The Hong Kong to Macau Ferry Terminal was clean and air-conditioned! We just followed our friend, Andrew, who knew exactly what to do and where to go. Our bags didn't need to be scanned, but we did need to show our passports at the Immigration Station. We gave our tickets to Andrew so that he could check us in as a group and get seats together... very smart! The kupuna got seats at the Gate while we waited to board the ferry. The restroom was nearby. We boarding about 12 minutes before our departure time. Staff showed us the correct aisle for our seats. We buckled in and had a quick, smooth ride!

Macau I go... The suggestion a trip to Macau was something I couldn't resist and I couldn't tell you the process since I was so lucky to have a friend who knew a local that took care of it all for us was a huge help in every way as he navigated us to the ticket counter and down to the dock was very smooth. The building and facilities may be a bit dated though clean and organized with signs to help you through it also has restrooms with everything you need is very much appreciated. Having these convenience makes your journey pleasant and fun to enjoy as I'm on my way to Macau on this trip of a lifetime that I'm having so much fun. Thank you!

2024: I had a great adventure enjoying my wild hair experience cruising through Mongkok, Kowloon, and Hong Kong . . . Now, I wanted visiting somewhere more relaxing--less hustle and bustle. Anyway, I road the Hong Kong MRT from Mongkok, Kowloon because I stayed at the Dragon Hostel, disembarked the MRT playing offensive linebacker through the throngs of a gazzilion peeps then, I began transitioning from the MRT entering the Ferry Terminal. Amusingly funny, the people were hustling and bustling through the Terminal--where is everybody going in such a mad rush???!! Aside, I didn't know how I would arrive in Macau--I heard you may fly or ride the ferry which I decided immediately opting riding the ferry instead due to flying would mean hassling with TSA Agents, i.e., a flat out, indignant, "NO," blared in my thought process making my decision. In addition, I didn't know where I would stay in Macau; however, I always wanted visiting Macau and not having a place staying never deterred my "Indiana Jones" Explorer instincts. Nonetheless, I'm always up for an adventure! While walking from the Ferry Terminal entrance, I noticed via the LEFT SIDE of the people walking who were briskly passing me on the right, there was a huge sign with an arrow pointing to a Travel Agency. Naturally, I gravitated towards the sign entering via the left side door, excited meeting a Travel Agent. Happily, the Travel Agent spoke English fluently: I began expounding to the Travel Agent I'd like a cool place nearby everything, i.e., I didn't have time renting a car nor did I purchase foreign, car insurance, I wanted riding the bus everywhere in order, sightseeing, I'd like a hotel close by where I may buy groceries or visiting a restaurant would be exceptionally ideal. To my utter surprise, the Travel Agent booked my ferry ride AND my Macau Hotel Reservation in TWO MINUTES FLAT!!!! WHOA~The Travel Agent expediently gave me a map of Macau, what bus I must ride in order, arriving at the hotel, directions where I'll be staying, bus routes of places worth visiting, restaurants nearby the hotel--EVERYTHING!!! BTW: The Hong Kong Island Ferry Terminal Travel Agent booked my hotel reservation staying at the East Asia Hotel . . . East Asia Hotel's Address: 1 Rua da Madeira, Macau City, Macau Macau SAR, China, 999078 Apparently, the Travel Agent works in conjunction with the Hong Kong Island Ferry Terminal Services which was absolutely awesome and hassle-free. Finally, I arrived at Macau Turbo Jet Ferry Service then, proceeded checking with the Fast Macau Turbo Jet Reservationist: The Reservationist began scrutinizing my US Passport, scoured my facial features, inquiring why I want visiting Macau which I replied, "I want exploring Macau's beautiful scenery," the Reservationist smiled, stamped my Passport, gave me my ticket boarding pass, and I quickly embarked the cool ferry. Oh, one more tidbit I must expound: The Macau Ferry FLEW gliding across the ocean; no bumpy rides R/T! Now, I'm heading towards Macau . . . See ya later on the return to Kowloon later!!!

