When you look at them, they look like the portuguese egg tarts, but they are actually the regular ones but using pure egg whites. The custard is slightly burnt on top giving a slight caramelization. The tart itself is the tart tart and not the crumbly kind.. mmm my favorite. They also have the taro ice cream which I think was pretty cool but can't comment too much on it because I didn't actually get to try it. They have many other treats so if you come walking by and feeling a little snackish, drop in and get something!

Staying at the Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui we had countless restaurants and bakeries but none that had the custard we so craved. So looking at pictures from yelp I only found one that had what I was looking for with 5 stars. The only caveat was it was about a 18 min walk. Luckily my family does not mind traveling in search for good food. The funny thing is it's called San Francisco Cake Shop. It's so ironic. The shop is surrounded by bakeries and this is a small mom and pop store. The lady was so nice. We were so happy to see they indeed had exactly the egg custard we wanted. We bought a dozen of them plus their baked bbq pork bun, raisin twist, butterfly cookie, and the bun with coconut filling. It was only $74 HK. So cheap. After we paid and bit into the huge bbq pork bun, we were in heaven. The bun was so hot, soft and delicious. My husband ended up going back inside to buy 2 more. We didn't get a chance to eat the custard until we got back to the hotel. The first bite both my daughter and I were in amazement. It was so yummy. The crust was flaky and delicate and the egg was simply delicious with the perfect flavor. I highly recommend this bakery. You will not be sorry

After having dinner, we made our way back to our hotel and walking along one of the main streets of Electric Road, my cousin spots this tofu pudding shop. We're quite full from dinner and needed a stroll to help settle all of the food we just ate. But that doesn't stop him. He looks at the sign from HK$10 (US$1.28) for a bowl of tofu pudding (hot or cold) with either ginger syrup or simple sugar. He downs a bowl at ease and tells us how good it is. For me, I really wanted to try it but was still full from dinner. Luckily, I can read some Chinese and immediately saw the sign "For takeout, add another HK$1 (or US 12 cents)." So, I tell the staff I'll take one for the road. This little shop is just across the street from the hotel I stayed at so I could easily come back but decided to just eat it in the hotel room later. I noticed a few stools for dine in patrons. Seemed somewhat cramped but this type of food is meant for quick consumption. It's a quick eat and run so the turnover should be high. There are quite a few options to enhance your tofu pudding experience. First of all, you can have it served hot or cold. In addition to the simple sugar and ginger syrup, they also have red beans, mung green beans, black sesame, almond or coconut milk and tapioca options. They also offer soybean milk, which is a very popular drink in Hong Kong. Service was above average. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. Overall, a great find during our stroll after dinner. A bowl of chilled tofu pudding would help combat Hong Kong's muggy weather. This is a great snack or dessert that doesn't make a dent your wallet.

You have a choice between various toppings, starting at a very affordable HK$10 for your traditional tofu with yellow sugar, and tofu with ginger soup. Then HK$13 for your next range of tofu with choice of evaporated milk, red bean, barley, sesame (芝麻) and almond (杏仁). I ordered the tofu with sesame (芝麻豆花) served cold and it was just PERFECT. So what makes this Bakery so special? We went an hour before closing, but they were still making the tarts fresh. We ordered 10 tarts, 8 regular egg tarts, 2 caramel custard and 2 bacon mushroom pies. The secret lies within their ultra buttery and flaky crust. It is lightly sweet and since they just came out from the oven, they were warm and the light sweetness of the crust jumps out at you. It is so different from the egg tarts that have crusts made with lard or shortening. The custard is lightly sweet and very delicate. The bacon and mushroom pie was also very good and filled with thick cut Smokey sweet bacon and mushrooms. I would buy both egg tarts and savory pies again in a heartbeat. Everything is reasonably priced. Egg tarts cost just over a $1 each and the bacon mushroom pie is just under $2. Sooo yummy!
