The exterior of it looked really nice and seemed like a very cosy cafe, but the desserts failed to impress. They had an afternoon tea menu which didn't have many choices. In the end, I settled for the matcha and red bean waffles. Both my friends got the banana chocolate waffles. The set comes with a 'special drink' (that's what they called it!); if you wanted to change it to coffee or tea, there would be a surcharge. All three of us decided to go for the 'special drink' - whatever it was - I don't know why we didn't think to ask what this drink actually was. Immediately after the waiter wrote down our order, she came back with the drinks, which were really strange. It looked like water, but was really sugary and weird-tasting. I took a small sip and just set it aside. I give them props for their creativity in the presentation of their waffles - rather than laying them flat, the waffles are cut up in pieces and piled on top of one another to create a little waffle tower. Like the drinks, our waffles came really fast. The waffles were a lot crispier than any other waffles that I'd eaten before. It didn't have the soft, moist texture that most waffles do. The green tea ice cream was typical - nothing spectacular but didn't have a very strong green tea taste. My friends who had ordered the banana chocolate waffles said that theirs were not bad though, so perhaps it's just a difference in opinion. Overall, I won't be coming back to Sweet Tooth because the waffles were too solid for my liking - the 'special drink' was also really bad. I've never had a drink that was so bad I couldn't continue to take another sip, but this was the case here!

Their desserts are as traditional Chinese as it gets. I couldn't resist their black sesame soup…read moreafter I saw someone else eating it. It's one of the best ones I've had in Hong Kong. The consistency is awesomely thick and the degree of sweetness is perfect. In addition to having awesome desserts, I loved that they described the different health benefits of all of their ingredients. It was all in Chinese so I couldn't read all of it, but I still think it was very educational.

Hell, if they sold only one thing here-- or even three things-- this would almost be enough to earn them five stars. Sadly, they serve a lot more things here, and while quite a few are pretty good, none come anywhere close to the Purple In Love. The Ujikintoki is a fine dessert, but it's almost disappointing after the Purple In Love, and the same goes for the shaved ice-- good, but I can get good shaved ice lots of other places. The other thing that kills me? No wifi, and no bathrooms (at least not the few times I've been). Minor things, really, but for a trendy, modern dessert place...

But they didn't have tapioca the night I went which was kinda disappointing for my bf because that was something he was looking forward to. So, I ordered a strawberry pudding and he had a tofu thing with red bean and red date I believe. Not exactly sure what it was but there was a picture of it on the menu that look pretty good. Another thing about this place was their washroom at the time was out of service which made it pretty not convenient for us. We had to go somewhere else at around 10ish at night to find a washroom. The dessert itself was kinda meh here. Nothing too special about it and the price was kinda meh too. Not my favourite place to have dessert in hong kong but it was doable that night.

So us nice Hong Kongers took them to some durian dessert. And what we ended up with were really happy friends. :) The durian pancake tastes just as it sounds - durian, pancake, with cream in between each layer of pancake. Tasted okay. Mango pudding was too... jelly for me. There were chunks of mango solidified together through some sort of thick textured jello under the mountain of cream. I'm not a fan of jello, so it was too overwhelming for me. I just stuck with eating the fresh mangoes on top, those were good enough for me. I ordered a 中三 - literal translation is middle three. Basically three small / middle size bowls of a variety of sweets. I really like black sesame, coconut sago, and red bean in general - so I figured this would be the perfect for me. I got the hot version instead of the cold version since restaurants and buildings in Hong Kong blasts their A/C to an uncomfortable freezing temperature, thus I wanted something that would warm me up as opposed to make me feel even more cold. The desserts were way too sweet... My friend got the cold black sesame and that was less sweet than my hot black sesame. Not sure why there was such a huge difference, but we both agreed that my desserts were unnecessarily and overpoweringly sweet. In order of super sweet to kind of sweet, it goes from: red bean, black sesame, coconut sago. I ate the black sesame first, then coconut sago, and finally finished the red bean on my way home. It was less sweet once the dessert cooled down. Which I find odd. o.O The coconut sago tasted the best. But there were a few, strangely, sour chestnuts in the soup. It probably tasted sour since everything else were so overly sweet. Nevertheless, it just tasted too sour and strange that I left them to the side instead of finishing them. The quality and price of the food are okay. But this place is too sweet for my taste. I wouldn't personally seek this place out or come back on my own.

I always order their mango series because it's always yummy and not overly sweet. You can taste that it is made with mangoes! Good thing that I like to order in this restaurant is tofu, sweet dessert. It's usually very very smooth and again not overly sweet. This place can't really go wrong if you wanted to have some nice dessert. The service is really quick. The waiters would come to you immediately and ask you for your order. Usually people come and know what they want to get. The place itself is quite small, so there isn't a lot of seatings people come and go quickly I would have given it five star if the seats are more comfortable But it is kind of crowded and a bit rush. I knocked down star. But if you're here, just for the food and don't care for the environment and ambience, this is a place to go !

In fact, it sits next to two competing Tong Sui (dessert, or literally "sugar water") stores. In my opinion, Chung Kee is the best one. Having visited the other two when CK's line is out the door, my advice is -- don't stray! Somehow, the exact same dessert item just won't taste as good when you eat at the other places, whether it's because the fruit isn't as fresh and sweet or the black pearl (basil seeds) are smaller and watered down. CK's gets so packed that in the evenings they take over the cafe immediately adjacent and seat patrons there too. There is a good selection of hot and cold desserts, from traditional ground sesame and tofu "soups", to fruits, tapiocas, and shaved icecreams. Best of all, the prices are a fraction of those at big chains like Hui Lau Shan and Honeymoon Desserts, roughly 20-30 HKD per item. Highly recommend.

But this place was relatively close to where I was staying in Hong Kong, so I decided to check it out. The place is super small that you can't really go inside. All the pastry offerings are displayed so that you can view them from outside and then you just tell the ladies inside what you want. I didn't see the egg tarts right away, but they were actually right by the door. I got one at $7HKD. The egg tart was fresh and hot and it was super tasty. I kind of wish I had gotten a second one.
