Service (4/5): Not the friendliest service but food came out fast and efficiently. Ambiance (3/5): A bit of a cramped shop but looks like an authentic restaurant. This time it was hot, humid, and rainy around 11:20 am and our party of 4 was able to get a table easily though it was crowded again once we were finished. This place is so famous we saw people come straight from the airport with all their luggage! Portions are very good and probably too small for most people but I loved the size. Goose and Soy Sauce Chicken: They are most known for their roast goose which has a complex and layered seasoning different than other HK roast duck/goose places. This is my go to dish, this time it tasted great but my portion of goose was super small and I split it with a friend to not get too full so it was even smaller. We also ordered the same dish with noodles and roast pork with soy chicken, both the people who had this never had Yat Lok before and totally cleared their plates, don't forget to mix each bite with some of the oil scorched green onions!

This is a must go in Yuen Long. I stumbled upon this place on a Sunday afternoon and saw a long…read moreline in front of this Lou Mei speciality shop. My curiosity stroked and decided to check this place out. For those who doesn't know what Lou Mei is, it is the Cantonese name given to dishes made by simmering in a sauce known as a master stock or brown sauce (鹵水, 滷汁). It is part of teochew cuisine and can be made from meat or internal organs. How to order: As you are waiting in line, a guy will come up to you and take the order and you just pay the cashier when your order is ready. They sell by catty (斤) or tael (兩) so you need to know exactly how much you want. Food: I ordered the following items: 1. Cuttlefish 2. Tofu 3. Duck wings 4. Duck feet 5. Sliced duck 6. Gizzards Everything tasted amazing and you know it's good when my 83 year old grandma gave the approval nod. She is extremely critical when it comes to food and gave 9 stars out of 10 and praised how flavorful the seasoning and Lou Mei sauce was. The essence of making good Lou Mei is the sauce and the timing cuz everything is simmered in that sauce. Check it out if you are in the area next time. You won't be disappointed.

If you are a big fan of Lo Mei you have came to the right place. Legend has it that in order to…read moremake good Lo Mei the base has to be reuse time and time again for decades, so good Lo Mei shops often have their bases handed down from grandparents. I can truly understand that because the base is where all the flavor is and the more meats that are marinated and cooked in them the more flavorful it will be. I don't know how old is the marinate base here in this place but I am sure it isn't young. Because the meat stuff they sell is out of this world, at least I haven't had anything better yet in this city. And the line in front of the store can explain that. They only do what they are good at and nothing else. And carry out only.

This is a super local, old-school chiu chow place that has been in sheung shui for years. I came…read morehere for dinner with my family and relatives, total = 14 people. They set up an extra large table for us upstairs. Let's talk food first. Crispy pork - Amazing! The skin was super crispy, and the meat and fat layering was perfect. Not too fatty, meat was tender. Fried fish - The right amount of spicy kick. It was so perfectly deep fried, you can even eat the bones within. My uncle said it takes great skill to deep fry this fish perfectly. Tofu Casserole - I think this was standard, as expected from this dish. Pig Big Intestine - Personally, I am not into the texture and taste of pig intestine. But my relatives devoured this dish. Oyster pancake - Fried perfectly golden. Slightly crispy. Choy - I actually really liked this choy. The texture was different from what I've had before. And it tasted fresh. Eggplant Casserole - You can certainly taste the salted fish. We liked that the eggplant was NOT deep fried like the way some other places do it. Stuffed Deep Fish (filled with fish dace) - My mom and I think this is ok la, average. The fish meat wasn't the best. Fried Clams - I liked it, but my mom thought it was average, a bit spicy for her taste. Fish Head Casserole - It came with crispy pork chunks, which wasn't really crispy anymore because it was cooked in the casserole. My uncle finished the whole thing. Fried morning glory - delish, great dish to get your greens. All of the food + 2 beers + about 10 cans of pop + 4 rice + 6 congee = $1075 HKD for 14 people. Service was good on the Thursday night. Let's talk washroom. Not acceptable. I held it. You have to go in the alley way, into the back, and the toilets are the floor toilets style. Be aware.
