Being an avid hotpotter- this was probably the place that got my start on my never ending quest for hot pots. New Star had long been in the business of offering really cheap all you can eat hotpots; this stemmed from the days when the economy was really down in duldrums and nobody was coming out for dinner. Back in the day it really was possible to find 100 HKD per head all you can eat and drink (beer included) and as a university student that was just too good to be missed.
Food wse there was always a huge list to choose from and to be honest I can't say that i have tried everything on there even though I had been back on repeated occasions. The second thing was the beer- given the free drinks it really was verging on unreal. Yes, they served you the lesser imitation of coke and the beers were always the really cheap ones- but once again for the price you really can' complain. Even if the food was all heaped into one big bowl you stil felt that was alright.
However, as you get older and your apetite gets ever smaller, you start to crave quality over quantity and the fact that you have to drink cheap coke and beer is becoming something you don't like. Thats when you know you have come a long way from you uni days and this place just doesn't belong to you anymore. read more