Efficient, clean, and well laid out, the HK Macau Ferry Terminal is easy to navigate and makes taking the HK-MO jet ferries easy. Connected to the Sheung Wan MTR station, all you need to do is get to the MTR station, head up a couple floors and follow the signs for ferry boarding. Along the way, there will be many places to eat and shop before boarding. You will need to pass through customs/immigration before boarding the ferry on HK side and on the Macau side before leaving their ferry terminal. It's easy and only takes a couple minutes but be sure to factor that time in.

This is the Terminal to get a Ferry to Macau. This is accessible by public transportation such as tram, bus, taxi, and MTR. For me, taking the MTR is the best way to get here. Take the MTR Island Line and get off at Sheung Wan then find the exit to Shuntak Centre. Arrows and signs will guide you. Ticketing office and loading is at the Shuntak Centre. Departure time starts at 7:30am and ends at 10:30pm Duration of the trip is an hour. Ticket fares: Economy Class Seat: HKD 175 ($23 USD) for Day Sailing (Weekdays) HKD 190 ($25 USD) for Day Sailing (Weekends & Holidays) HKD 220 ($28 USD) for Night Sailing (Weekdays, Weekends & Holidays) Super Class Seat: HKD 365 ($46 USD) for Day Sailing (Weekdays) HKD 395 ($50 USD) for Day Sailing (Weekends & Holidays) HKD 415 ($53 USD) for Night Sailing (Weekdays, Weekends & Holidays)

We came to HK for a few days and today we felt like we wanted to go to Macao. We rode the underground train to ferry station and bought ferry tickets at the counter. It's very smooth and fast. The ferry is very stable. It took us an hour to get here. Customer service is great. :)

Quick and comfortable transportation from Hong Kong (Sheung Wan area) to Macau (Taipa area). They have both a Super Class (cost of 346 to 391 HK dollars roundtrip) and an Economy Class (171 to 211 HK dollars). The cost varies depending on the time of day and if you are going weekdays or weekends. They also have a Premier VIP Cabin that is even more expensive. We went Economy Class which was perfectly fine. The trip itself is only about one hour anyway, so I see no reason to opt for the more expensive seats. The boat leaves every 15 minutes except late at nights, which makes it super convenient.

The ferry ride from Hong Kong to Macau is the easiest way to travel between the two countries. It is better if you book online to reserve your tickets even though the ferry transports every 15 mins or so. Each time the ferry was sold out and completely full. Make sure to take your tickets to the front so they can assign you a seat with a sticker. The place was crowded. All the seating is like airline seating as each seat is assigned. The ferry ride takes about an hour to make the journey. I seen several people bring their own food and drinks on the ferry so that's probably recommended. I believe they do sell snacks too. The seats were comfortable but a little outdated. Prices were: HKG-MAC $177 and MAC-HKG $189 for a Saturday trip. Make sure you don't forget your passport as it's needed. You'll also need to fill out an 'arrival form'. You will also need to pass thru customs upon arrival. There are many free buses that will take you to their respective casinos. Just take the underground walkway to the other side of the street for the buses. There are many people trying to sell you tours of Macau. Located in the Shun Tak shopping center. Pick up your tickets to the right of the ferry entry. There are places to pick up food there before boarding the ferry.

Have you ever experienced the mad dash at NY Penn Station? Yes? Then you will be fine... No? Well... you best be prepared for chaos!!! Find your way to the ticketing agents to buy tickets - OR buy them in advance!! Highly recommended! Make sure you find the right "gate" and "ferry carrier" - they have multiple operations. Make sure you get your seat assignments!!! Otherwise you can't get on the ferry. It really is like a giant mess in this location (compared to the TST ferry terminal). I felt the congestion and sheared anxiety with the amount of people waiting and trying to figure out where to go. The facilities is not as clean as anything I've seen in HK. So be warned! My best advice: -Buy tickets in advance (highly recommended if you're planning to visit Macau as a "Day Trip" - Don't get stranded!) -Stay close to your group - watch for signs and ask the ticketing peeps in uniform (bc there are major gamblers who looks like they were ready to run you over!) -Splurge for the VIP room if you have a group of 8! You get the whole room to yourself and a lunch box! -Bring TISSUES!!! Wet Wipes!! -Bring Advil or Dramamine or something - cuz it's rocky AF! Ugh... Good luck Yelpers!

