I also think it's fairly dry, so make sure you have something to drink! Store is extremely fast and efficient and has been around forever. It's quite small and cramped inside, so order quickly and have the right amount of change ready. There are lots of benches to eat on outside.

I have literally stood in the rain (with an umbrella, or course) waiting for fresh ones to be baked (since they were sold out). The pineapple buns have raisins, walnuts, and sunflower seeds within. Not a lot, but definitely a good surprise when you are eating the bun. Crispy outside, soft inside. Heaven. Egg tarts - They have both the flaky crust and butter/cookie crust. Both are very good. Just the right amount of crust and the custard within is nice and soft. And they often have fresh batches as they sell quickly. They have many different kinds of breads and buns sold too. One of the unique ones I have seen is the pineapple bun with the BBQ pork stuffed inside. They also have very reasonable prices for cakes, generally under $100. You can get a yummy Chinese cake for about $50-60, but all depends on size and flavor.

Lucky for us, we caught the first batch of the day fresh out of the oven one early morning: a warm, comforting bite of goodness. They have a delicate and buttery shortbread crust, just the way I like it. The custard is aromatic, eggy, silky, and perfect! And like the small shop itself, the price is very humble. The egg tarts are turned out of their molds onto a piece of bread to prevent the crusts from breaking; it is weirdly fun to watch.

Over the years their business has stream lined and sized down to one "headquarter" shop and a few retails in other parts of the city. The headquarter is still located at the same spot as it did years ago but with a face lift done last year. As a major local tourist attraction on the weekends, it's always crowned with people buying their signature item - the wife cake 老婆餅 - a flat flaky pastry filled with a sweet winter melon filling. This location definitely gets more foot traffic than the other location and has a more open room concept. Their bakery area is small but is tidy and holds a lot of the baked items as well as a clear case for their patisserie items. They also have a large seating area for folks that want to enjoy their breakfast, brunch, or café items along with good company. My favorite item is their hazelnut passion fruit tarte. Enjoyed it with a nice iced latte. Although at a higher price point, I would very much prefer this over the Starbucks and other chain coffee shops they have in the general area.

Although the shop bears the name of "bean products", it actually sells a lot more than just soy. Other than the typical soy product such as soya milk and tofu dessert, puddings are the highlight of this shop. Red beans, green beans, sesame...the entire display window is filled with wobbly, soft bellied puddings. You know how these often could go terribly wrong and be disappointingly starchy or to another extreme, taste like jelly rather than how they suppose to be; but in here, you can put those worries aside as they continue serving up good quality puddings over the past decades. I remember when I was still in secondary school, as my tutoring school was just near by, I took up the habit of visiting this joint before or after class. It was never a bad idea buying something sweet to have during the could be boring tutorial class or on the way back home after class; this very much explain why I was more than chubby that period of time. It is a shame that I have not yet try out their namesake soya bean products; they have got bean curd dessert served in cups for easy slurping along the way; not only that, they provide condiments other than the classic syrup if I remember correctly. Haven't been there for quite a long while, time to pick up the trail of my fond memories and visit this shop someday~
