Normally, I would not review a Starbucks. Like other reviewers here, I need to say that first. But, this old-fashioned Hong Kong Bing Sutt Starbucks is a different story. The Duddell St. interior matches its surroundings and is such a refreshing change from the International sameness of a normal Starbucks that it deserves praise.
I'm sure the people at Starbucks knew that people like me who are ordinarily no big Starbucks fans would responded this way, and that's why it works. It lives up to our non-expectations for Starbucks, and surpasses them with the cool peek into Hong Kong history. The soy chai latte in a "for-here" china cup was especially delicious sitting at the old formica table, admiring my surroundings. Pretty good location too if you're out and about in Central and need a place to rest for a bit, or a caffeine break. read more
