As an avid sporting participant I do find the need to want to improve my performance from time to time, especially when my team loses! I've studied sport science in university so I know the science behind improvement - or at least I think I know. The intake of the right nutrients plays a huge role in building muscle/losing fat/maintaining energy, which brings me onto Nature's Village.
Nature's Village is a small store in Causeway Bay (I later found out they have a few more lurking around Hong Kong - check their website for details). It's filled from floor to ceiling with big protein tubs, energy bars, gels, and that sort of thing. As I've come to expect from all the other nutrient shops around the city the prices are somewhat higher than they should be. But because every other shop has those prices I suppose there's not much to complain about, after all I'm not going to ship something in from Australia - I'm not that into it!
Anyway, they have a good selection of low fat, low carb, high protein shakes which I'm after (Promote muscle growth that I'm sorely lacking at this moment). They even have a brand that I do not see so often, Carnivore. The name alone lets you know it's probably dangerous... which makes it even better. I browse through the shop and I'm pleasantly surprised to see a mixture of other items, natural ones that often are forgotten about - apple cider vinegar and coconut oil, two very healthy ingredients. They also have a small selection of gym gloves but at $260 a pair I left them where they lay.
By the time I left the place I had a tub of Carnivor under one arm and some apple cider vinegar in the other. Time to gain muscle and maintain a good internal pH level, next time we meet you will not recognize me! (Which may have less to do with me looking different than anything else.) read more
