pork was manually chopped and messaged to the desired texture. It was tasty and not salty . 5/5 Garlic stirred fried vegetables $80 for all except $108 for pea sprouts. We had the choy sum for $80 HK . Fresh and delicious. All the vegetables taste more tasty , fresh and sweet in HK . Service was excellent. 5/5 Steamed live grouper ( medium price for $380 HK ) . 2.5 pounds . We have not have a steamed live grouper for years ! It tasted phenomenal. Just cooked and not over cooked . The fish soy sauce is tasty but not over powered the fresh taste of the live fish . Again , their sauces are tasty and not salty . All the food was amazing . We planned to come back and order dishes each time we visited . 5/5 Star restaurant. One of their best dishes is a stuffed with 8 treasures duck ( needed to be pre ordered and it Coates $680 ) I had it once with table of ten ! One dollar in US money equal to $7.8 dollars in Hong Kong money . All dishes look amazing!

Solid dim sum in a crowded market. One of the few nicer ones with carts, which, if your friends…read morelike carts, is a plus. Definitely nice to get a few items not common in the states, such as duck feet with pomelo, and for the non-Chinese-speakers, the carts are all labeled in both Chinese and English (brilliant!). And the shu mai are tight little bundles, elegantly done with a shrimp curled on top-- again nothing crazy by Hong Kong standards, but still elegant enough to warranty praise. The pain is the price. As a higher-end place, well, it's not cheap. It's not priced too badly, but then, it doesn't compete with the very best either. And one slight weakness-- the char shu in the char shu cheung were overcooked. 3.5 stars, but I'll round up.

While there are probably…read moreless than a dozen decent dim sum restaurants in the entire West Coast of North America (including Vancouver), there are literally numerous top-notch players in HK. So one might ask - what's the difference? -- Quality instead of quantity. Refinedness over size. That means that the tiny bite-size siu mai's are of supreme quality - perfect texture and very rich in flavor. -- Creativity. I'm quite sure that most dim sum lovers would have had a version of stuffed peppers somewhere. But how about a dish (or pan) of freshly pan-fried stuffed peppers and eggplants served - you guessed it - in the pan! Absolute yumminess can somehow indeed be found. (See picture) -- More Creativity. How about some fried bean curb rolls with baked lobster broth? (See picture). Bean curb rolls are a very common dim sum dish. But wait! Deep fry these super yummy rolls and serve them with a bowl of baked lobster broth with a flaky crust? Just in case you don't know how you're supposed to eat these (LOL) - Take a piece of the roll and dip it into the lobster broth, let it soak for a few second, then put it in your mouth and at the same time contemplate how far you are away from dim sum heaven. -- A rare gem perfectly made. Trying to find a quail's egg in the US in not that hard. But trying to find a quail's egg siu mai in the US is close to impossible Especially a really good one. (See picture) For a brief moment I thought I was in heaven. But of course, I quickly realized that I'm just in Hong Kong. AKA Dim Sum Heaven. 6 stars by US standard, 4.5 stars by Hong Kong standard. But until Yelp has a half-star rating system, I'll just be nice and call it 5 stars!