Extremely crowded, chaotic, but it serves its purpose. The ferry we took was to Zhongshan. There were hundreds of people rushing and pushing to get on, but I suppose that is par for the course. Thank goodness for assigned seating (then why was it necessary to push so much?) The ride was about one and a half hours and we arrived Zhongshan on time although we were delayed in the beginning. The return journey was obnoxious. Everyone was waiting to board when seven people emerged from behind the gate to announce there would be a delay of one hour. There was limited seating in the waiting area so everyone had to stand in line with their luggage. Then someone noticed the seven people eating in the restaurant so we weren't sure if the delay was to service their dinner needs (or not). It was overall unpleasant and I do not intend to return.

The set up of Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal makes travelling between Macau and Hong Kong an enjoyable experience. Connected directly to MTR Station. There are also plenty of buses, taxi and mini vans if you do prefer other forms of transportation. I never travel during high season or peak hours so there was never line up for anything even passing through Immigration was so fast and efficient. Maybe one day I can try the Helicopter ride from here to Macau!

However, my hubby suggested taking the Star Ferry instead since it was during rush hour and the MTR would probably be very crowded. I'm so glad we took his advice! The ferry ride was relaxing, and we got to enjoy the beautiful views of Victoria Harbour along the way. It was a refreshing break from the busy city and one of the highlights of our trip. The ride took only about 8-10 minutes and cost just a few Hong Kong dollars, making it an affordable and memorable experience. The ferry operates daily from around 7:20 AM to 11:00 PM, so it's a convenient option for getting between Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai or you can take the Star Ferry from Wan Chai to Tsim Sha Tsui. If you're visiting Hong Kong, I highly recommend taking the Star Ferry at least once. It's not just transportation, it's also a scenic experience so that's definitely worth it.

We walked over, used our Octopus card to pay, and boarded the Lower Level of the Star Ferry. (The upper level costs a bit more for a slightly better view.) Wooden seats are First Come, First Served. There are no assigned seats. The way the seats face can change by flipping the row of seat backs! Note: We left Kowloon to tour Hong Kong Island on 10.13.24, Sunday, because there was a large marathon or bike race which blocked many roads. Thanks to great planning by Andrew!

From the experience that my friends and I went though, paying a bit extra for first class was worth it. Originally, all of us had planned on going to Macau on the cheapest route (via economy class), but on the day of, most of the seats had been sold out and only first class was available. Furthermore, the time selection was quite limited with other economy seats, so boom, first class we went. Prior to boarding, you would first secure your ticket, go through security / customs check and then wait in the boarding area. Do keep in mind that the queue does grow long quite fast and there will be people with luggage. My suggestion is to wear comfy footwear and no heels / flip flops due to the highly probable chance that your feet will get rolled over by the rolling suitcases. Boarding itself was quite troublesome. Not only do you have to fight through the crowd to get on the ferry, but you will have to endure some minor elbowing and pushing as people rushed through. Once you get to the ferry, economy class will be seated on the bottom deck while first class get seated at the upper deck. If you're in a group, make sure to indicate that when purchasing your ticket so that you and your group can be seated relatively close together. For first class perks, you do get complimentary beverages and a cute box full of small snacks. Seats are super comfortable and the ride itself was super smooth. If you like taking pictures, there are windows everywhere in the upper deck, so snap away those pics at your heart's content. Plus, the atmosphere was quite relaxing and quiet, so taking a one hour nap is a pretty idea too. Upon departure, first class does have priority in leaving first which proved to be a plus for my friends and I because we did beat the crowd in reaching the customs area. Overall, I highly recommend going first class for a ferry ride to Macau if you can afford it / cost doesn't matter much. Hassle free and the flexibility in time is a major plus, especially when you're purchasing the tickets the day of.

