While the bus is cheaper and good for people who are afraid of heights, it takes much longer, about 50 to 60 minutes. The mountain roads are also very winding, which can make some people feel dizzy. My husband and I rode the Crystal Cabin to see the Big Buddha on our last trip. Since it was our daughters' first time in Hong Kong, we really wanted them to try it, too. They do have regular cabins without clear floors, but none of us are scared of heights, so we happily chose the glass-bottom one. We bought our tickets early on Klook. It was much cheaper than buying them at the gate. We also chose to visit on a weekday, which was a great choice because it was not crowded at all. I still remember our last visit ten years ago was super packed, and people had to wait in huge lines just to get on. The cable car ride takes about 25 minutes each way. We only bought a one-way ticket this time because we wanted to visit Tai O Fishing Village afterward. It was a fun, smooth, and beautiful 25-minute ride. We loved looking down at the green hills, seeing waterfalls, and watching the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery come into view. Surprisingly, it was not hot at all, and it felt pretty cool up there on the mountain. It was truly amazing!

No where will you get a full view of the Hong Kong airport (unless you decide to climb up a mountain). This is my second time visiting and still very memorable and worthwhile. We got there around 10am on a Saturday and purchased tickets at the gate and didn't have a wait. Weekend tickets are more expensive, but we didn't have a choice with our schedule. I opted for the crystal glass cabin which I highly recommend for that full 360 degrees experience. The cabin has a clear glass bottom. The line for the crystal glass cabin is significantly shorter than the standard one too so avoiding the wait alone is worth it. Each one way ride is actually longer than I thought it would be so well worth the price. There's of course the giant Buddha to see at the top. There's also a few hiking trails. There are a lot of restaurant options at the top, but I suggest having lunch at their vegetarian cafe by the monastery- it's unique and delicious .

As far as cost goes, the price is reasonable, but they did try to sell the upgraded crystal (glass floor) car. I'm terrified of heights, so you couldn't even pay me to do that! The regular cable car was great though, I could look down or close my eyes if it was too much, panic attacks completely avoided. Even though the wait was long, it was worth it! The cable car ride goes over the water, then up the mountain giving beautiful views of the island. As it goes closer to the top, you can see the Big Buddha. Visiting the Big Buddha and the Po Lin monastery was one of the highlights of my trip.

We had purchased the tickets online which were cheaper than at the gate. The check it was smooth and quick. We were there with 10/15 minutes of opening and the line was very short. The cable takes a 90 degree at one point and that is incredible as well. One can see the entire HKG airport, the bridge road to Macao, the portion that goes under the sea is also seen. The view of the mountains is amazing and we also saw a few people hiking up. Once up lots of things to do. On our way back, the line up was even shorter and we were down in no time. On visit the two monasteries and of course the Buddha statue. Even though we are so up, we didn't find it cool. There are quite a few restaurants that you can visit or you can visit the monastery vegetarian canteen/restaurant that is very vegan friendly.
