Fantastic organic grocery store in Central. It's where I get most of my organic goods aside from…read morefresh veg. They've got almost everything I could want, from cereals to sweets to frozen dinners, bread, vitamins, supplements, and bath, body care products. There's even a rewards card program you can join if you're a frequent shopper. And those rewards add up fast! Sort of don't want to share this tip, but I will for lovely Yelpers! Here it is: if you come at the end of the evening, they often have some excellent markdowns on the shelves and in a tote by the counter. As in lactose free soy yogurt pots that were $56 for $16, or granola bars that were $25 for $14. I once bought a bag of organic basmati rice that was a few days from expiring (but it's rice for flake's sake!) for 1/5th the original price. I'm in the store almost once a week so maybe we'll see each other!

Just Green has a few other locations throughout Hong Kong, but this newer location in Central opened just 2 weeks ago. They have everything you'd want from a natural/organic market, except for fresh fruits/vegetables (although they do stock fresh kale from Green Vitamin). I love that they stock pretty much the full gamut of Green Vitamin's products (See www.greenvitamin.hk), which is the main selling point for me. That, and the wide range of flavors of Happy Cow ice cream, which they even sell in mini-cup size! (For those who don't know, Happy Cow is made with coconut sugar instead of cane sugar and therefore has a lower glycemic index, but is just as tasty.) The location is a bit tricky to find (it's on the first floor above Christian Louboutin on Wyndham Street), but once you've found it, you'll be glad that you did (although your pocketbook may not be as happy).

Sort of hidden in the back end of the Olympian shopping complex, they do stock in my opinion the best selection of certified organic fruit and veggies. Dry goods are also on offer and these are great to grab as snacks for home or on the run. Kevin,Ivan (whom I believe are the owner/operators) and their team are always eager to offer assistance and recommendations on the different items they stock. They're extremely knowledgeable and passionate which is what you want when you're shopping for what most people will consider "speciality" items. They know details of the certification levels and only stock quality in their shop. Frozen Organic meats, frozen sustainable wild caught seafood, fresh organic fruit and veggies (not just the boring veggies - they have that and a ton of things I've never seen before but taste amazing - Kevin will even suggest how to prepare/cook them), organic raw cultured butter and cheese, the most amazing organic dates in from Iran!! I'll stop now as I could rattle off soooo many things I am loving from these guys. They've got tons for the Paleo conscious and the gluten free crew...I don't really care (or agree for that matter) for the vegan lifestyle but I'm sure a the most picky vegan would be happy with the offerings on offer too. These guys have hunted and gathered from just about every corner of the world it seems!! The variety will surprise you - the freshness is always present - the prices are very reasonable and most of all they care about the lifestyle they actively promote in their selection of products in store. Great to have you in the hood guys!! Here's to more clean and healthy living thanks to your store!!

REVIEWER # 2 Hong…read moreKong Farmers Markets have a great variety of vegetables and fruit! I am happy to say that I was able to witness that as I was here for my vacation. During my visit in Hong Kong I found this as I was going to Tai Cheong Bakery. The Farmers Market conveniently runs through a long street from Des Veoux Road and Graham Street and is located in the center of the walkway that connects the ferry pier and the footbridge that leads to Central. The market is small compared to other markets I have seen however the amount of veggies and fruit still makes this a place to not pass up! The vendors they are pretty nice and friendly. The variety of meat that they serve is absolutely amazing. I came on a Tuesday around noon and they still had a great selection of fruits vegetables and other things as well. They also have a market called Man Kee Shing Pork Chops that you can also buy live fresh fish and many different varieties of the meat as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. On Sundays they are organized by KFBG from 11AM-5PM and Wednesdays they are organized by SEEDS from 12PM-6PM. I came on a Tuesday where they were opened from 11AM-5PM. If you are ever in the area on a Tuesday afternoon I definitely recommend this place for you to try. Contact Info: seed@seed.org.hk / info@kfbg.org REVIEW 197/196

I knew the Farmers Market was going on when I walked past the Pier on my way to Lamma, and I knew I wasn't coming back on time to buy my veggies that day. I also knew I was coming back just to do exactly that the following Sunday morning. The market is a small one, where farmers offer their produce at large tables, placed in a square shaped area. The produce is seasonal so you'll find different veggies from time to time. Some of what they sell: leafy greens, okra, cucumber, beets, bitter gourd...Most of the farmers will expect you to ask them questions and it's a great place to learn about what you eat: there are no intermediaries so prices are fair, and affordable. The Wednesday one, which is a bit smaller than Sunday's, is organized by SEED, a foundation that promotes 'sustainable lifestyle' and has helped local farmers with the marketing of their produce. They even advertise and promote its farmers on their website so that you can get to know them beforehand. They would expect you to bring your own bag and it is also advisable to get there early, for fresher, greater variety. Do you have plans this weekend? I do...you'll find me at the Central Farmers Market on Sunday morning!