Which it is, but we really had a great experience of taking the Aqua Luna red junk boat from Central to Stanley on a Sunday at noon. My husband and I thought we might go over to Stanley to bump around on a Sunday as a simple summer thing to do and spend the day. We were inclined to take a cab, because we do not like lines with the bus situation. I took a peak on line to see if there was a water option on getting from Central to Stanley and Aqua Luna was the main thing that kept popping up. I am sure that there might be one or two others, for in Stanley, we saw people waiting on the docks, but based on my search on-line, there are not many options Aqua Luna offers evening harbor cruises, a Hong Kong harbour discovery tour and Stanley weekend cruises. We took the Stanley weekend cruise that departs from Central at noon every Saturday and Sunday (these are the only two options at all during a week). If you get to Central and get to the Central Piers, go to Pier 9 and you will find a Aqua Luna rep and at one of the docks down the pier a bit. Although it appeared to highly encourage an on-line booking, we simply showed up about 20 minutes early, checked in with the rep, they had space for us that day, queued up in line and we were good to go. Queuing up early is key if you wish to sit or rather lounge on the rattan couches on the open air upper floor and/or have interest in your seat selection (I believe the lower deck in fully enclosed and air conditioned, not certain though because I never went down there). Once the boat leaves the dock, the staff walk around and gather payment, which we paid by cash. We bought a one way ticket, with the intention of taking a cab back, and it cost $250HKD for one person and includes a drink. Also, know that once the boat leaves from Central Pier 9, it travels across the harbour to Tsim Sha Tsui Piblic Pier 1 for pick up those passengers at that Aqua Luna departure point before it departs for Stanley. So if you board from Tsim Sha Tsui, you get second pics on seating (because all the people from Central Pier boarded before you) and guaranteed to most likely not sit up top. It was a beautiful day, although hot. Once the boat gets going, there is a natural breeze that cools things down a bit. We were in shorts and t-shirts, which was the way to go with the heat on the boat ride. The rattan open air top level was so comfortable, relaxing and cozy as we kicked our shoes off, curled up and enjoyed our beer (juices, beer, wine, water are beverage options). The views and seeing the surrounding islands on this 90 minute voyage really is a great way to experience Hong Kong away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. We were most impressed by the staff who were all welcoming, kind, smiling, appreciative, attentive and focused on the safety of passengers at all moments, from each person who boarded the step to safely get on the boat to each person walking up and down the staircase during the trip when waters were choppy or people's sea legs were not properly underneath them. What a great experience! We would highly recommend Aqua Luna and the mysterious red junk to anyone interested in seeing Hong Kong from a different vantage point.

And it seems to be there are a lot more visitor going in for a day trip, even just for food. This is exactly what I did today with my family, just to go in for few hours and non stop eating for few hours. This ferry is the only way to get in cheung chau. A pretty straight forward public transportation. At the pier there are a lot of different ferry at different pier. There are a lot more island than I thought you can get to in hk. To go to cheung chau, the ferry is located at pier 5. They have 2 type of ferry. Fast ferry and the regular ferry. The fast ferry takes about 30 min, whereas the regular ferry takes 1 hour and has 2 different class, one with AC and on the lower deck without. It really depends how you like to explore and how leisure you like to spend your day. I actually don't mind riding a slower open air ferry to enjoy the ferry ride. But you may smell a bit of the diesel fuel since the lower deck is closer to the engine. And it seems to get hot in the summer. For the speed ferry, all seats are in the AC area. So you only get to sit indoor without a real glimpse of an ocean journey. When sometimes the ocean may get choppy, the fast ferry may cause some motion sickness. But you can always choose a seat back of the ferry in the middle section to be less impacted. There are restroom on the ferry, so you don't have to use the one at the pier , since there is only 1 at the pier, the wait gets pretty long. The ferry is decently clean and efficient. And pretty cheap to get a ride in. I will always recommend any visitor to stop by cheung chau for seafood during their visit in HK. Great seafood, less crowded, easy hike in and still share the unique cultural experience of HK - the fisherman's life that where the native Hong Kong resident had.
